2nd Street Cottage is an adorable and convenient place to stay in Bend, Oregon. It is clean, well organized, and comfortable. It had everything we needed. It is walking distance from the downtown square. Great suggestions on things to see and do were provided to us. The communication with host was excellent from booking through checkout. 10/10! For 2 of us, this cottage was perfect! It has everything you need and Don is a fantastic host. Very comfortable and clean and a great location. We even had deer hanging out with us in the back yard. Highly recommended if you are visiting Bend!

The cottage was so well thought out. It's neat and clean and stocked with everything you would need. It was the perfect home base for us while we spent the week in Bend. Absolutely lovely

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. The location is perfect with a short walk to the river and Old Bend. The cottage was clean, comfortable and we loved the way it was furnished. The patio is absolutely delightful. They have thought of everything. We had contemplated staying at a hotel for our brief stay but so glad we didn't. This was so much better. Highly recommend.

Don is very thoughtful to include incidental items such as soap, shampoo, yoga mat, to go coffee cups and even a state forest parking pass. Superb accommodations in Bend

The perfect home base for our explorations in Bend and the surrounding areas. Don was an excellent and welcoming host, providing plenty of suggestions and local knowledge on places to explore, including our favorite - waterfalls. The cottage is clean, cozy and warm with everything needed to make for a comfortable stay. Outside spaces are serene and inviting - both in 70-degree warm weather and in the snow, as we found out on our spring break trip! The convenience of being walking-distance to everything in old Bend can't be overstated. We also greatly appreciated having the EV charger - waking up to a full battery every morning, ready to go. We can't wait to come back!

Perfect cottage for a couple

This is a wonderful VRBO experience. Don and Marline have everything you need in this place. Great location that is easy walking distance to downtown eating and entertainment and all the riverfront trails. Extremely clean. They have put together a comprehensive guidebook for the facilities and exploring the area. They have even provided passes for state parks! Wonderful deck space for relaxing. You can hear the waterfalls that are just 2 blocks away. We hope to someday return to Bend and wIll definitely pick this place.

Brief stay in Bend

My husband and I were planning a trip to Portland for a wedding and wanted to spend a few days in Bend before the wedding. Don and Marlines cottage was perfect. They have thought of everything and provided a lovely place for a stopover or lengthier stay that left us wanting to stay longer. The cottage is perfectly located to take advantage of everything Bend has to offer. It is within a short Walking distance to the river, breweries and amazing restaurants. Although we didn’t spend a lot of time in the cottage what we did spend there was extremely comfortable. They have created a beautiful cottage in a lovely garden with a private patio for the guest cottage and gave great advice for restaurants and area trips. Highly recommended!!

Superior in all categories.

I would rate this property as superior in all categories. Don and his wife, Marline, anticipated and provided all the amenities that anyone could want for this cozy two-person cottage. The cottage was spotless, airy, and well appointed. The yard and gardens were lovely. Don was friendly, personable, and professional. He eagerly provided suggestions for dining as well as outdoor activities. In the cottage, there many printed resources for the City of Bend and its surrounding attractions. My wife and I would certainly stay here again when we visit Bend.

Our Second Time at Second Street

This is our 2nd straight year staying in the Second Street Cottage and we enjoyed both experiences very much. To begin, Don is easily the best and most accommodating host that we have stayed with during our ventures out to the PNW. He is always there to greet us with a couple of beers and a special surprise in the fridge. Don has given us tons of information on the area and a multitude of personal advice, we feel as though he is like a friend to us. The cottage is quiet, secluded and the backyard is beautiful. Everything is clean, well kept, and well stocked with all of the necessary condiments, teas, coffee, etc. that any vacationer would need on a trip out to Bend. Furthermore, the cottage is in a pristine location, only a very short walk from beautiful Drake Park and the Deschutes and the restaurants and shops of downtown as well as a quick walk down to up and coming Galveston and all of the activities there. The Second Street Cottage made both of our visits to Bend feel more personal, and I genuinely couldn't imagine visiting bend without staying here! Don's beautiful property might even have convinced us to move toward the area as well! Don, Marline, and the cottage have been amazing for the past 2 years and we hope to return again sometime soon.

Excellent!

Clean, comfortable and well appointed property with very responsive and respectful hosts! We had a wonderful stay. We walked from the cottage to restaurants, breweries, the ice cream shop and the trail along the river. I cooked dinner and breakfast in the cottage and all cookware and utensils were easy to find and in good repair. Highly recommend!

Don and Marline Ptacnik (say-Tack Nick) were married under the large White Birch located in the yard between The Cottage and their home. Years later, one of our daughters was also married in the yard. That ceremony took place on the small terrace just outside the Cottage. We love our home and the large yard (.25 acres+) within which the Cottage is located. Between us, we have three adult children and eight grandchildren. Marline is a retired health care executive and Don, your primary host is Marline's Gardener and Painter. We both enjoy people and sharing our secluded space in Downtown Bend. Don has lived in central Oregon for over 50 years and has participated in a number of activities which has provided him with a broad base of knowledge in the available outdoor opportunities. You are welcome to ask for suggestions ranging from the best hikes, automobile tours, bicycle trails/routes to the hidden jewels of coffee shops, museums and other cultural offerings. We want our guests to be pleasantly surprised by the luxury and charm of the Cottage, the grounds and of course, the overall experience. We recognize guests have numerous choices competing for their entertainment dollars and want to provide excellent value and a memorable experience. When every guest departs our goal is to hear them say ...”We will return and will recommend The Second Street Cottage to all our friends”. So far, so good!
