The Harbor Seal Sanctuary viewing area is within Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve where you can observe the harbor seals from a safe distance.

Franklin Trail is one of the best hiking trails in the area set in the foothills just north of Carpinteria. The trail starts at the Franklin Trailhead and climbs up steep switchbacks along a wide road.
