Located 1 hour north of Birmingham and south of Huntsville, Alabama's Lewis Smith Lake, commonly called “Smith Lake,” by the locals, is rated the second-cleanest lake in the country besides Lake Tahoe. Hot summers, mild winters (mostly!), and plenty of rain to keep water levels high make this an ideal region for enjoying lake life.
Enjoy private, peaceful lodging 1.5 miles from the private boat ramp and lake access located on the beautiful upper part of the Rock Creek branch of Smith Lake, which offers year-round deep water.
The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed, a spacious walk-in closet, and an en-suite bathroom with a tub/shower combo. The second bedroom provides a king-size bed and a designated work desk/dressing table. The third bedroom offers 2 twin beds and is directly across from the second full bathroom. All linens and towels are provided.
The home has a well-stocked kitchen with a stove, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, blender, and a refrigerator big enough to camp in. Off the kitchen, there is a full-size washer and dryer and access to the large outdoor back deck. The deck overlooks the wooded lot and provides a small fenced area for your pooch.
Beyond the fenced area, you will find the picnic table and fire pit. Yard games such as horseshoes and cornhole are on site as well.
The living and dining spaces are comfy, creative, and family-friendly, offering WIFI, streaming channels, and indoor games just in case it rains...otherwise, GO OUTSIDE and play!
From the home, you will be a short 1.5-mile drive to a private boat ramp to access the beautiful waters of Smith Lake. Bring your kayaks, paddleboards, or boats! A map to the boat launch and parking directions are provided. The cottage has 2 inflatable kayaks for guests to use. Life jackets are required and not provided, so bring your own!!
Several boat marinas are close by, some of which offer boat rentals, restaurants, and entertainment. Duncan Bridge Marina is the nearest and is a 15-minute drive.
ATTENTION ANGLERS!! Like a deep, clear, and blue diamond, Lewis Smith Lake is one of Alabama’s treasures. This 21,200-acre lake is different than most other Alabama reservoirs. If you typically fish a shallow, stained body of water, your first trip onto Smith Lake can be a welcome challenge. Watching your depth finder jump to 200-plus feet can leave you feeling lost. However, like most lakes, most bass, bream, and crappie fishing is done by casting to the numerous large rocks and fallen trees along the shoreline. With 500-plus miles of shoreline, there are multiple places to fish.
Smith Lake can produce trophy striped bass. Fish in the 40+ pound range are present, and some anglers feel a 50+ pound Smith Lake record may be caught one day. Live shad, available locally, are the preferred bait. There are excellent Bass Guides close by to assist you in landing THE BIG ONE!!
We just know you will fall in love with this wonderful area and all it has to offer.
