Joe, this was certainly not intentional. Unfortunately, the shrubs in back had struggled after the frost and subsequent drought. They had to be cut down fairly low to the ground, but will be growing back. We did also install bamboo type fencing inside the lanai to give some additional privacy as well. Unfortunately this was one of those things we just could not control and happened right before your stay. We do appreciate your visit and review.

We truly appreciate guests who choose our property, but were very surprised to read this review and saddened that things fell short of expectations. That being said, you can’t please everyone. This criticism seemed unnecessarily harsh, and this person seemed to have a bone to pick for whatever reason. Not a word was mentioned of a single item during their stay. We strive to provide a comfortable, clean, and well-equipped vacation home (not a luxury hotel) at a very fair price. Our price for a whole home and pool probably compares to that of a single room in a mid to higher range hotel. We always welcome direct communication during a stay so we can address any concerns in real time and make sure every guest has as positive a experience possible. Again, no word was said to us during the stay . We have owned the home for under two years. We have already completed quite a few improvements / projects (including all new furniture, new roof and plumbing, converted the pool to saltwater and many other projects). Of course, there are always more things that we hope to get to at some point as we are able to (financially and timewise). And while we hate to rehash the guest’s list we did feel it necessary to address each item individually… -The floors do have some unevenness in a couple of corners of one of the rooms (but it is purely cosmetic, not even in walking areas). - The hot tub cover is getting pretty worn, but it is serviceable and holds the temperature. The hot tub works perfectly but it is an older model. If we can find a replacement cover that will fit we plan on doing so. -The couch on the patio is only about 2 years old, but it does get heavy use and is subject to the harsh elements (outside in the heat, sometimes gets wet, etc.). - We have recently patched up areas that may have allowed an occasional critter to come onto the patio, as well as now paying additional for ongoing mosquito treatments. Of course, in Florida these are challenges we all face, and we will continue to do everything in our power. - And finally, regarding the mature shrubs in back… We do feel bad about this but it was unfortunately out of our control. Due to an unusual frost (and then followed by a severe drought) the shrubs almost died. The only way to save them was to cut them low to the ground a couple of months ago. In the meantime, we had put up a small bamboo / reed style fencing inside the pool cage to give a bit of privacy. And we also put up a darker privacy type material just last week as well (so it is noticeably more private than it was in the guest’s photos). And in the coming months we believe the hedges will continue to grow as well. For anyone that is still reading please don’t hesitate to message us in advance if you have any questions or concerns at all. We are very responsive and will always strive to do what we can to make our guests as comfortable as possible. The vast majority of our guests have been very pleased with our property, but again, you can’t please everyone. Anyone that has owned a short term rental probably understands this is not an easy business. We will continue to strive to accommodate and improve.
