very amazing house in very amazing nature!
We were a german photo-group and stayed for a week in this wonderful house, it was really a good time!
The contact before our trip was friendly and very uncomplicated. The couple Annie and Andrew have restored a big industrial hall into a guest-house. What a good work! We have seen the photobooks which showed the developement - absolutely unbelivable what they have done.
The house is located at the end of Loch Etive and has a great view! Waking up in the morning and walking outside on the big balkony...amazing.
From outside the house looks a little bit "wild". Hedges of blackberries, a surrounding which is "left to the nature" and a big storm were very impressive, when we arrived. But INSIDE...wow.
The house is divided in three sections which can be closed and used by three familys or be opened and used by a whole big group like us. Every part has two bedrooms and every bedroom has its bathroom. Some are "ensuite", some are near to the bedrooms. Every part also has a living room which are nicely equipped and a kitchen.
The main living-room is wonderful. They have a piano, enough place for 12, a wonderful fireplace and it is all over modern and bright.
The main kitchen is a dream! There is really everything you need. Nothing is missing. Everything is high standard and very large. Perfect. The best thing was the water-cooking water-tap! You have the whole time cooked water for your tee and coffey. It was wonderful to come back after a long journey and to relax.
The dining-room is made for 12. We sat there in the evenings and played poker! The family has a cubboard with decks, sets and other games, so we never needed the biiiiiig TVs in eatch section.
Three things, you have to know:
1. The "hall" was completely empty when the familiy began to restore. There were only two walls left inside. So the walls are added and a little bit "wafer thin". But there is SO much place to go when somebody wants to sleep...or take earplugs! No problem!
2. There are two "Galery-rooms". Both are open on two sides at ca.1,50m height.
3. The beds have different standards. Perfect for families, could be a little problem for groups where everybody has to pay the same. The master bedroom however is a dream!!
I give five stars, because the house was really wonderful and the different beds were no real problem for our group.
We really can recommend this house to you! I would come back!
All the best,
My family and I stayed here for a week at the end of October/beginning of November, made up of me and my husband with our 3 young children (age 5, 3 and 1), my brothers and their wives/families (kids aged 8, 5 and 4) and our parents in their 70s. This house is at the end of the Loch, around the hill from the quarry, but that honestly wasn’t an issue. We barely knew it was there bar a few trucks up and down the road during the day if we were home.
The outlook from the house is just breathtaking. The autumnal colours take in a life of their own and the serenity of watching seals jump and play in the water is therapy for the soul. The house is renovated to a very high standard and beautifully kept (be sure to look at the book there which shows the story of it all - quite remarkable!) The kitchen is extremely well equipped - though could do with a few more spare cupboards to store food as most are full. Most beds are comfortable- though a shame there is a reliance on so many put up beds to make the numbers up, which for a week are no comfortable. Some of the bedrooms are gallery rooms - open over the lounge and kitchen - so not ideal for children or early settlers. I’d also say that this isn’t a house for young children. We were terrified all week of them breaking something or marking something and there is stuff everywhere for them to fiddle with and explore / none of which suitable for them! Plus the pianos that they’re not allowed to touch!! The only brown water we saw (from filtration) was bath water or toilet water which didn’t bother us - the tap water was clear and delicious.
There’s plenty to do - horse riding, castles, the prison, though no boat tours this time of year - and Poppies Garden Centre nearby in Oban was a lovely place for tea. There’s nearby waterfalls to visit and beautiful walks or cycle routes too.
Andrew - the owner - was so helpful and accommodating. We never felt intended upon and when we needed something - like extra towels - it was sorted straight away.
I would have no hesitation in highly recommending this property for a Scottish break - without small kids! Simply stunning location and I’m sure in warmer months the loch can also be enjoyed a bit more!
Outstanding and Memorable
We have rented homes and have stayed in grand hotel suites around the world. This home neat Oban is especially memorable.
The location is spectacular as is the view.
It is near Oban ( 20+ minutes drive) and is centrally located in Scotland.
We used the house with our grown kids to explore the western coast of Scotland. Each evening we would return and cook a great meal in a Professional Chefs kitchen and talk about our day while watching the late summer sun set over the lock that inspired important western lititure while feasting on some of the finest seafood freshly caught off the coast of Oban.
We have travelled in over 100 countries and this is our handfew whe want to return.
If you want to experience the best od Scotland as as Scot I recommend staying here.
Thanks for the kinds words Steve, you and your family are most welcome to return anytime.
Thanks for looking after the house for us.

Gorgeous House, stunning location.
Firstly, can I say how fantastic the house is. It has been converted to a very high standard using top quality products and we did not want for anything. You can telll that a lot of hard work and soul has gone into the refurbishment and we absolutely loved the house, it was perfect for our family holiday. Set on a lovely loch in a quiet area, the scenery is stunning and we were privileged to see the otter on numerous occasions. It did not bother us that the house is fairly close to the quarry, we did not notice it. The owner, Andrew, could not have been more helpful, a pleasure to deal with, and we'd like to thank him for allowing us to stay in his fab house. We had some lovely walks and plenty of fishing. Even though it was pretty wet, we had a fantastic holiday and didn't want to leave. Cannot fault this property ant would love to visit again one day.
Thanks Dawn for the lovely review, and thanks for looking after the house so well. You are most welcome to come again...

Fantastic house and location
The house is set on a beautiful loch in a quiet and secluded area. The scenery is absolutely amazing and we were fortunate to see both gray seals in the lake as well as peacocks on the road in front of the house. From nearly every room in the house there is a stunning view of the loch. The house has been beautifully renovated and it contains all modern facilities and amenities, while preserving at the same time a very cosy atmosphere. We stayed in the house 14 people - grandparents, children and grandchildren - and we found enough room for all. As to the layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms our only ‘aber dabei’ was, that two bedrooms were located on an open loft, causing us all to go to bed and wake up at the same time to avoid problems with noise. The house has everything you may want, comfortable beds, modernised bathrooms, and especially we were very happy with the large amount of kitchen equipment, the multiple ovens and dishwashers. This was all fantastic when cooking for 14 people.
The owner, Andrew, has been extremely kind and helpful troughout, and we thank him for a great stay in Tigh Na Breac. Andrew provided us with lots of information about the house as well as things to do and see in the area. And we owe him a special thanks for his quick effort to obtain fishing rods – acting on our careful inquiry just a few days before our arrival. We are very greatful for this, which allowed us to go fishing in Loch Etive along side the quarry, were we also went for some lovely walks, spotting seals and otters on several occasions. Both children and grown ups had lots of fun fishing in what we were told by the locals to be a great fishing spot, even attracting anglers from other parts of Scotland!
Trips that we can recommend: among others a visit to Oban (enjoying freshly prepared mussels on the harbour, visiting the Oban whiskey destillery), walking in Glen Coe mountains, sailing to Isle of Staffa, riding the Harry Potter train btw. Fort William and Mallaig, swimming in Loch Lomond etc.
We would love to visit this house again some day and we can highly recommend it!
Many thanks for your kind word and we are so pleased you and your family had a wonderful holiday at the house and in beautiful Scotland. It’s a wonderful country. Thanks again for looking after the house so well. You are most welcome to return anytime.
We will be making the gallery bedroom above the kitchen a closed room this winter😀. So hopefully you will see this on your return soon😀.

Amazing views, very special place
We really enjoyed our stay. This is such a unique property with stellar views from every window. The hosts were extremely responsive and went out of their way to make sure we were well set-up. The house is very well appointed for large groups, has a terrific kitchen that has been expertly thought-out for feeding big groups. Great spot.
