Knotty Pine Old Time Cabin - Family built in 1955 - Central Heat - Lg Deck - A/C
Enjoy your mountain stay at our family cabin that my father & grandfather built in the 1950’s. The Red Cabin with all knotty pine walls & ceilings, has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, & large decks in the middle of mature pine trees. It is a true “cabin” that gives a real cabin experience. We hope it will feel like your home away from home, like it has to our family for almost 70 years.
There are stairs leading to the main level access doors. The Red Cabin is 16 miles from Pinecrest Lake, 19 miles to Dodge Ridge Ski/Mountain Biking Resort, and 9 miles to Black Oak Casino. Yosemite, Lake Don Pedro, and Lake Tulloch are also great day trips.
Located in Mi-Wuk Village, the Red Cabin is close to plenty of restaurants and shops and is in the Sierra Nevada mountains of the Stanislaus National Forest where guests enjoy hiking, fishing, biking, skiing, and camping.
This 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1000sq ft two-story house has one bedroom on the main level, and two bedrooms upstairs. The Red Cabin is ideal for a family, or a small group.

Considerations/Disclosures :
• Our Community: The Red Cabin is NOT a party house. We have known our neighbors for decades and we have many fulltime neighbors nearby. • Cameras: The Red Cabin has exterior cameras. We care about the security of our cabin and our community. • Parking: Our driveway fits 3 cars. 2 side by side on the parking pad and 1 on the driveway. • Accessibility: There are stairs from the driveway to the front deck leading to the front door. • BBQ & Propane Firepit: Propane tanks are available, but not actively maintained. Consider bringing your own tank or exchanging the existing tanks at the local gas stations and at Mi Wuk Market. • Wildlife: We are a mountain cabin and we live among wildlife: bears, wild turkey, deer, mountain lions, etc. • Trash: Trash is an issue in mountain areas. You will be asked to take your trash home with you past our one bag per night allowance. Please do not leave food outside at any time! This is a big attraction for bears. Pick up day is Monday. If your stay includes Sunday night please roll the garbage to the street Sunday night as Monday pickup is usually early. Recycling is every other week. There is a schedule in the Welcome binder.
Cabin Policies: - No smoking - No pets allowed - No events, parties, or large gatherings - Must be at least 25 years old to book

Please note that snow is not removed from decks & the rest of the property by the hosts. However, shovels are provided for guests.
-There have been power outages in the past and road closures due to storms. Travel insurance is recommended. -Please note that we do not accept any liability if you’re snowed in/out, experience loss of power, road closures, or other issues out of the host's control. The cabin was very cozy. We loved the gas fireplace which we used more than the whole house heating unit. The king bed upstairs was soft and comfortable and the WiFi and tv worked well. The location was great for our day trips to Twain Harte and Pinecrest Lake and we enjoyed the quiet evenings relaxing on the front deck. We would recommend this cabin.

Our host was very responsive. The cabin was fully stocked with everything you could need in kitchen. Bring your food and drinks, nearest large stores are in Sonora. There were plenty of games available at the cabin, as well. It was truly a cabin in the forest experience.

The rustic cabin had homey touches and was great for our group of five. Paulette and her husband were super responsive. The kitchen and bathroom had everything we needed. We were able to log on to a few of our different streaming services through the Roku. The neighborhood was a great home base for our day trips to Leland Snow Play, the Sno-Park in Strawberry, and downtown Sonora. It is a self-built rustic cabin, so I recommend bringing slippers for those with naturally cold feet. With that said, there were plenty of blankets and extra space heaters to keep us warm all day and night both upstairs and downstairs.

Fabulous Ski Weekend in a Cozy Cabin
Our family stayed at this cabin with friends for a long ski weekend at Dodge Ridge. The home is cozy and inviting with a well stocked kitchen, hang out area, and sleeping space. We hope to visit the house again in the summer as there is a fantastic deck out back that would be amazing to enjoy in the evening. The home is conveniently located in Mi-Wuk with a short drive up to Dodge Ridge, Pinecrest Lake, and The Sugar Shack - one of our favorites for breakfast. The property owners were very friendly and helpful with local recommendations for restaurants. They were very responsive before and during our stay, including when we ran into an issue with a smoke alarm, and they addressed if immediately. We look forward to staying here again and highly recommend the Red Cabin!

I highly recommend this property to anyone seeking an authentic, comfortable mountain retreat!
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Knotty Pine Old Time Cabin! From the moment we arrived, we felt immersed in a charming, cozy mountain getaway. The cabin’s knotty pine walls and overall decor brought feelings of simpler vintage times, while modern amenities like central heating and high-speed WiFi kept us comfortable throughout our stay.
The layout was perfect for the two of us. It was even a bit too big since the cabin has three bedrooms, each thoughtfully decorated. We particularly loved the large deck nestled among towering pines—a great spot to enjoy our morning coffee, take in the fresh mountain air, and grill in the evening. The kitchen was also well-stocked with everything we needed, which made cooking a breeze.
Location-wise, this cabin is fantastic! It’s a quick drive to Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge, and we loved having easy access to hiking trails in the Stanislaus National Forest. Despite being so close to nature, we also enjoyed the convenience of nearby shops and restaurants in both Mi-Wuk Villiage and Twain Harte.
Paulette’s attention to detail, from clear check-in instructions to cabin guides, was impressive, and her family’s pride in this property shows. This cabin felt like a home away from home, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Über den Gastgeber
Zu Gast bei Paulette Staats
Hi renter,
I'm Paulette, a wife, mom of 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren. I’m a full-time manager of a Fitness Club & Spa. I've been in the Fitness & Spa industry for my entire career, so hospitality is my life. This cabin is very special to me since I have enjoyed it my entire life. I watched my dad do the finish work for years and my husband, brother & friends build new decks, put in central heat and new flooring throughout.
We bought the cabin next door so we are nearby often and this is why we decided to join VRBO to share our special family cabin with you.
Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft
My parents chose Mi Wuk Village in the 1950's after years of fishing and camping all over California. Every time I drive here, I am grateful they chose this area since it is the closest mountain area to the Bay Area. Easy to get to and not much driving in the snow. Our family loves this area so much, one of our daughters moved up here full time.
Das macht diese Unterkunft einzigartig
Being built by my father and grandfather is the first thing that I think of. I have been coming to our cabin my entire life and have so many wonderful memories. It is a "real" cabin, with all knotty pine walls and ceilings. It even smells like a real cabin. We have done updates like adding central heat, new flooring, a new large deck out back and of course wi-fi & smart TVs.
