Spacious, yet quaint, 1846, restored historic home. Highlighting original plank flooring, exposed brick walls, fenced yard. This is a property that will take you back in time. Please notice that the house has been restored, not a modernization. Everything done to the house had the intention of maintaining as much of the original integrity as possible. The decor is vintage and antique.

Located at the entrance to Cross Creek Park on the Thompson Hill side with brand new playgrounds, fishing pier, boat and kayak launch, and pavilions and hiking trails.

Located in Historic West Middletown, a long home of William McKeever whose sons had ties to John Brown and the Underground Railroad. The house itself was originally owned by Dr. Archibald Campbell whose family founded the Christian Church and Bethany College.

The quaint town of West Middletown offers our restaurant, Marsha Cassel's Kitchen on Main which features homemade just about everything, fresh soups, salads, appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, desserts, herbal teas and more. I will deliver a breakfast to you or serve you at the restaurant!

Local attractions include Cross Creek Park with 300+ acre lake for fishing and nearby hunting, and the Meadowcroft Museum of Rural Life and Rock Shelter. I've put together a welcome guide for renters with lots of details about things you can do during your visit to the house.

Golfers can enjoy public golf courses within 8 miles. Music venues are 17 Miles away to the Pepsi Road House and The Pavillion at Star Lake is just beyond that. It is a lovely drive.

Very cool house, loved all the historic Knickknacks & things placed nicely around the home. Rooms were decorated lovely. Marsha was a lovely host. We took the toddlers over to the kitchen she owns next door and the food was great, very friendly people. My dog loved the yard; however he loved that he could slip under the fence doors and escape for exploration lol so just be weary of that if you have a dog who likes to wonder. There’s an AWESOME state park down the hill from the house and the playground was a big hit with my kids.

We had a lovely time. The small town's water main was having trouble so we were under a boil order for drinking water. Marsha had three gallons of bottled water waiting for us when we arrived and provided "apology" desserts from her restaurant. Regrettably, the restaurant had to close because of the water issues, and given the quality of the desserts we really missed out!A few considerations for future guests: take a morning to sit out on the patio to listen to the birds; consider earplugs if you are troubled by traffic noise; the house is old and uneven, so not great for those with mobility issues; there are loads of antiques, so not really kid friendly.

"apology" desserts from Marsha since the town's water was having trouble. The blueberry pie was particularly excellent.

Great House

A wonderful house and wonderful host to go along with it! My boys had a baseball tournament in the area so this was way better than a crammed hotel. And we got to bring our dogs along!!! Highly recommended!

Overall a good experience

There were some minor hiccups that were easily fixed. I would just warn travelers that this is indeed a historic home. While the place was charming and pretty clean, the a/c situation was not ideal. The home is also difficult to access and navigate for those who have physical limitations. The host was 10/10. She was very responsive and kind.

Friends weekend

Lovely old home. The house is in a quiet town that was a nice midpoint between our destinations. We ventured down to the WV Penitentiary, Washington and Pittsburgh. None of these places seemed far from the house. We could come back if staying in the area again.

A Charming Dream

This home is beautifully cozy and feels like home! I really enjoyed all the thoughtful details and the charm of the 19th century character it holds. I spent the evening on the front porch swing admiring the dogwood tree and watching the sunset - truly a breath of fresh air! Marsha was an incredibly kind and communicative host and you MUST go to her restaurant across the street! It was absolutely fantastic! Highly recommend staying here if you’re in the area.

Thanksgiving Stay

We stayed at here over the Thanksgiving holiday, enabling us to celebrate with our daughter who is going to school in Washington, PA. The home is lovely - neat, clean, and cozy. The kitchen was perfect for cooking a big meal, and we had a lot of fun sitting around the kitchen table playing games. Marsha was a wonderful host - attentive, communicative, and very, very sweet. They even left treats for our dog! Overall, it was a great experience.
