This 1 bdrm 1 bath apartment within a larger house was excellently well maintained, very clean, and had a well appointed kitchen, bathroom, dining area, and lounge area. It was also generously supplied with necessities such as dinnerware, paper products, cleaning products, extra pillows and blankets, etc. We very much enjoyed the feeling of the place... it felt like a ‘real’ home, nothing like the bear, sterile and impersonal feel of virtually every hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. I was also very pleasantly surprised that it had a small private office area with desk that was not included in the photos of the property. This was especially helpful as I had work-related deadlines I had to service while we were visiting our daughter and son-in-law on the occasion of the birth of their first child. As its name implies (“5 minute away”) it was also conveniently located to so many other places we wanted to visit, including very close proximity to an excellent laundromat. Throughout our stay, our host could not have been kinder nor more considerate. Thank you Laura for providing such a wonderful accommodation!

Everything was wonderful and as advertised…apart from a bit of broken glass found in a remote area of the apartment. After reaching out via text, our host graciously offered to come and clean it for us!

The host was great and let us check in super early since we arrived in the morning! She also sent a detailed instruction sheet. The location, although tucked behind a big medical building where Google Maps couldn’t quite find, was super close to piedmont ave so we could walk for food/shops and it felt safe. The house is quirky but was clean and had everything we needed for our short stay!

The apartment was quite spacious and comfortable. It's really a complete apartment not just a studio space. The patio is modest but would be nice in a warmer season. (My visit was January.) The kitchen was well-equipped with cookware, appliances, silverware, plates etc etc. (although I used only the cups & coffee maker). The host was immediately available by text when I had a question about the access directions.

Location was perfect as Son lives nearby. Parking was a BIG plus! Locked front gate sits low and has to be lifted to work properly. Nice, private spot in back of property. Has 2 chairs in front of apt to sit, have coffee/wine and unwind. Nicely appointed apt - kitchen has pots/dishes/silverware/coffeepots/full size refrigerator. Big TV, couch, chair and minisplit (heat and A/C unit) in living room, but occasional spotty connectivity to internet at times. Bathroom is very small, step-in shower nice and hot, towells provided. Bedroom is in back of apt with a big window that looks at back of property, and queensize bed that is tucked up against the window making it tricky to use as a couple. The small office room off the dining room was perfect. Entire apt seems to be on a tilt so its not that you had too much wine! :) Back outside area seemed messy and like we were not to enter (kid trikes were placed in a row across area. The Host Laura was very helpful with quick replies when we had questions. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

Very good location if you a visiting the Piedmont area. Airy, light and comfortable. Feels very secure and safe.Listing says Laundry, but it is not included it is a pay laundry. Doesn't have a lot of dishes, glasses or utensil. It is an older property, so the floors are not level.

This spot was Just Right! It has all the charm & idiosyncrasies of a building constructed in 1908. Felt like home to me having lived in spaces like this one in my hometown of San Francisco. Would come again.The apartment was private, clean, & uncluttered. And yet, beautiful flowers welcomed me on the dining table as I arrived. Practical supplies like pens, scissors & tape made life details easy. Excellent wifi. Host Laura was attentive & responded immediately to requests upon my arrival & thoughtfully took care of outdoor chairs during the changeable early spring weather. The heater kept me warm whenever seasonal chill hit the air. The kitchen was well supplied & perfect for morning coffee & light meals.The enclosed table & chair just outside the front door was a favorite spot for me to spend outside time in early morning watching stellar jays play among the foliage of the old growth garden, even as rain fell. I called it my "Oakland nest." I was here on a family visit so the refuge in the down time, & solitude were a gift. Many mornings I had breakfast & worked at Caffé Chiave, just a short walk to Piedmont Ave where I also found fun shopping & handy places such as a CVS. Location was ideal: driveway parking, just a 12 minute drive to friends, family & dining in the Elmwood area of Berkeley as well as a 24 minute straight shot down Broadway to catch 24 through the Caldecott tunnel to family in suburbs beyond. Highly recommend this place as a private home away from home.

Very comfortable, lots of light and quiet neighborhood. Close to shops and restaurants and a 15 minute walk (0.6 mi.) to BART which made it ideal for spending most of our days in SF.Very affordable: a steal for the Bay Area! Floors are not level, but overall cute/quirky little apartment. Perfect for the 2 of us!One note to add, if you are following Google Maps, plugging in the actual address maps you to a location behind the apartment, which is not accessible or a through street. If you use a random address from across the street it’s easier on your Uber driver or yourself.
