The secluded 4-acre property is equidistance (30 minutes) between the small towns of Blue Ridge and Ellijay where you will find a number of things to do year round! Plentiful walking/biking trails, waterfalls, tubing, and white water rafting, quaint shops and downtown eateries, multiple vineyards, and local arts & crafts. Festivals are held year-round and are fun for all ages. Fishing, Biking, 4-wheeling adventures await.
The CampAway is approximately 4 acres and houses two 1/bed 1/bath cabins - The Big Dipper Cabin and The Little Dipper Cabin. The cabins are connected via gravel driveways or hiking trails and are approximately 60 yards apart and separated by elevation and trees. Guests of both cabins have access to the Tickanetley Creek via hiking trails. The hike down to the creek from the cabins takes approximately 5-10 minutes via dirt and rock trails and should be a moderate hike for most children and adults. These are true hiking trails and may not be suitable for everyone. Being true mountain cabins, pests and bugs may sometimes make their way into the cabin even though we do spray and inspect monthly to keep them outside.

Perched on 4 wooded acres with private creek access and backed by the Chattahoochee National Forest, The Big Dipper Cabin is your cozy holiday hideaway in the North Georgia Mountains. Guests love the peaceful seclusion here — the sound of the creek below, the crackle of a fire, and the feeling of being tucked deep in the woods yet just a short drive to the festive downtowns of Ellijay and Blue Ridge, where twinkling lights, small-town charm, and hot cider await.
Inside, the cabin keeps things simple — all the necessities, none of the fluff — blending vintage camp nostalgia with warm, thoughtful touches. It’s as connected as you can get to being unconnected. The open-concept living area features a massive stone fireplace, comfy seating for four with two recliners, and a well-stocked kitchen perfect for family dinners or lazy holiday mornings. Guests often say it’s spotless, cozy, and feels like home the moment you walk in.
Step outside to take in the mountain air from the wraparound porch or gather around one of the three fireplaces — indoors, on the covered porch, or by the firepit under the stars. The dark skies allow for the stars and constellations to shine bright. Wander down the wooded trail to Tickanetley Creek, where families and pups love to splash, skip stones, and soak in the quiet. Whether you’re sipping coffee on the porch, playing vinyl by the fire, or roasting marshmallows in the crisp evening air, The Big Dipper invites you to slow down and reconnect.
✨ From Thanksgiving through New Year’s, The Big Dipper will feature light holiday décor — twinkling garlands, cozy blankets, and that unmistakable CampAway magic. Whether you’re gathering with loved ones, exploring scenic trails, or simply savoring the stillness of the season, The Big Dipper Cabin is your perfect winter basecamp for connection, comfort, and calm.
Everything you need is within a 20-45 minute beautiful scenic drive. You can explore so many small mountain towns from the cabins - Ellijay, Blue Ridge, McCaysville, Blairsville, Dawsonville & Dahlonega.
DRIVING: Last 0.5 miles of road to cabin is unpaved and bumpy at times, super low riding vehicles are NOT recommended and large recreational vehicles are NOT allowed. Print out driving instructions to and from the cabin and plan to check-in before dark.
DOGS: Dogs are WELCOME! We love our fur babies, but this property allows a maximum of two dogs and the fee is $75 per stay. Please, clean paws only in the house and if you would like to snuggle with your dog on the couch, please use the dog blanket to lay on the furniture. Additional cleaning fee may be applied for excessive shedding.
CELL SERVICE: You will lose cell service approximately 15 minutes away from the cabin (based on carrier) with some random spots along the way. You can log into WiFi once in the cabins and enable WiFi calling and send/receive text messages and emails. A landline phone is provided at the cabin and the phone number is sent along with check-in instructions.
LOFTED BEDROOM: There are no walls or doors that separate the lofted sleeping area from the living space on the main floor. This cabin would not be suitable for guests who would like privacy in sleeping quarters. Would be ideal for a small family with kids older than 5 years old.
