Disappointed Kamaaina

My family wanted a relaxing weekend getaway from our very busy lives so we requested a last minute booking. A bill was sent to me in advance and paid in full the following day to cover a 3 night stay plus a cleaning fee. We assumed there would be a way to check in with a mgt. office and did not initially mind that the owner did not respond to e-mails/phone calls to clarify. We arrived early evening and grabbed a rental car and a few groceries before heading over to the complex. The office has VERY limited hours and no one was available for us to check in. We checked out the unit which was unlocked only to discover that the place was extremely dirty, the electricity was off, there was a musty smell and an inordinate amount of cockroaches and mosquitos inside and out. The timeshare manager was kind enough to take a look with us and suggested we make do since we could not reach the owner/property mgr. There were no more flights back home and the owner would not respond. We cleaned as best we could despite only having dish detergent and a meager amount of bleach and stayed for the night. The owner finally called the next day and was apologetic. She said she overlooked my payment and the e-mails and that she provided me with the wrong contact number. She was nice, but did not offer to comp any costs or fees until I asked that she at least refund the cleaning fee which she did right away. Our weekend was not entirely ruined, but the incident really got our first visit to Molokai off on the wrong foot and I didn't enjoy playing housekeeper instead of relaxing. Also, although we are used to pests living in Hawaii, the number of cockroaches and mosquitos inside the property was extraordinary. The fridge/freezer was pretty noisy and there were numerous burned out light bulbs out and good lighting in the living area. Overall, the unit was okay and was stocked okay but needed cleaning supplies. The grounds were very quite. The upstairs neighbor fed the birds which made a daily seed mess on the lanai table and attracted turkeys and their poo. The key did not work to access the outside closet, so we were unable to use the toys we were told were stored in there. Visitors will need to provide such things as paper towels, sandwich bags, shopping bags, plastic wrap/foil, food seasonings (there were a few) and all personal hygiene products (other than hair care). No cooler available. The people on Molokai were very warm and friendly!! Very unlike VRBO experience in the past.

Wonderful Quiet Getaway

I would definitely stay again. The property was very clean and ready for us on arrival. When we travel, we like to cook some of our own meals, rather than eat out all the time. This property worked wonderfully for that--the kitchen included plenty of pots and pans, tools for prepping, and cooking utensils. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were nicely appointed. A very easy, peaceful experience all the way around.

Beautiful Mini Vacay!!!!

Aloha, I am a co-worker at Ke Nani Kai I've finally had the privilege of staying at this beautiful unit. My expectations were really high because by the looks of the pictures it looks nice but seeing it for my own eye's it succeeded my expectations I was really happy and my family had a blast. I highly recommend everyone to stay at this unit for so many reasons. It was home away from home so relaxed and comfy, on the other hand their were some complaints about us witch I work in the office and can't talk much but I will say that we have rights to be at Ke Nani Kai if we are renting! We should get what we pay for.... I Love my job and I love people no matter how you look or what color you are or size you are I open my arms and office doors to everyone meaning I welcome you and allow you to use your privileges. The cost of this unit is pricey but my family and I got what we paid for we really enjoyed our self's I will tell everyone about this unit and recommend to all and my family and I will return again soon even though I work their and live on island I just absolutely love this unit and where I work! Thank you so much the Millikan's Family of unit 156!!! I am very happy with my stay my family and I can't wait to return...

Excellent vacay rental

The unit was perfect for our mini family vacay. It was just right for my husband and I, our 3year old son and a family friend. The condo had just about anything you could think of... Kitchen had a fridge, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, rice cooker (very important for local families), blender, etc. It even came with dinnerware, glasses, and TUPPERWARE!! Totally everything you would need. Also, having a front loader washer/dryer in the unit was totally awesome! The owner also provided bath and beach towels which was another plus for us.

We had a minor mix up with our check-in time and the unit being fully prepared for us, however, the owner,Debbie, totally took care of us. She even refunded me the cleaning fee since the condo was not totally clean upon our arrival.

We really enjoyed our time on Moloka'i and I would definitely recommend this unit to others. I would love to stay here again on our next trip.

Overall experience was great. Unit was well stocked with many useful items. Just a few amenities need to be considered or improved upon. Master bathroom fan had a very loud screeching sound. Went away after leaving it on for a period of time. Was informed that there was no A/C in the unit and only ceiling fans in the bedrooms. The living room got really warm since there was no cross breeze. Was very disappointed that there was no microwave. Simple fix meals needed to be heated in the oven. Not convenient. Would still consider renting this unit again.

Great place to stay on the west end of Molokai

We just got back from a wonderful stay on Molokai, filled with hiking and fishing, and the condo was the perfect compliment to our visit. Bedrooms were generous beds were just the right firmness and plenty of room to unpack and spread out. Bathrooms were modern and attractive and the overhead shower heads were a pleasure to use and a luxury item indeed. In fact the whole unit was very modern and attractive with a welcoming and comfortable feel.

The frontloader washer/dryer were new and cleaned our clothes well and fluffed them perfecting in the dryer. There were some basic cooking spices and seasonings as well a stocked kitchen. We could have used a larger pot to cook rice in, there is a rice cooker btw. We also could have used a toaster, the owner let me know that one is on the way. A microwave would have come in handy too. Basic soaps for dishwashing, dishwasher and laundry were supplied under the kitchen sink.

My only dings on the unit were: we didn't have any soap for the bathroom sink and shower or paper towels for the kitchen or any extra toilet paper. I did find a dispenser with liquid in it but it wasn't clear to me if it was soap, lotion or shampoo, so I wasn't confident enough to use them on my hair or body. It would have been nice to have those basic bathroom supplies.
