The Space
Monumental Escape spans three thoughtfully appointed floors, giving your group room to spread out while staying connected.
Top Floor — Three bedrooms, including two kings and one queen, two full bathrooms, and an in-unit laundry room. This floor is ideal for the primary sleepers in your group who want privacy and comfort.
Main Floor: An open-concept living and entertaining space featuring a fully stocked kitchen, dining room, living room, and a convenient half bathroom. The front porch and outdoor deck with gas grill (guests provide propane) are accessible from this level, making it the natural hub for group gatherings and meals together.
Basement: A self-contained lower level with one private bedroom featuring a queen bed and a full bathroom. The basement also includes a kitchenette, a second living room with a queen air mattress for additional guests, and a flexible office space with a pullout futon, perfect for groups needing extra sleeping capacity or a private workspace. Please note there is no access to the storage room and storage closet in the basement during your stay.

The home features central heating and air conditioning throughout, keeping every level comfortable year-round. Please note this is an older DC rowhouse; the basement tends to run cooler and the top floor warmer, which works well for groups with different temperature preferences. Please also note that there are approximately 8 steps to enter from the front and 16 steps from the back.
Kid Friendly
Monumental Escape is one of DC`s most family-ready group homes. The property includes baby gates, child locks on kitchen cabinets, kid-friendly plates and silverware, a baby bath, a changing table, age-appropriate toys and reading materials, and arcade games for rainy days or evening fun. A turf field, community center, and playground are located just half a block from the house.
Outdoor Space & Parking
The furnished front porch is a perfect spot for morning coffee or evening unwinding. The furnished outdoor deck with a gas grill makes al fresco dining easy; guests provide their own propane. Two designated off-street parking spaces are included. Please note that fitting two vehicles into the designated spots requires some maneuvering; larger vehicles may prefer the free street parking available with a visitor pass. Street parking in this neighborhood is generally easy to find.
The Location
Monumental Escape is perfectly positioned on one of DC`s most exciting corridors. You are a 5-minute walk from H Street, lined with Michelin-starred restaurants, boutique shops, bookstores, bars, and a theater. Standout dining includes Daru, Marketto, Bronze, Toki Underground, Cane, and Laos in Town. Union Market is a 15-minute walk, offering two food halls, Union Market with every cuisine imaginable and La Cosecha for Latin food, plus Michelin-starred El Cielo and Masseria, boutique shopping, and a Trader Joe`s. Two farmers` markets are nearby: the H Street Farmers Market on Saturdays (a 5-minute walk) and one directly across the street on Sundays. Gallaudet University, the renowned university for the Deaf community, is just a few blocks away, and several neighborhood restaurants and businesses are Deaf-owned and operated, including the local Starbucks, making for a genuinely unique cultural experience.

A bus stop is located directly across the street. For guests with vehicles, two designated parking spaces are included, and free street parking with a visitor pass is readily available nearby. Rideshare operates throughout the area.

Monumental Escape is a fully private rental; your group has exclusive access to the entire home, outdoor spaces, and parking for the duration of your stay. We are available 24/7 by call or text for anything that comes up during your stay. A fully refundable security hold will be authorized within 5 days of arrival and released within 48 hours of checkout inspection.
