This garden-level apartment is just steps from the Convention Center, blocks from the metro station and a few minutes drive to all of DC’s major monuments. You can easily walk to trendy restaurants and shops.

This unit is located on the lower level of our home. It was renovated in 2023 & comes fully equipped with modern appliances & amenities. It’s 4 bed, 2 full baths, half bath & full kitchen set-up is ideal for families & groups. Considering its central location, you won’t want to pass it up!

***This is the lower level unit in a historic DC rowhome that is over 130 years old (built in the 1890s!) so you WILL hear noise (i.e. footsteps) from the upstairs house, as the original floors are squeaky. We provide earplugs and white noise machines in each bedroom for your comfort.***

Guests must: (1) read our entire listing and house rules section, (2) sign our rental agreement shortly after booking & ID must be provided, (3) submit refundable security deposit hold*, and (4) full payment prior to check-in.
*Security deposit hold required of $300. Deposit hold to be processed by host on guest's credit card. Deposit hold will be taken out 3 days prior to check-in and returned in full 7 days after check out, absent damages/violations.

There are cameras on the exterior of the home. They are motion activated, record video and audio, and are active during reservations. This helps us to avoid unauthorized events / parties. Our goal is for our guests and neighbors to both have an enjoyable experience!

The place is centrally located in a wonderful lively area with constant foot traffic, great restaurants, etc - street noise is possible. If you are an especially light sleeper, or value quiet over location, we may not be a good fit for you. We provide ear plugs and white noise machines for your comfort.

The ceiling height is about 6 feet 8 inches.

We live in the upstairs house so it’s possible you may see us/others staying upstairs during your stay.

All of the bedrooms are on the smaller side, ranging from 70 - 80 sq ft. When the trundle beds are pulled out for use, the beds will take up the majority of each room. For this reason, we have foldable / collapsible side tables, desks, and chairs which are stored in each room's closet for maximum flexibility.

🚙 Parking
There is usually street parking available in the area. Pay attention to all parking signs to avoid tickets!
If you'll have more than one vehicle, there are several parking lots 5-7 mins walking distance from the place. There are pictures of those options in the listing.

🦮 Pet limitations
We are unable to accommodate animals other than dogs at this time.
• any and all pets must be pre-approved by owner prior to booking • up to 2 dogs allowed (there is a fee per dog) • must be housebroken and up-to-date on vaccines • permitted on furniture only if covered • may not be left unattended at any time • back gate must be left closed when not in use • must be leashed in front yard • must comply with all local leash laws.
We are a dog friendly property and we have a phenomenal cleaning team but they are human so there is a possibility for human error, if there is an issue during your stay let us know and we will try to address it! Since we are dog friendly, those with severe allergies will need to consider our home’s suitability for their unique needs.

🤫 Quiet Hours
11PM-7AM: You MUST keep noise to a minimum from 11pm to 7am. As a row house the walls are shared with the neighbors. Noise can travel easily, and we are in regular communication with neighbors. We request guests be respectful of the neighbors and quiet hours.

GETTING AROUND
The National Mall, Museums, US Capitol, and White House are all about a 10 min drive or 30 min walk away
The nearest Metro station is about a 7-9 min walk and is the Mt. Vernon/Convention Center Metro Station - this station has yellow and green line trains running directly to Downtown DC, National Mall, Convention Center, Nat's Stadium, Reagan National Airport / DCA and can connect you to all Metro lines to access anywhere you want to go across the city.

The House is located in the Shaw-Mt. Vernon Square area. Shaw is one of the city’s hippest enclaves, with craft cocktail bars, beer gardens, indie clothing boutiques and trendy global restaurants. This historically African-American neighborhood is home to the 1910 Howard Theatre, where jazz greats like Ella Fitzgerald and D.C. local Duke Ellington once performed. Today the venue hosts all sorts of music concerts and other events. Home to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Mount Vernon Square is a small area adjacent to its namesake park and the imposing early-1900s Carnegie Library building. The neighborhood is dotted with hotels, sleek bars and upscale New American, Italian and Spanish restaurants, which cater largely to conference-goers and a smartly dressed business crowd.

We had a wonderful stay. Walking distance to lots of restaurants. Really spacious living room/kitchen area and bedrooms were comfortable too. Hosts were really great with communication throughout

Impressed with the thoughtfulness of the host. Everything we needed was provided, slippers, candies, a welcoming bottle of beer, etc. to name a few. Very pleased with the stay. Will come back definitely.

Beautiful home away from home while sightseeing DC. Conveniently located in a safe neighborhood. We walked to the National Mall, Capitol, and Smithsonians. We also caught the bus once, easily done near the house. Wecaught ride shares home a couple times too. We parked our large Expedition out on the street as promised in the listing. Never any issue parking right in front of the house. We drove our car out to Arlington. The house close to Aldi and Safeway for groceries. Kitchen had everything we needed! Enjoyed the board games, ACs in every bedroom, well-stocked bathrooms too. Beds were comfortable. Noise from above was as described in the listing; ranging from unnoticeable at times to more distracting at other times. It was worth it, because we wanted the experience of a rowhouse. We enjoyed having this beautifully decorated, clean home to come back to after a long hot day walking around DC.
