Chic Handicap Hotel Suite, Pet Friendly, in the Heart of Sedona
Enjoy the rustic simplicity of whitewashed adobe walls and handmade Saltillo tile floors in El Portal’s easy-access, handicap-accessible room, The Adobe. Roughhewn plank and beam ceilings add to the simple turn-of-the-century hacienda charm. Leather chairs flank a cozy tiled fireplace, while French doors lead to a private stone courtyard patio with fire pit. The comfy king sized bed features hand carved wooden posts and hand-wrought iron accents. Period lamps create soft lighting throughout. The bathroom features an open walk-in shower, stained glass accents and creative handmade tile work, flat screen TV. This is a pet friendly Sedona room for medium to large dogs.

We want you to feel like you’re a welcome and familiar guest in our home, so we’d like to take a moment and introduce you to our El Portal family. Feel free to approach any of us with special requests to help make your stay more memorable at our lovely luxury hotel.
El Portal Sedona Hotel Innkeepers, Steve and Connie Segner
Steve & Connie Segner - Owners of the luxury hotel El Portal Sedona HotelIt was Steve and Connie’s dream to build this extraordinary boutique hotel. They spent years collecting the antiques that grace El Portal’s rooms, and Steve himself built many of the wooden doors and light fixtures.
Connie manages the inn’s office, among other daily duties. If you have any special booking requests she’ll be happy to help you in any way she can.
Steve, along with Terri, acts as our primary concierge – he can arrange special tours, hikes, concerts, day trips, spa visits or any other event you’d like to experience during your stay in Sedona. He also oversees the inn’s maintenance and is the person to see if something requires attention or repair in your room.

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft
“I wanted to build an exceptional luxury inn. A hacienda where strangers are welcomed like family. A retreat where they can enjoy the serene, ageless spirit of Sedona in historic, yet luxurious surroundings.”

Das macht diese Unterkunft einzigartig
A one-of-a-kind experience can sometimes happen by accident. It can also be dreamed. This is the case with El Portal Sedona Hotel, a luxury hotel in the heart of Sedona.
The dream started in 1980 when native Californians Steve and Connie Segner first visited Sedona. Enchanted by the area, more visits followed, and soon they decided to build a home at the foot of a beautiful Red Rock mountain.
Steve and Connie's First Home in SedonaRecognizing Sedona was more than a nice geographic spot on the map, they sought to find a way to bring all the elements of nature and the soul of the Southwest they were experiencing into the creation of their new home.
With determination, they contacted experts in the fields of architecture, construction and interior design, explaining their vision of an all-inclusive feeling of oneness with the land and spirit of the Southwest.
Work began. After careful planning and execution, their vision became a reality. A spectacular home true to nature, true to the soul of Sedona, was theirs.
Their new home, built of adobe, with actual 18-inch walls, as it was done hundreds of years ago, quickly became a frequent stop on scenic drives by Sedona tourists. And, based on its accuracy of Southwestern design and quality, it became the cover story for Bob Vila’s magazine, American Home and the book, Southwest Style.
The experience of welcoming friends to their private home was wonderful for Steve and Connie. It soon became apparent that what the Segners thought was the end of their dream actually became the springboard for another: to build a luxury hotel – El Portal Sedona Hotel, an Oak Creek hotel.
