While we take great pride in providing exceptional service and maintaining the highest standards of integrity, Joshua's conduct was unacceptable and left us with no choice but to warn fellow hosts about his behavior. Upon discovering that our property did not fully meet his expectations, Joshua attempted to extort $1000 from us by threatening to leave a negative review if we did not comply. We declined to engage in such unethical behavior, and, as a result, he carried out his threat with a defamatory review filled with false accusations. Our property listing clearly stated that it has 5 beds in 4 rooms, with one large bedroom combining 2 rooms and featuring 2 queen-sized beds. However, Joshua falsely claimed that we lied about the number of bedrooms and beds in our listing. Moreover, he inaccurately alleged that our property lacked hot water, despite his team eventually confirming that it was available after letting it run for a short time. Joshua's attempt at extortion, along with his false and misleading review, has led us to strongly advise other hosts against renting their properties to him. It is disappointing when a guest, such as Mr. Ryan, chooses to be dishonest and distort their experience in this manner. Allow us to clarify the points raised: 1. The listing is accurately described as a five-bedroom house, according to the official plans submitted to the city. We opted to combine two bedrooms into one large room to offer a more expansive view of the water, as requested by many of our previous guests. This detail is clearly highlighted in our listing, but Mr. Ryan overlooked it and misrepresented this fact in his review. 2. We have never advertised our property as having air conditioning, as the majority of homes in the area, including ours, do not require it due to the cool climate. Despite this, Mr. Ryan complained about the lack of air conditioning, which is not a feature we have ever claimed to offer. 3. Our standard checkout time is 10 AM, as stated in our communications. Due to an error on our site that indicated an 11 AM checkout, we allowed Mr. Ryan to stay longer as a courtesy. We were surprised to see him misrepresent this accommodation as an inconvenience.
