Best Place to Stay on Maui

Mana Kai Maui has the best beach and outdoor facility around. The snorkeling off this beach is wonderful. Lots of lounges to put in shade or sun on the lovely grass area. Our unit #602 was very nicely furnished and the view from the lanai is great. The cable tv has lots of channels and the internet worked great. The unit has very comfortable beds and extra seating if needed. We used the BBQ downstairs one evening and another evening enjoyed dinner at the Five Palms restaurant downstairs..

Mana Kai 602 is a beautiful condo. I appreciated the taste and care that the owner has put into this unit- from the large kitchen sink with corner faucet to the recessed lighting, quiet AC units, bamboo cupboards and multiple ceiling fans. The unit is tastefully appointed with quality details!

The local management company was very responsive to our requests. We needed a dish drying rack and a large frying pan, and they delivered these items the following day. They also sent a plumber to address a plug in the B unit shower drain. The tub filler/drain mechanism was broken, and the plumber replaced it promptly. I was impressed with the immediate service!

I've stayed in many Mana Kai units, and this one is my favorite so far. I look forward to returning many times. I wish I were there now!

Perfect location but condo needs a refresh

We have just returned from Mana Kai and we would rate the location as a 4/5 with stunning views of the beach and ocean.

However the room is a bit dated and the decor tired, being greeted by a vase of dead flowers at 11pm. didn't help you feel welcomed!

Construction/Renos -Fortunately an earlier reviewer had warned of the reno work ongoing, so we were prepared. We didn't have any warning from the owners. The condo next door is being upgraded, but the good news is they are nearly finished. However the work is ongoing in the block so my advice is to phone Mana Kai in advance and ask them directly. Not that there is anything you can do about it and it didn't really affect us as the renos are 9-4pm and not weekends; we weren't there during the day but you can hear it on the beach sometimes.

Mana Kai resort is really well looked after. The staff are friendly, the grounds clean and well kept including the BBQ's that you need to book with reception; but were never busy. The salt water resort pool is also clean and we used it as a rest from the sea or when the wind picked up in the PM. A rental shop (paddleboards, kayaks, bikes) and a convenience store help too. There's also a local yoga studio onsite which (next time!) we hope to use.

The beach is stunning, would much rather be up at this end then at the other end where the large hotels dominate the beach. The reef is also really cool, lots of fish and turtles. The wind picks up in the PM so get your water activities in before midday.

On a final point on the renovations, we went and looked at newly refurbished condo. It was stunning, but top dollar. so it's up to you if dated at less $$ is what you want. For us it would be, as this is location, location, location.

So will we be back?; yes is the answer........ I&T 2017

Great location, good deal

Had a wonderful stay at Mana Kai 602. Before we went my wife and I studied a lot of options for both condos and hotels before settling in on this one. We are a family of 5 (3 teenage boys). Owners were very responsive to the reservation and checked in with us to make sure we taken care of. Unit was clean (probably early 90's décor) well stocked (kitchen items, towels, etc.), it was functional and comfortable with A/C and ceiling fans. The lanai was large (sit 5-6 comfortably) and the view and the beach really can't be beat. Boys said snorkeling at the beach there was better than Molokini trip.

The layout in the unit worked. One king bed was off the main room with sliding door and had full bathroom. We had two kids share that bed and the other on the pullout couch in the main room. My wife and I slept in the back (Queen) bedroom which also had its own bathroom and TV. Only downside was the view from that bedroom was great but was part of the walkway for the floor so you basically couldn't use it unless you like your neighbors looking in at you on the way to their unit. But ultimately we felt that was minor as we spent little time there outside of sleeping and most of the inside time on the main lanai which again was excellent.

Property has a restaurant which was OK. Many eating and grocery options within short driving distance. Property also had a great little grocery/supply/deli/liquor store in one and a great rental shop with very helpful owner for snorkel stuff, paddle, boogie and surf boards. Grounds were well maintained, had a small pool we never used with that beach right there and even had a decent gym. Overall a great stay right in south Kihei/north Wailea. The setting is beautiful, the price is right. It's like getting two rooms and a kitchen for the price of one compared to what you pay for at the nice hotels in the area and I believe you won't get a better lanai, view or beach than what you get here even at the nice hotels which we've visited.

Whether you go to Hana or not, do go to Paia (quaint "hippie town" on way close to airport for awesome shopping, food, coffee (Paia Bay Coffee). Other highly recommended things we did were surf lessons (Rivers to the Sea), Kayak/Snorkle combo (Makena Kayak Tours) and easily the favorite was Kapalua Ziplines. Be aware if you want to see the sunrise at the volcano (I forget how to spell) you need reservations and far in advance. We did sunset instead, no reservation needed for that. Enjoy all.

Questionable Owner

Tried to contact owner...after we booked. Took him over 6 months to respond. Sent numerous emails and phone calls..no response. Also terrible construction noise which he knew about but did not disclose. Nice unit. We have stayed in this complex every year for over 10 years and like the complex. Would I ever rent from this owner again...NO.

I took over at the end of last year, and my track record of response has been 100% with response time under 5 hours (most often within minutes). So, although your past experience has been unfavorable, I hope it could give you more confidence in booking with me in the future. As for construction noise, building management sends us, owners, a notification if our guests could potentially be affected by construction noise. On each of such notifications I take immediate action to insure that my guests are aware and have a plan. In all such past cases I held close communication with guests and went beyond and above of what is usually done in similar situations. In your case I did not receive a notification from the building management (I will investigate why). With no indication from them or any communication from you in the past 9 months or during the stay, I had no way of knowing about any problems or providing a favorable resolution. I take pride at working hard to provide my guests with a pleasant and comfortable stay!

Great View Great Location

This is our second time staying at Mana Kai condominium. It is kind of expensive but you'd be hard pressed to find a better ocean view anywhere in the world. We spent at least an hour a day just hanging out on the lanai watching whales spouting and breaching. It is located on a small point close to the junction between Kihei and Wailea. Keawakapu beach is just south of the condo. It is narrow but the sand is perfect and the snorkeling is great directly out from the condo. It is common to see turtles here. Just north of the condo is a neat little trail that traverses park and rare bird nesting grounds.

The condos ending in numbers 1-6 have the best views because they are closer to the ocean. We stayed in 602 which had a great view. Last time we stayed in 804? which was also great
