The location and size was perfect for a ski trip with 2 young kids and grandparents. Kids had bunk beds and parents/grandparents had their own private rooms. The condo was very clean and had all the goods in the kitchen to make breakfasts and dinners. Our only gripe was that the TV was super slow and would stop working at times (traveling with kids early bed time so TV would have been nice). The WiFi is thru the hotel and there were many families staying at the resort and the Olympics was on so I think it just got over loaded. Also the place was clean but had an odor when we got there.

Rooney Family Ski Vacation 2025

This is our 8th year coming to Mammoth Lakes and we're never surprised by the wonderful accommodations and the awesome staff at the resort. Even Though, it was a private rental, the staff was awesome! The check - in / check - out process was very simple. The accommodations were great for out party of 5. We had our only difficulty on actually figuring out parking and getting to our room. The rest was a breeze. The rooms were great, clean. Kitchen could be outfitted with a few more items, ie coffee, blender, mixing bowls.

Best spot ever for easy access to Eagle Lodge! Unit was terrific- right off the elevator so didn't have to lug suitcases and groceries very far- a big plus! Clean, well appointed, large enough so my family of 5 had plenty of space to spread out. Eagle right across the street! We will definitely stay here again.Plenty of towels for jacuzzi. Everything well thought out.

Well appointed unit and great location.

This unit was very nice and had all the amenities. The reason why I gave it 4 stars is because the unit was extremely warm and we had to use all the box fans provided. Additionally, the walls and ceiling are thin and it was a bit noisy.

We are so sorry this guest was unhappy! We always strive to make every guest stay as perfect as possible, inspecting every property twice between every departure/arrival. Our staff are human of course, and so even if we hit 95%, that still leaves some issues from time to time for guests to contend with. I would say the unit was warm, because California was undergoing a heatwave. Nevertheless Mammoth never exceeded 85° at any time this summer. I’m not sure why we would be graded down for the weather? We are in the guest service business, not the weather business :) While we cannot change the weather, we can provide fans (which we did). We also have air conditioners available for rent for a daily fee. (This guest made no request.) If you have any questions about the property you are considering, and if you have specific needs or expectations, we have local staff in Mammoth available 7 days per week to talk to you or answer any questions. We know every property on our program and are happy to help to make sure you are booking the best property for your needs and budget. Please call or email us 7 days per week.

Just ok

Everything about the stay was fine except the ad said there would be ac and there wasn’t. Thankfully the staff helped us out quickly. They put a portable ac unit in the living room. Unfortunately the main bedroom would never cool off at night- no matter how many fans we used. We love the location of the lodge.

We are so sorry you were inconvenienced during your stay! We always strive to make every guest stay as perfect as possible, inspecting every property twice between every departure/arrival. Our staff are human of course, and so even if we hit 95%, that still leaves some issues from time to time for guests to contend with. We manage about 65 properties and not one of them has central air conditioning (absolutely none are advertised as having A/C). Mammoth Lakes is a mountain town at 9000 above sea level. Our hottest days in the summer are in the 80s. It is very breezy here year round. I am unaware of any property other than commercial spaces that are air conditioned in Mammoth. Like a beach town, you just need to open a couple windows. In the event of unseasonably hot weather, we do stock several portable air conditioning units and they can be rented for a delay fee (includes the electricity costs) with about 24 hours notice. Please call in advance to inquire/schedule a rental if you think you will need an A/C unit. Thanks so much for staying with Mammoth Five Star Lodging! Great place just really smelly

The condo was extremely stinky. We had to have the windows open the whole time. There was either mildew or something that died somewhere. Also, a bummer not to be able to see out the windows at all. But that is part of an epic winter. Crazy that on a second-floor apartment you couldn't see out at all due to excessive snow. Overall, we liked the place and loved the location, just really frustrating to have it smell.

We have not had smell complaints in the unit before, however this guest stayed at the end of the greatest record setting winter in Mammoth history and we did receive an almost unimaginable 75+ feet of snow, and as it thaws and melts away there may be some mildew issues to address (due to the fact it is still too cold to open windows for air). We would have gladly sent our cleaning staff to help, and we will definitely seek to address this concern right away. Unfortunately, this guest never contacted our office to give us an opportunity to correct any of these issues. If you have trouble during your stay, I encourage you to contact your VR manager while you are in the property, as they may well be prepared to handle your concerns. We have 18 full time staff members in our housekeeping, maintenance and guest services departments who we can call upon to resolve problems. If this happens, or if you are concerned about problems with a unit you are considering, please call our offices at Mammoth Five Star Lodging. We have staff available by phone or email, 7 days/week, 9am-6pm (Pacific) to ensure you book exactly the property you want and to address issues that may come up during your stay. We are happy to help if you will just give us the chance.

Great location

We enjoyed our stay, although I feel like we overpaid for what we got, but I will write it off to booking only two weeks prior to coming. It was nice having three bedrooms and a kitchen within walking distance to the slopes. Kitchen was pretty well stocked and beds were comfortable enough. The unit itself was close to the lobby so it was noisy from time to time as the front door was very thin. Overall though, it was a nice option.

You cannot beat the location of this property BUT the condo needs some work! First, immediately upon check in we noticed a smell. As our time there progressed the smell got worse. The thermostats do not work properly and you cannot adjust temp...so you burn up! Even when we switched all fireplaces/thermostats to off...it didnt matter! The thermostat constantly said it was 76 degrees. We had to open doors to cool it off. Finally, as a 2nd floor unit directly next to the lobby the sounds from everywhere are SO LOUD. People walking on floor above sound amplified. In fact, if you are in master bathroom and the guest above are in the bathroom it causes your bathroom lights to flicker off! Location cant be beat, so place is ok as long as you spend no time in the actual condo! Between the smell and sounds we will not be back and would not recommend. Even our 17 year old BOY said it smelled...so you know it was bad!

Megan holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a strong background in hospitality management, sales, and marketing. In addition to operating a vacation rental company, Megan often advises other resort management companies as a consultant. Her husband Jason also holds a Bachelor's degree from UCSB in Film and Media Studies and has a background in real estate finance and transactions.
