Great Apartment for a Berkeley Stay
This is really great. We stayed here for 10 days with our 3 yr old daughter, and we all loved it. The apartment is very nice (with a nice fireplace – you don't see it on the pictures) and the view from the balcony is awesome. It is so nice to have breakfast outside in the morning. And at night it is so wonderful to see the lights of Berkeley and San Francisco as well as the lights of the starting and landing airplanes of SFO airport (for those who do not know the region: don't worry SFO is so far away that you hear nothing, you just see flying lights at night). This is so relaxing, perfect to make every kid quiet and peaceful and fall asleep while watching this :-)
The wonderful apartment is well equipped and located very nice in the Berkeley hills. Grocery stores and drugstores (CVS, Walgreens, Safeways and Andronicos) are just a short drive away down the hill where you also find Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto (Shattuck Ave).
Berkeley Campus as well as the Euclid Ave (with La Val's Pizza, Nefeli Cafe – best Espresso in town – and more) is in walking distance (use the Le Roy Steps – a shortcut connecting Hilgard and Le Roy).
There are stairs from the house's street down to a school with a nice playground.
Rose Garden & Codornices Park – with a great playground – are also nearby: you could walk north/west, up the hill (approx. 15 minutes) or go two minutes by car. Awseome Tilden Park and Lake Anza are in short driving distance.
Susan and Greg (the owners) are wonderful hosts. They always respect your privacy and leave you alone, but if you need something they are there to help or chat if you want. They make you feel like staying with friends.
We had such a great time there.
