Newly constructed home in convenient location mid Island
This newly constructed home is conveniently situated just a mile away from the rotary in a tranquil setting off the Polpis Road across from Moor's End Farm. The property has a country feel as it adjoins the moors, the conservation land that comprises most of the interior of Nantucket Island.
The house is two stories with 2200 sq. feet of living space as well as a full unfinished basement (unfurnished). The living space is upstairs and the bedrooms are downstairs. There are three bedrooms on the first floor, each with private bathroom. There is a master suite with king bed, a suite with queen bed and a suite with twin beds. The laundry room is also located on the first floor.
The second floor has an expansive kitchen area and living/dining area with a vaulted ceiling with sky lights. The dining room can seat 10 people comfortably. There is also a comfortable den with a TV and fireplace. The den has a queen sleeper sofa and can serve as overflow sleeping space. There is a full bathroom adjoining the den.
There is an outdoor shower and an ample second floor deck overlooking the large yard. There are miles of trails to explore behind the property and there is a marked Nantucket Conservation trail at the end of the driveway. Close proximity to the Wave Shuttle Bus stops and to the bike path. **Please note all landscaping will be completed spring 2018**
Please note: A signed rental agreement is required to finalize your reservation. Even if your booking request is accepted through VRBO, it is not fully confirmed until the rental agreement has been reviewed and signed. Instructions to complete the agreement will be provided immediately after booking
Polpis is a vast area that encompasses miles of land south of Nantucket Harbor. Most of the land is owned by the Nantucket Conservation Foundation, creating lush surroundings for homeowners and renters to enjoy. Often the nearest neighbor is hundreds of yards away. Although just a few miles from Town, it feels a world away. The beautiful landscape of Polpis and the ample opportunities to get outside and enjoy nature make this area a really special part of the island.
Attractions
Winding its way through this beautiful landscape is the Polpis bike path, starting at the beginning of Polpis Road and running past Sankaty Head Lighthouse and Golf Club ending in Sconset. Many would agree that this bike path is the most beautiful of all the bike paths on the island. Polpis is also home to the Windswept Cranberry Bog, one of just a few organic bogs on the East Coast. This bog has walking trails and is a great spot to observe wildlife on Stump Pond or in the “hidden forests.” If you’re really into exploring, you may even find an old beech tree with initials carved into its bark by visitors past. Also, along the way is the Egan Maritime Institute’s Shipwreck and Lifesaving Museum, a Nantucket landmark devoted to the preservation and honor of maritime history and lifesaving in the waters surrounding Nantucket. Polpis is also home to a small harbor branching off of the main harbor, and serves as a launch for small boats as well as for the Nantucket Community Sailing school.
