Dueling Sisters Historic Retreat in Historic Downtown Savannah
NEW TO VRBO! -Stay in both levels of a legendary 1848 Savannah home—once the domain of Myrle, the champaign loving sister with a easy smile and a sharp tongue. This full townhouse includes 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, porches, and a courtyard where secrets were whispered and biscuits were judged. Two full units, vintage charm, and unbeatable location just blocks from Forsyth Park. Not perfect—but clean, comfy, and full of Southern soul. Some guests say the sisters never really left… but we’ll let you decide.
Stay in BOTH Apartments of the Legendary house
4 Bedrooms | 3 Bathrooms | 2 Kitchens | 1 Private Porch | 1 private sundeck | 1 Private Courtyard | Built 1848 | Free Parking
Step into Savannah’s storybook past and stay in not one, but two full apartments inside the original 1848 home known as The Dueling Sisters Inn — a lovingly restored double sided townhouses with charm, quirks, and just a dash of mischief.
This listing gives you one entire side of the property — both the upstairs 2BR/2BA unit and the downstairs 2BR/1BA flat. Whether you're a family, wedding party, or a group of besties seeking a home with porch-sippin’ soul, this is the perfect place to spread out while staying together.
A Tale of Two Sisters...
Long ago, this home belonged to twin sisters Mildred and Myrle — raised in Savannah society, sharp as tacks, and stubborn as mules. Their father, a local cotton merchant down on Factors walk on the River -built them two matching townhouses side by side, so he’d never have to choose a favorite .
Mildred, the eldest by three minutes, lived on the right side. She was the quiet one — a master biscuit baker, ruthless rose gardener, and the kind of woman who could ruin you with a single glance over her teacup or a silver-tongued joke.
Myrle, was a different storm entirely — bold, flirtatious, and known for her champagne-fueled porch parties and scandalous serenades under the Savannah moonlight.
Though they claimed to be close, the sisters had their funny, love & vinegar filled spats… and they may still be having them. Guests have been known to report missing socks, flickering lights, or the mysterious smell of gardenias and sweet wine. If you bring your furry family member, you may find them looking at random corners of the room, Coincidence? Maybe. But around here, we say: the sisters never really left… they just switched to pranks. (seriously, if the sister's play a joke on you during you're stay- please message to tell us about it!)
The Space – What You Get
You’ll have the entire left-side townhouse, split between two private units:

Downstairs Unit (2BR / 1BA)

* Original hardwood floors & historic details.
Each apartment has its own entrance, so you get privacy and flexibility, and share a shared interior foyer for free movement inside the townhouse between units if desired, but still stay close enough to swap stories over cocktails in the courtyard or biscuits on the porch.
Meet Miss Stacy, Our Housekeeper, assistant Innkeeper, & Resident Ghostbuster
Your stay is lovingly prepared by Miss Stacy, our longtime housekeeper and honorary innkeeper. She’s got a kind heart, a quick wit, and a fierce grudge against disappearing washcloths, which she insists are hiding from her. You may find one in a pillowcase, but rest assured — it’s clean.
If you need anything topped off, Miss Stacy or one of us is always just a message away.
The Location – Walkable Savannah Charm
Located just two blocks from Forsyth Park and nestled in the heart of Savannah’s famed Historic District, the Dueling Sisters Inn offers the perfect launching pad for coffee crawls, ghost tours, historic squares, and long walks under moss-draped oaks, tourist attractions or just a 15 minute stroll to the water front (cocktail in hand is recommended!)
Free street parking is usually available right out front. From here, you’re close to everything — but just far enough to enjoy some porch-front peace and quiet. We offer free off-street parking as well.
A Few Final Notes
This home is nearly 180 years old, and she creaks and sighs just like you’d expect. She’s not perfect, but she’s clean, comfy, and full of stories. If you're looking for sleek and modern, this might not be your match. But if you love a little charm, character, and Southern sass — we’d love to host you.
Guest access
Guests will have private access to the entire left-side townhouse, which includes two fully separate apartments — one upstairs and one downstairs. Each unit has its own entrance, kitchen, living space, bedrooms, and bathrooms, giving your group plenty of room to spread out while staying together.
You'll also have full access to the screened-in back porch, upper sun Porche and front veranda, and the lower courtyard, where the sisters once sipped tea, traded gossip, and maybe (allegedly) hexed each other.
Free street parking is typically available right in front of the house. Both units are fully yours — no shared spaces with other guests.
Other things to note
This home was built in 1848, and she's proudly full of personality. The floors creak, the doors stick, and nothing is quite square — but that’s part of her charm. If you're looking for modern and flawless, this isn’t the one. But if you love history, character, and a little mischief, you’ll fit right in.
Some guests say the sisters still play little tricks — a flickering light here, a misplaced sock there. We say: be polite, don’t pick sides, and maybe leave a little wine on the porch.
We happily welcome pets! There is a $100 pet cleaning fee, and we kindly ask that pets stay off furniture.
For stays over 30 days, guests will be billed separately for utilities (electric, water, and gas) based on actual usage.
