The Henhouse-A Tiny Home on Wheels-Pet Friendly

Welcome to The Henhouse! An elegant camper perfect for relaxing and recharging, just minutes from downtown Van Buren—one of the 11 charming villages in Van Buren County. Experience warm southern Iowa hospitality with access to antiques, unique dining, golf, a community pool, two National Historic Districts, specialty shops, resident artisans, and nearby Amish and Mennonite communities. Outdoor adventures await in state parks, lakes, forests, and wetlands, with a boat ramp only 500 yards away.

Unwind in the graveled space near the camper, where you can grill out, enjoy a fire, and enjoy the beautiful views. This outdoor area is ideal for playing, relaxing, and embracing nature! Guests can fish, lounge at the community swing gazebo with a fire pit, play outdoor games, or watch the sunset.

This Army Veteran-owned camper features a Queen-size bed and two fold-out couches, providing a comfortable space for families. Inside, you’ll find an intelligent television, DVD player, free Wi-Fi, and a kitchenette with essentials for a pleasant stay, including a refrigerator, microwave/convection oven, electric skillet, crock pot, K-cup coffee maker, and toaster.

The Henhouse is situated in a private community along the river bottom, with neighbors approximately fifty yards to the right and left. We strive to respect everyone’s space, but please be aware that some noise may occasionally come from surrounding neighbors. We also have dogs on the property that wear collars to help limit noise. Rest assured, privacy is always respected here.

This cozy camper caters to outdoor enthusiasts while being conveniently close to amenities for those who enjoy exploring local shops and attractions.

Crista and family were wonderful and communicative hosts. They were very friendly and understanding as well. The camper was very comfortable, clean and perfect for my buddy and I and our fishing trip. Check in was easy, the instructions were clear and easy to understand. I'd highly recommend this and would gladly stay again if I'm the area!

Peaceful Getaway

First and foremost, the hosts were wonderful. We have a child with severe nut allergies. I messaged the host and she gave the camper a once over before we arrived to make sure there were no nuts present. They were very helpful and communicative every step of the way. The property itself is so nice. It's off the beaten path in the best way. Keosaqua is nearby. It has a couple of stores if you forgot anything. The camper itself is very nice. We had never stayed in a camper before, so I was a little daunted by "setting it up", but they left such clear instructions, it was no trouble. The camper was well stocked with everything you might need. We traveled with 4 kids. With 6 people, the camper was a little bit full but everyone was comfortable. It was the best of both worlds: rural and outdoorsy, but very comfortable inside. The kids had such a wonderful time and they can't wait to go back. Check out the two other properties that the host owns as well. This would be a great spot for a small family gathering if you had 2 or 3 families that needed separate spaces.There's more to do in the area than I would have expected. Lacey-Keosaqua state park is right there, tons of cute little shops and stores in the area, there's a golf course right down the road, and there is a lot to do on the property itself. We hope to come back soon.

So peaceful!

This property is a little piece of heaven. It is a short way down a gravel but that helped the peacefulness. It was wonderful to hear only birds, frogs and animals and not traffic, noisy neighbors etc. Communication with the hosts was very clear and helpful. The bed and pillows were comfortable and instructions on using the RV (we are new to that) were very clear. A minor repair was handled very quickly. Thanks for a great stay!!!

Very secluded down a long winding road that comes into a beautiful opening within steps of the river. The property is well taken care of, the amenities are endless! We loved the swings/chairs & communal fire pit. We look forward to coming back with more time so we can utilize all that was there to offer! Love for the 2nd time

Second time staying with you but, this time in the RV. We were in love with it as soon as we stepped into the RV. Had 2 Grandsons with us. We enjoyed the theater like livingroom on these HOT weekend. We even lost power but generater popped on within seconds. Thanks for the offer of fishing equiptment for the boys we were in bed bbefore sun was down.

Adventure girls mystery trip

Great area, clise to the river. Beautiful St.Park nearby with nice trails and lake. Was a little disappointed in small towns. Lots of businesses closed. But we don't have any trouble entertaining ourselves. Great place to get away to.

Perfection

The Hen House was spotless, modern, and fully outfitted with everything we needed and more. Gorgeous interior with beautiful kitchen and bath. We enjoyed fires, walks along the river and just sitting in the swing watching the river. Very private and secluded. Host was super friendly and there for anything we needed. Would definitely return if we have the opportunity. Their tiny house also looks adorable with a very nice deck area.

We have a corner lot that allows people to enjoy the privacy of the outdoors. A boat dock is a little ways down the road, near enough to walk to. We are a part of The Villages of VanBuren, so there is never a dull moment!
