if you want to get away from it all. You have 54 acres of ranch, open space and forest around you, instead of being in a subdivision surrounded by other cabins and people. The rental house was our parents' home on our horse ranch. We live on the ranch about a ¼ mile apart from the rental. Our ranch and the surrounding Sequoia National Forest are a relaxed place to get away from crowds and in tune with nature on the trails on the ranch and the surrounding National Forest. Relax and enjoy the great views, watching wildlife and the horses or stargaze from the from the large front porch or the back deck. If you have not seen the night sky away from the city, you will be amazed. All summer & winter mountain sports can be enjoyed. Hiking, horse riding on ranch & surrounding Forest Service Trails. Dirt bikes and E-bikes on designated Forest Service trails only. Then again you may just want to cozy up to the fireplace with a book.
We provide an information book on area sites and activities. There is a small stream, Poso Creek, you can explore on National Forest public land very close to the ranch with a road and trails from the ranch to it. Fish in the Poso creek are small natives that take skill to catch. There are other streams in the area you can fish, the ones that are planted with fish are about 45 minutes away or the Kern River an hour away. There are forest service trails and roads in the area. There are two historic lookouts about 30 minutes away and Giant Seqouia groves such as those along the Trail of 100 Giants about 40 miles or 1 hour away.
In the spring and summer white water rafting can be booked in Kernville on the Kern River about 36 miles (1 hour) away along with boating and fishing in lake Isabella.
In winter, if there is enough snow, you can x-country ski, snow mobile, snowshoe. While we do not get snow real often, we do get snow several times between Oct and May. Sometimes about 3 feet. You must be prepared to use 4x4 or chains in winter as snows can happen suddenly. The roads are not plowed at night and only once about midday. When there is over a foot 4X4 and chains are needed if you need to leave before they plow. So, check weather often. The driveway is up hill to leave so if it snows you usually need to park at the top by the county road. The closest downhill ski area is Shirley Meadows, about 30 minutes away, but they do not have enough snow to be open all winter. The closest ski area opened most of the winter is China Pk. about 2 hours away.

You are responsible for any cleanup or damage and if you rent that means you agree to pay for any costs related to pets. But be advised that dogs must be controlled at all times.
