The house is in pretty rough condition but worked for what we needed it for. We had to do a lot of maintenance all the fire alarms were going off when we arrived and a window was fully missing that we had to replace ourselves. The HVAC system was leaking and we had to remove the carpeting from a room because it smelled awful. The beds and bedding were sufficient but not the nicest. This house has a lot of charm though and the views and area made up for what it was lacking. Would recommend for a younger group looking for a beach week or a family on a budget.

We love this view!It is a great family vacation house. The previous renters did not take out the trash on said date. The masterbedroon bed is broken, Windows need repair. Bedding is worn out. We knew what we were getting. The kids love the house and yard!

Great place for a large family gathering. House is old and had a few maintenance issues but the amazing view, spacious kitchen where you can cook with a view, and all the space made up for those issues.

As always we really love this large house overlooking the bay. We enjoyed the seals roaring in the early sunrise. The kitchen is very good. Our family looks forward to our stay. There are usually some quirks with the house but Eric tries to correct them. It was a pleasure.

Had a great time. The location is perfect for walking to restaurants, bars with live music and beach. Neighbors are lovely to chat with. House is enormous and provided enough room for everyone to have a wonderful trip. In time the furniture should be updated in living room and some of the mattresses replaced, however this would not stop us from renting again. Thank you for a great time!

Nice view!!!

The view was gorgeous and yard was nice for kids and games. Deck was wonderful to spend the day or evening watching the tides. Great big kitchen but does need updating on the stove since all not burners and knobs worked. Ample room for kids to have their own space. The furniture and decore should be updated as living room could only seat 4 comfortably. Overall we had a great time and would rent again.

Very good! Some of the front porch furniture could be be replaced.

The kitchen is fabulous and was perfect for our large crowd! We were happy that there were 5 bathrooms although the third floor shower only got hot hot water and the one of the second floor shower only got cold water. There was not a DVD but we were able to figure out the Direct TV. We would definitely like to book it again when we know our summer dates.

Really needs to be updated with curtains and linens and carpet the grill never worked we had to go purchase one of our own ..gas on the stove range did not work the kitchen stuff is outdated dishwasher was dirty .. ..there was no pool table ..the tv in living room did not work ..needs more updated furniture and there is no outdoor sitting area at all .the place has such potential its sad that these little things would make the place so much more ..

Pros: Awesome location! Huge house, there were 16 of us& could've easily fit 15 more! Very clean& well maintained! Owner VERY repsonsive to issues. Washer and dryer great. Cons: "gournet " kitchen lacking basic items to cook a meal, trash pick up was a disaster, previous guests trash overflowing leaving us nowhere to throw ours, 4 out of 6 bedrooms had AWFUL mattressee, like they may have been box springs. Shower curtain 1st floor bath had mildew. I would definitely rent again but would bring air mattresses to avoid rhe beds.

Huge disappointment beach cottage, not recommended. Listing is “Glamour Shots”

All trash bins stuffed full of garbage Sleeping beds not as described, no balcony use (doors nailed shut), broken fridge door, ovendoors sprung & would not close properly, garage unusable, all baths leaked & water ran constantly in all baths. Freezer filthy, cabinets stuff with food from previous renters. Floor dirty with no broom. Overall the house was in bad shape and the price we paid outrageous for what we got.

Sorry we cannot allow access to roof deck due to liability reason. It is clearly stated in our listing Town only pickup trash once. a week. Stuffed bins were place away from the property waiting for town pickup. We have professional cleaning service cleaned up the place before your arrival

Do NOT be fooled

This property is absolutely atrocious. Do not be fooled by the photos, this house looks nothing like shown here. All of the carpets are stained, some doors to the bedrooms are missing from the hinges, there is no decent furniture on the front porch. In fact, there was a 6 foot plastic party table as if a fraternity party had just ended, there was caution, tape on windows, Broken screens, dirty beds/sheets and missing locks on doors leading outside. This is only scratching the surface of the issues that arose during our not even 12 hour stay. Not only have we complained to VRBO but I also let the host know that it is totally unacceptable and I am waiting on a response. Do not stay here, it is unsafe and just plain dirty. For such a beautiful neighborhood, this home has to be hated by every neighbor in the neighborhood. Shame on the host for not investing some money back into the house too make it what it should be!

Not as described

Check in and location was easy. We came during a heat wave and the house was at 85 degrees when we arrived and took the entire night of sweating to get to 70 degrees with no assistance from Eric. The stove does not work without a grill lighter which we were not made aware of. Trash from the previous guests were still in the trash bins so we had no place to place our bags other than the garage. Said it slept 14 with 6 beds - 1 bed was completely missing, 1 was a thin mattress topper on the ground, 1 was a mattress topper on a box spring. I am not convinced any cleaning people came - the sheets had some sand in them and stains throughout all linens.

Avoid at all costs

I will start off by saying I've been a huge fan of VRBO and have been using it for years with no issues. This is my first bad experience. We arrived to a dark, dingy house. The first thing we noticed walking up the stairs was the big hole in the wall of the staircase. Walking into the bedrooms the pillows were covered in what looked like dried blood. Maybe it was rust, but either way, my daughters were pretty disgusted. The rugs in most of the bedrooms were covered in stains as well.Many of the lights in the bedrooms and the main room were not working as well and we had to use our phone flashlights.None of the bathroom doors locked and in one of the bathrooms the toilet constantly ran and had to be turned off at the wall. We let the host know we wouldn't be staying there and ended up booking rooms at the Nantasket Beach Resort which was cheaper and much nicer.The host has been unwilling to work with us to get our money back.I would avoid this place at all costs and we have plenty of pictures to back this up. I'm barely scratching the surface of the problems with this property.

No words can describe how awful this house is.

Everything was DIRTY! Check in easy. All windows nailed shut or brokenfire hazard along with the smoke alarm that goes off every night in the middle of the night. Room without door, termite pile in bathroom, All pillows & mattresses are old & stained. Vrbo should shut this house down. One top window wouldn’t close so you have bugs flying all around and air going out, 2 standing bed frames that could hurt someone, A mouse ran across my son’s foot, the furniture is so dirty you don’t want to sit down. Cleanest room is detached apt out back, but futon is for one so purchased a blow up mattress.The blinds are ragged out. We asked questions prior due to previous bad reviews/ rented a yr in advance for wedding guest and he never once got back to us! I want my money back! Thank goodness we had other places to stay most of the time. Barely any furniture! Beds broken had to put a mattress on floor in master to sleep/broken frame. Found a sexual toy ring in couch. You can’t make this up. We left the place cleaner than when we stepped foot into this house! The owner needs to go buy sheets, towels, furniture, new mattresses new beds/frames etc. ALL TOP BEDDING DIRTY,Front door knob pulls off on you and kitchen bathroom door can lock you in, be aware if your claustrophobic. Also mold. Doors nailed shut upstairs, grill not usable, would post more but limited, & can only post 8 pics. Very dishonest description he is selling! We are very upset and angry for the 6K plus we paid for a dump.:/

great views but not the same as in photos

We were excited this rental based on the photos and reviews (although the most recent have not been great) but very disappointed when we arrived for our family weekend. The house has a great ocean view and is not far from a decent "local" sports bar and an inn with a good restaurant. BUT, over the years since the photos were taken, the home has slipped a bit. Furniture is worn and sparse and you get the sense that there have been a few party rentals in recent times. While there is a hefty cleaning charge, we found the cleaning that had been done prior to our arrival was not very well done...kitchen floor not clean, counter top needing a good wipe down etc. No hot water in one bath shower. Obviously, lots of leaks over time in the ceilings, painted over but you wonder about mold. One old TV (the flat screen in the photos is gone). Bottom line, it is big, lots of room for a large group but sparsely furnished, not well taken care of and in need of lots of work. I have communicated our observations to the owner who has responded that he will be improving the property but I would not return until I saw evidence...a new set of updated photos would help when improvements are complete. Do not rely on the current pictures

Checked in, found no toilet paper in master bathroom. TP holder missing from wall, shower hand held hose aged and split (non-operational), some lights didn’t work. Another bathroom had vomit remains in the trash can (but there was a fresh bag over it!). Prepared to do laundry and found the dryer was broken and according to notes left, had been for many weeks. We contacted owner who said to use the laundromat in town!! Are you kidding?! At $700 plus a night i don’t expect to spend my days at a laundromat!! No attempt to repair or replace the dryer, just ignore the problem as with many other items. Beds were all stained and some mattresses were on the floor. The main stairway is a safety hazard descending as there is no visual differentiation in the stairs, needs paint or colored tape. I could go on for many pages, there is so much to describe that is broken or unsafe. I am shocked VRBO would accept this rental but I guess I’m just naive. In my opinion this is just a money grad by a non-caring owner. So much improvement could be done with minimal investment.

Awesome Views

If you’re looking for the finest linens, the best beds, and the fanciest accommodations, you might want to look elsewhere. While this house is in a perfect spot (amazing views, walkable bars and restaurants and stores, amazing neighbors), and has a ton of space, it isn’t quite what we thought it would be. It was supposed to sleep 14, however we slept 10. Very little furniture in this house. While it’s supposed to allow 14 people to live and sleep in it, no room sits more than 8. If you have small children and are worried about stairs, this house is not for you. Some beds were not put together. The best views in the house and the quietest spot for working are on the third floor. However, speaking of windows, many of them were screwed shut (along with some doors), and many rooms had their smoke detectors removed. The 2nd floor patio was not available for use. It has a great outdoor porch/yard to hang out in. There is no immediate place to swim. If you’re a super picky person, this house might drive you nuts. The bathrooms BADLY need some sort of hooks or shelves for people to store their stuff. The kitchen is AMAZING! But for all of the issues with things, if it went up for sale for a fair price my husband and I would scoop it up. We made some amazing memories, the owner was super responsive & the Wi-Fi carried the load of multiple people teleworking. It was an amazing house for our trip, and suited our lowkey needs of space, beds and a place to make memories.

Holiday Family Vacation

This was a beautiful location for my family to celebrate Thanksgiving together. Unfortunately, the details of the listing were not accurate and I believe transparency is important when spending this amount of money on a rental. Please note, there is a 7 day minimum. The owner did not offer less than 7 days but did offer 2 additional days in lieu of a discount (which were not used). 1. Bedding/pillows were stained - I would suggest bringing your own 2. Fireplaces in listed are not functional 2. The dryer is not working (as stated in previous review- not working for months) 3. Washing machine is showing an error message - did not work during our stay 4. First floor bathroom - no hot water 5. Second floor hallway bathroom - water handle broken and moves to scolding hot water which is concerning for the children bathing 6. 3rd floor does not have any smoke/CO detectors attached. This level also gets extremely warm and we had to open the windows which do not have screens. During our stay, the pendant light in the kitchen was leaking. This light was not working upon arrival which leads me to believe this was an issue in the past. The water was continuous for hours. The owner instructed us to not turn on the light and put a bucket under the light to catch the water. Both obvious instructions that had already been done. This was a major safety concern since the light was still wired. Owner was quick to respond but did not offer any refund for the issues stated.

A diamond in the rough?

I very rarely leave reviews but felt I needed to on this one. This house has SO much potential. The location is great - a short walk from restaurants, bars + ice cream and right across the street from where seals spend their day. A word of warning: there is no sandy beach access (only rocky beachfront) unless you drive a ways down the shore, so just plan for that. We were surprised at the lack of furniture in the home and the overall condition of things. The wooden deck stairs were super wobbly and unsafe, the dining room furniture and one couch all ripped and stained, tattered curtains/blinds (and a towel used as a curtain in one bathroom), and not enough seating in the home for the gathering we had planned. As the house is advertised for family reunions, you'd think there would be more than a two-person couch and 4 chairs on the deck! The mattresses and pillows were super stained (especially the master mattress - yikes), as was the one carpet in the home. We brought our own blankets and pillows, and I'd suggest you do as well. In all, we were disappointed by the state of the home for what we paid. BUT, the owner was very responsive, the location great, and the home huge. With some additional inexpensive furniture and updates to things like the deck, it could be perfect!
