Cabin on 66 acres of forest

A relative gave me a signed Mikhail Baryshnikov print from 1981 which I think looks great over the fireplace, I have no plans to add a TV.

The posts on the front porch are made of chestnut oak harvested from the hillside on the property and milled locally. That type of oak is not available commercially because it only grows in rocky soil like that found around the cabin. After milling the oak posts, I sanded them and put on over 4 coats of tung oil. The windows are all new replaced in 2024, the charred exterior siding was a lot of work and at least 2x more costly than vinyl siding. I try to plant flowers in front and the deer are usually quick to remove them so I recently added the black bear wood carving by skilled local artist.

Clearly the guests plans changed due to reasons totally outside their control and unrelated to the cabin. After a week of no issues suddenly they had a host of problems such as complaining the refrigerator was suddenly too small although it has served a larger group for a longer period without issues. I ordered a larger refrigerator and other items but the guest had already decided to leave because they were clearly needed back home, luckily I was able to cancel the new refrigerator order in time.
