I’ve used VRBO and similar rental platforms for years and have never had any issues — until this extremely unfortunate stay. The host asked my family to leave after only 2 days of a 28-day reservation simply because we brought our Amazon Fire Stick and asked about the extremely poor WiFi connection. Nowhere in the listing or house rules did it say that streaming devices (a very common thing to bring anywhere) were prohibited, but as soon as the host asked, we unplugged it immediately.The WiFi was terrible: it could only reliably connect to one device, and even then it would drop multiple times throughout the day. If we connected a computer or tablet, it disconnected every 10–15 minutes.The host had also asked for feedback, so we mentioned that the kitchen was missing basic utensils needed for a long-term stay (like a strainer, baking sheet, and peeler), and instead of addressing anything professionally, his reaction to every concern — WiFi, kitchen tools, or otherwise — was simply to kick our family out.Thankfully we found another place quickly. The host promised to refund the unused nights, but after we left he refunded only one-third of the amount, claiming a “maximum refund rule” that was never communicated in writing or in the listing. This behavior is blatantly dishonest and misleading.Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this property and this host. There are plenty of professional, honest hosts on VRBO — unfortunately, this is not one of them.
