Enjoy the views atop Quincy Hill from this 143+ year old landmark. The Maid's Quarters Suite includes ceiling fans in both the bedroom and living room, is on the 2nd floor, no elevator and 500 sq. ft. Our private driveway is large with plenty of free parking and turn around space for trucks with trailers.
**For those sensitive to pets: we have a couple resident cats who patrol this old house and its many nooks and crannies so please be aware if you are prone to allergy. They are kept out of the Maid's Quarters at all times and are very cleanly maintained.
Quincy House, completed in 1882 is an Italianate Victorian mansion built by Quincy Mining Company to prominently house its highest ranking area official, the Mine Agent. It is the last standing mining company agent's house among the many mines that once exploited the area for copper. Built more lavishly than other mine company structures, it served as a social center during the copper mine boom. Quincy House is currently undergoing restoration and preservation. You're staying in the private, newly restored rear section of the house. We reside in the separate but connected front section that is under restoration. Both sections are closed off from each other and you will not be disturbed by construction during your stay. Your privacy and comfort is our utmost concern. We are happy to give guests tours and talk about the history upon request.
Quincy House has, is and will be undergoing restoration and preservation for years to come. In no way will this negatively effect your stay. In fact you will be able to witness how we are transforming and restoring this famous 143+ year old Victorian Mansion back into the monarch of Quincy Hill it once was.
In addition, your stay will benefit the house as all proceeds we receive from your visit are put directly into the Quincy House Preservation Foundation, a 501c3 charitable nonprofit organization formed and operated by us to restore and sustain the house now and for the future as a valuable historic educational interpretation of Copper Country history.

Hi! We're David & Zach and we purchased this property as our home and life's project in 2021. We are only the 3rd titled owners of the house in its 140+ year history. The 3+ acre property includes the 10,000 square foot Quincy House along with its carriage house/barn with original horse stalls and 2-car garage built in the 1910s. The house came with a multitude of needed updating, mainly cosmetics, and restoring the house is an ongoing labor of love. We have formed the Quincy House Preservation Foundation, a 501c3 public charitable non-profit, to aid the process of preserving the house's place as historical interpretation of the area's copper mining contributions that helped economic booms both locally and nationally. All proceeds from your vacation rental stay are put back into the non-profit to further preservation efforts of the house.
Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft
The Keweenaw Peninsula lies within the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and is home of rich mining history, 4 season outdoor sports including boating, fishing, skiing and off-roading on ATV's during the warm months and snowmobiling in the cold months. Lake Superior and countless inland lakes provide endless possibilities along with wildlife and bird watching, Northern Lights spotting and fall colors rivaling the famous fall colors of the east coast. The pristine natural beauty and abundant forests and wildlife make the Keweenaw and Copper Country a popular, yet uncrowded, vacation destination.
Das macht diese Unterkunft einzigartig
Quincy House, located on Quincy Hill in Hancock adjacent to the Quincy Mine and along executive row, was completed in 1882 and built by Quincy Mining Company to house it's leading area executive, the Agent (aka Superintendent). Mr. Charles Lawton was Quincy Mine's longtime agent and was given the house in lieu of back pay in 1939 as the mine was ceasing operations. After his passing in 1946, his widow Grace lived in the house with the help of a maid and gardener until her death in 1971. The house then sold to Charles and Angela Anderson who maintained the property in large part as student rental rooms for MTU graduate students. In 2021, after nearly 50 years of ownership, they sold to David Bossert and Zachary Nick who aim to restore the preserve the house as close to it's original Victorian style and grandeur as possible.
