This was the worst vacation my family has ever experienced. We stayed for two weeks in B201, the same unit my parents and I stayed in every summer in the 1990s, and nothing has been updated since then. There was LOUD construction the entire time and the unit we were in was totally run down. We were told in late April (having made reservations in January) that there would be some construction, but given no details, but it was already too late to find a new place to stay at that point. Then in June, we were told that our oceanfront balcony would possibly be off limits. We were NOT told that the entire area around the building would be covered in garbage, nails, screws, and other construction debris, that the walkways would be unsafe and obstructed by equipment, nor that our ocean view would be blocked by scaffolding and workers singing and playing music loudly (in addition to the constant, loud construction noise), and working most days from 7:30am until the sun went down. So much for taking even a single peaceful afternoon nap on my 2 week vacation. This was supposed to be a present to my parents for their 49th wedding anniversary, but my mother who had knee surgery last year spent most of our trip inside instead of on the beach because it was totally unsafe for her to try and navigate the patchwork of rotting plywood, scaffolding, heavy construction equipment, and rotting boardwalk planks. This place is not remotely up to code or ADA compliant, so avoid the whole complex if you have any mobility issues. The unit we stayed in, B201, has not been updated since the 1980s. The couch was literally the most uncomfortable piece of furniture I've ever sat on, with springs poking you and barely enough room to sit. I was prepared from the pictures for some "retro" decor, but he giant hideous silk sunflowers in the bedroom looked like they had actual mold covering them. Our bathroom was unusable for 2 days while they repaired a leak, which was inadequately repaired, and then for another 2 days while they tried to fix it again. One of the dining chairs and one of the living room chairs were both broken. An end table was broken. The blinds were broken and falling apart. The kitchen was so poorly equipped we had to run the dishwasher twice daily and supplement with paper/plastic. The pots and pans were damaged, cheap, and few. There were multiple large roaches. The internet is ridiculously slow and appears to be shared between multiple units. After all of this, I got a text the day before our last day there that the construction crew would be painting the stairs from 8am-1pm the next day and we could not leave our unit during that time. They could have easily done one of the staircases at a time, but expected us to just not come or go for a whole day. Jolene, one of the management company employees was very nice and helpful, which is literally the only thing that redeemed the experience. So if you're reading this, Jolene, thank you for your service.
