Norwood Farm and Vineyard, Village Guest Cottage
The historic port of Norwood is a storied Lake Michigan gem. Spared of modern progress, the village is quaint and unhurried, comfortable in its idyllic charm of simpler times. The 1885 Village Guest Cottage is equal parts hardworking farmhouse and vintage beach house. It sleeps six with three bedrooms and two baths. Guests come to slow down and unplug. Norwood cellular signal is sparse, and there is no television. Only shoreline wonder, north woods quiet, and vineyard solitude.
Maximize and extend your getaway with no extra fee. We offer all-day open check-in and check-out. Guests may check-in anytime after 9am on your arrival day, and you can check-out anytime before 5pm on your departure day.
The Guest Cottage is nestled in the historic village between the hilltop vineyard above and the Lake Michigan beach below, a short (vigorous!) walk to each. There is 250 feet of elevation between the beach and the vineyard.
An annex to the Norwood Farm and Vineyard, the Village Guest Cottage has been restored as a cheerful vintage refuge. It is our family cottage, now also well-suited for sabbaticals, vacations, retreats, and the slowing-down pace of soul nourishing renewal.
Steps away, the Lake Michigan beach below is adjacent to the little known southern hikers' trailhead into the fabled Fisherman’s Island State Park, with its pristine beaches and miles of shoreline hiking trails.
Above the village, the Champagne-style farm and vineyard breezily overlooks sweeping views of the Grand Traverse Bay, Leelanau Peninsula, Lake Michigan, and the Beaver Island archipelago. We invite guests to tend vines with us in the slow traditional methods. But the view invariably distracts the work.
Norwood is secluded, yet only ten minutes from both Charlevoix and Torch Lake. Just 30 minutes from Petoskey and Hemmingway's Walloon Lake. Only 45 minutes from Traverse City, the cherry capital of the world.
For magnificent day-trips, Norwood is a short drive and perfectly situated equidistant between three of the most iconic Michigan destinations— the world-famous Mackinac Bridge, Mackinac Island, and the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
In the winter Norwood also sits equally between five of the most popular Midwest ski mountains: Boyne Highlands, Nubs Nob, Boyne Mountain, Shanty Creek, and Crystal Mountain.
Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City is served daily by United, American and Delta.
