The Gateway House - Charming Family Retreat with Spacious Yard

Nestled between Issaquah's beautiful Tiger and Squawk Mountains you'll find the Gateway House. This 3 bed, 1 bath home is a great temporary home base. Featuring epic views of paragliders launching from Tiger Mtn, fresh updated looks housed inside a lovingly cared for home from the 1930’s. The yard is large and is ideal for relaxing or entertaining the dogs or kids. Trailheads are 2 blocks away and it's a short 1 mile walk or ride to Issaquah's bar and restaurant scene on historic Front St.



The Gateway House is a 1550 sq ft farmhouse. It features commanding views of Tiger Mountain, complete with spectacular sunrise views. Surrounded by trees and nature, the space is quiet and peaceful, a perfect place to reset or rest up before another day of adventure.



You'll be inspired to cook with the full size kitchen featuring stainless steel appliances, cupboards stocked with pots/pans and utensils galore. A coffee machine with complimentary grounds is on stand-by to give you your morning pickup. The kitchen breakfast bar  and island with stools is a perfect place to post up for a warm cup of coffee, entertain the chef or get a little work done. Finally, we've provided a curated selection of local wines in the unit available for purchase. Salud!



A 6 person dining table is also available for sit down meals. The living room features soaring ceilings, a warm yet modern fireplace, cozy couch and side chairs to watch TV from, read a book in, or simply take in the amazing views. Netflix, Hulu Live, Disney , Paramount + and Amazon Prime are provided for your viewing pleasure.



The bathroom features heated tile floors and the deep soaker bath/shower combo is a perfect place to refresh and unwind. Amenities include soft towels, hair dryer and bath toiletries.



Escape to the master room where you will sleep on a King Sized Casper branded mattress and ultra soft bedding. 



Outside, a BBQ on the unit's back patio is provided along with ample seating to lounge in the outdoor bliss.

Guests are responsible for cleaning the BBQ grill after use. Please run the burners for several minutes and clean the grill once finished. Failure to make a reasonable effort to clean the grill will result in a $25 cleaning fee. A $50 fee will be charged if a deep clean is required, as determined by our cleaning team.



Hiking, walking and mountain bike trailheads are less than a 5 minute walk / 2 minute ride from the front door. Downtown Issaquah restaurants and shops are a 3 minute drive or 15 minute walk down a well used walk/bike path (Rainier Trail). Snoqualmie pass skiing is a mere 40 minutes away or pop into the city for a meal, sporting event or show in less than 25 minutes.



In addition to the unit itself, guests are welcome to use the shared space with your sister property the Gateway Getaway: BBQ, outdoor dining area, fire pit and furniture.  The sitting area in the backyard with blue Adirondack chairs and a propane fire table are private for the Gateway Getaway Guests. The front yard are private for you as a Gateway House guest.  The shed is private and we ask you to respect that being off limits.



Our family lives very nearby just two houses away: We'll let you have your peace and quiet but will always be happy to answer a question or lend a hand if something is needed.



We actively maintain the property and the turnovers for the units so there is a high likelihood you will see us during your stay though we do try to do most things while you are not there if we can help it to allow your privacy.



A quiet small neighborhood that is a short walk to town and all tiger mountain hiking trails.



The Gateway units are located just 1 mile South of Issaquah’s city center and less than 2 miles from I-90, Seattle’s east / west artery running from the mountains to the sea.



Typical drive time from Sea Tac airport is 25-40 minutes (traffic dependent) and an Uber/Lyft will run you $40-$60 each way (surge price dependent)



Hiking, biking and activities are totally doable without a car especially in the summer months.



The closest bus stop is appx 0.8 miles away and there is a transit center 2.5 miles away.



For hiking outside of Squawk and Tiger Mtns, there are literally hundreds of hikable trails within a 40 minute drive of the Gateway House



Closest skiing is 40 min away (Snoqualmie Pass) with Crystal and Stevens running 2-2.5 hours away depending on traffic/weather.



Pets: The Gateway House welcomes friendly and well behaved dogs only for an additional fee. Pets are not allowed on the bed or any furniture (we kindly ask you not to book please if your dog is unable to stay off the furniture). Your dog needs to be pet and child friendly. 



Kids: The gateway house is suitable with kids under supervision.  



Activity planning: There are extensive bike and hiking trails that can be accessed within minutes of the Gateway House's driveway. As a lifelong Issaquah resident, my family and I can help you design the perfect itinerary, whether it be hiking, mountain biking, brewery hopping, concert going or simply relaxing. We're proud of our Issaquah community and look forward to sharing some of it with you.



Note: Exterior security cameras are used for safety and security purposes only.  They are located at the back entry, back patio, driveway, chicken coop (exterior road), DADU stairs, DADU door, and front yard.



My family lives 2 doors away and are fairly available if any needs are to arise. We are very responsive hosts and mainly interact via the platform though we always love meeting our guests and you might see us playing on the streets with our young boys or walking our dog.



For stays longer than 28 days, our standard procedure includes:
- Signed lease agreement
- Background check
- Refundable security deposit: $1,500

Additional requirements:
- Additional Deep cleaning fee at the end of your stay: $50
- Regular cleaning fee: Required every 30 days

Pet Policy:
We love hosting your furry companions! To help maintain the cleanliness and comfort of our space for all guests, an additional pet fee will apply based on the length of your stay after the initial pet fee applied upon booking for the minimum stay:
7–14 Days: $200 for 1 pet
14–30 Days: $350 for 1 pet, $500 for 2 pets
30+ Days: $500 for 1 pet, $750 for 2 pets

Please let us know in advance if you’ll be bringing a pet so we can prepare the space accordingly. Thank you for helping us keep our home welcoming, pet-friendly, and well cared for!

Garage Storage Add-On:
Need extra space during your stay? Guests have the option to rent secure garage storage for luggage, bikes, or gear at $20 per day. Please let us know in advance if you’d like to add this to your reservation so we can prepare the space for you.

Additional Guests:
Each additional guest beyond the standard occupancy is $50 per guest, per stay.

Left Items:
Before you leave, we kindly ask that you double-check for any personal items. Please note that if items are left behind, a $25 service fee plus shipping costs will apply to have them returned to you.

Our family lives two house away from the Getaway House and we’re happy to help with any questions or concerns you may have. We like to check in through the app after the first night to ensure you’re enjoying yourself. You may see us romping around the neighborhood with our two boys and dog. I am often maintaining the properties and turnovers so you likely might see me on property though I try my best to stay away if it can be prevented. I love getting to know my guests so if you want to chat by all means please do!

The Gateway House is great combination of 1930’s farmhouse charm with plenty of modern updates. With views of both Tiger and Squak mountains that extend beyond a large front yard, you will be treated to beautiful views from sunrise to sunset either from inside or outside the home. Located on a large corner lot and directly adjacent to the lower reaches of the mountain, you feel like you could be miles away from the city in the countryside.

Upstairs features two themed rooms that reflect our passion and embrace of the beautiful outdoors. The National Park room has a Queen sized Casper and the Tiger View Room has a full bed.

Outside, the Gateway House shows off its best. Choose from the well manicured front lawn full of terrific views which is dedicated space for those staying at the house, or take advantage of the shared patio space in back which includes loungers, outdoor dining for 6, BBQ and an outdoor living couch. Patio is shared space with guests at the Gateway Getaway.
