Hi! I'm Marianna, and Daylight House represents the fulfillment of a lifelong dream - but also the beginning of a brand new chapter.
After 20 years of marriage, I found myself newly single with three kids to raise: Alex (13), Sarah (9), and my oldest (who loves anonymity ha!). As a social worker by profession, I've spent my career helping families navigate difficult transitions and find moments of peace and connection. Now I'm living through my own transition, and I've channeled everything I've learned about care, resilience, and creating safe spaces into building this business.
Daylight House isn't just a vacation rental to me - it's proof that you can start over, pursue a dream you've held for decades, and build something beautiful even when life doesn't go as planned. The name "Daylight House" comes from that feeling of emerging into brightness after darkness. It's brighter here - and I mean that both literally and metaphorically.
My social work background deeply influences how I host. I genuinely care about your experience. I think about what families actually need (not just what looks good in photos). That's why you'll find a stepstool for kids, white noise machines for better sleep, a truly stocked kitchen with spices and kids' dishes, and a coffee bar that actually lets you make a decent latte. These aren't just amenities - they're thoughtful touches from someone who understands what makes a vacation restorative.
My kids are my business partners in the truest sense. Alex handles our marketing and social media with the creativity I could never match. Sarah appears in our content and helps me see the property through a child's eyes. They're learning about entrepreneurship, hospitality, and hard work. They're also learning that moms can be resilient, that dreams are worth pursuing, and that family means showing up for each other.
Can't wait to welcome you!

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft
Here's what I love about where Daylight House is located: you get the best of both worlds without the compromises that come with oceanfront properties.
We're in a quiet residential neighborhood in Ocean Isle Beach - the kind of place where you can actually hear yourself think, where kids can play outside without constant traffic, and where you won't pay premium oceanfront rates for a property where you're squeezed onto a small deck with no yard space.
But here's the magic: you're only 6 minutes to Sunset Beach and 8 minutes to Ocean Isle Beach. You get to CHOOSE your beach each day based on your mood, the crowds, or what you feel like exploring. Most oceanfront rentals lock you into one spot. We give you options.
The neighborhood itself is peaceful and safe. You'll see families on evening walks, neighbors waving hello, and absolutely zero of the noise and chaos that comes with being directly on the beach strip. After a full day of sun and surf, you want to come back to a place where you can actually relax - not more vacation crowds and traffic.
What surprised me most when I bought this property was how much guests value the spacious backyard. Oceanfront properties don't have yards - they have small decks, often shared, always packed during peak season. At Daylight House, you have private outdoor space where kids can play, adults can lounge in comfortable chairs with cup holders and footrests, and families can play bocce ball without competing for space.
Practical benefits: Easy parking (driveway plus street), nearby grocery stores (Food Lion, Lowes Foods, Publix all within 10 minutes), restaurants that locals actually eat at (not just tourist traps), and you're positioned perfectly between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach for day trip adventures.

Das macht diese Unterkunft einzigartig
Most vacation rentals look identical - generic coastal decor, builder-grade furniture. Daylight House is fundamentally different because every single detail was chosen with intention.
DESIGNER-CURATED INTERIORS:
The primary suite features moody deep blue walls, a dimmable fandelier, and a spa-like bathroom with dual vanities and a rainfall shower. It feels like a boutique hotel, not a rental. The kids' room has a whimsical woodland theme with a boat-shaped bookcase - my guests' kids ask to go back to their room because they love the vibe. The queen guest room is sleek and modern with a dramatic black and wood slat feature wall.
ACTUALLY STOCKED FOR REAL LIFE:
The kitchen isn't just "fully equipped" - it's stocked the way I'd stock my own home. Full spice rack (not just salt and pepper), crockpot, hand mixer, kids' dishes, glass storage containers. The coffee bar has regular and decaf coffee, three flavored syrups (caramel, vanilla bean, white chocolate), and a handheld frother so you can make real lattes.
REMOTE WORK READY:
High-speed fiber internet with BOTH WiFi and hardwired ethernet port. Many companies require hardwired connections for security/VPN compliance - most vacation rentals only offer WiFi. We have a dedicated workspace with a desk in the primary bedroom.
FAMILY THOUGHTFULNESS FROM A MOM:
As a mom of three, I know what families actually need. Stepstool in the bathroom. White noise machines and blackout curtains in every bedroom. Board games. Beach wagon that actually fits everything. Kids' dishes. Booster seats and Pack 'n Play available. These details come from lived experience, not a checklist.
THE INTANGIBLES:
You're booking with a family who genuinely cares, not a property management company running 50+ rentals. I respond to messages personally. I think about your experience. I want you to come back - and bring your friends. That difference shows up in the details, the cleanliness, and the genuine hospitality you'll experience.
