Amazing Beach House!

We rented this house for a long summer vacation and it did not dissapoint! The house was comfortable and the property manager was quick to respond with repair requests whenever we needed help. The beach was gorgeous and the water was clean. The mosquitos were aweful, though, so make sure you take your insect repellent! LOL. I highly recommend this listing.

Misleading pictures and discription

The location was great! The view awesome. The porch, even though the furniture was different than the picture, was perfect for sunsets. There are only two full baths and a half bath. The master bath was redone but the other two very dated with low counters but handicap accessible. Mattresses were very average. WiFi a challenge. There were only certain spots outside that you could use your cell phone. We had issues with the A/C. Furnishings below average.Overall the house is tired and needs some updating especially for what we paid.

Bug infestation and new construction of a 3 story house feet away from bedrooms

Beware of dealing with the property manager, Peter, who also appears to be the owner. He promised us a refund of one night and cleaning fee because we were infested with love bugs and other insects everywhere in the house due to poor construction as there were so many cracks and openings in fixed windows, skylights and doors. We had the insects in all the bathrooms, in our bed sheets, all over the drapes, in our drink glasses and flying around us at the dining room table. We discovered multiple close to empty cans of bug spray in the kitchen closet so we assume this was not the first time it has happened. It was also never disclosed to us that a new 3 story house was under construction right next door but we were made aware of it when we were awoken on Monday morning by the workers and their loud music. That lasted the entire work week. Peter sent us a check but after we deposited it, we found out there had been a stop payment put on it and we were charged a fee from our bank for that. I asked Peter to be reimbursed for that also. After hours on the phone with many Home Away representatives, some even being hung up on by Peter when they phoned him as was I which was why I took it up with Home Away, he refused to make good and send us the money he owes us. We were there as a family to celebrate my mom's 99th birthday. It is so disappointing that this was the outcome of our trip. The opposite side of the house sits next to a public beach access. You have cars parking there and people walking by and setting up their beach space which was usually right in the middle of the view and beach of this house. Wanted to warn any future renters.

This is a classic case of someone creating a problem and blaming someone else for the outcome. There are no cracks and openings in windows. That's preposterous. However, leaving patio sliders open will allow lovebugs to get into the house. There were clear instructions and signs not to turn on the exterior lights at night. The exterior lightbulbs were even removed. The guest took it upon herself to ignore these instructions, re-install the exterior lights and turn them on at night (confirmed by neighbors). Well, guess what, that attracted love bugs and when opening and closing doors, or leaving sliders open, the love bugs get in. By the way, love bugs are completely harmless and occur for two to three weeks in the spring. When I explained this to the guest, she told me she's from California and that she knows everything about lovebugs and lights don't attract bugs at night. Really? She continued to complain and I wanted to placate her so I offered to pay her cleaning fee and give her a free night. That was a big mistake. When she told me it wasn't enough and that she wanted more, I refused. She then threatened to smear me online unless I gave her more money. I told her that that was extorsion, which is a felony, and that I would not pay her anything and I stopped payment on the extorsion check. I do everything humanly possible to accommodate our guests, but I won't be blackmailed. Beware of this extortionist.

Great beach rental!!

We had a lovely stay. Pictures are accurate and the house was very clean. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed, and plenty of towels and linens. Owner was very response to a maintenance issue that occurred. He handled the problem right away and followed up to make sure everything was good. The beach and location was fantastic!! Highly recommend.

Spectacular property

This is a perfect house, sitting right on the beach. The screened porch looking out on the Gulf is delightful, as is the outdoor dining area. It is very nicely appointed, with very clean lines and tasteful furniture. The beach is, of course, gorgeous, and very unpopulated at his neck of the woods. I could not have been happier, and will certainly be back!!

Long Boat key beach vacation

Positive: Fantastic location, great access to the beach, spacious house, well equipped kitchen, owner/manager very responsive. Negative: old house, dated bathrooms and kitchen, old furniture, mattresses old and uncomfortable. Overall we would stay there again. Property not ideal for people looking for a newer luxury property.

Terrific stay at a beautiful place

This was our first visit to Longboat Key and the beauty blew us away. The location of the house is perfect. It’s quiet and such a short distance to the beach. The house was very comfortable for our family of 4 + grandparent. Everything was so clean and comfortable. We can’t wait to go back.

Best & safest place to stay during pandemic

The house was beautiful and spacious. I am pregnant, with two small kids & parents are seniors so we were terrified to travel at all w the pandemic. This house was clean & the beach was completely private. We were the only ones on the beach during 4th of July. Saw beautiful fireworks from a distance. We felt very safe. The outside shower was awesome! He supplies everything you need for a comfortable stay. The view from the porch was perfect for my disabled father to sit and enjoy while we went in the water w the kids. The beach is crystal clear water. We saw dolphins! The location is perfect! The house beautiful! I wouldn’t change a thing. The owner was very responsive. If you are thinking about if this is the place to stay book it. Totally worth it. Specially during these times there is no price for safety, privacy & convenience. Only regret is not booking for more time. Time flies when your having a great time. Will be back again. :)

Overall, good experience

We had 7 adults and two children. I had a little problem with getting the check-in instructions but that was a technical glitch with email so not really anyone’s fault. When we were on our way, I started trying to contact someone to get this information. This was difficult as I didn’t see any contact phone number on the property page in the VRBO app. However, once contacted, the property manager was very responsive so we were able to enter the property with no problems. Pro’s 1. The house is large. 2. The location is wonderful!! I have never been so close to the beach. 3. Nice Publix very close— you could walk there if you had to. 4. Tastefully decorated. 5. So many supplies and extras were provided. Beach towels, beach toys, plenty of towels, extra linens, good supply of dishes, pots/pans, flatware/ drinking glasses, etc. 6. Large den area with great view of beach. 7. Screened in porch was great. 8. The description lists two outdoor showers. You should be aware that only one is enclosed and it is very private an nice. The other one is simply a shower head and spigot on the front of the porch. 9. Some remodeling work has been done. The master bathroom is especially nice. May be a pro or con but the master bathroom has a door leading into another bedroom next to the master so it’s kind of a jack and Jill. 10. All bedrooms could walk out onto a deck. 11. Lots of space (dressers, closets, etc.) to put away your personal items. Cons 1. Kitchen is well equipped but small. 2. The AC has a “governor” which prevents you from setting it below 72. It was a very hot week and the temperature in the house was at times, just plain out hot. It should at least go down to 68. 3. The bunk bed room is not very comfortable. Not even a ceiling fan and no t.v. These beds were not comfortable. Overall, we had a good stay and depending on the number of adults with us, we would consider this property again.

Perfect beach house!

We loved our time here! We were scheduled for the week Covid-19 started to ramp up nationwide. Because we were able to drive, we decided to self isolate here. The owner immediately reached out to us to assure us the house had been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. It was spotless. No need to use any of the cleaning supplies we brought with us. The entire house was perfectly stocked - sheets, towels, beach towels, kitchenware, etc. The property is beautiful- right on the beach. Beautiful beach days. Stunning sunsets each night from the beach and the deck. One of the best rental experiences we’ve had as a family.

FANTASTIC PROPERTY. Outdoor shower is a real bonus. Great kitchen. Spacious family home. Did not like that you have to walk through a bedroom to use the full bath. Bunk beds too small for adults. Otherwise, Perfect.

Beach Vacation to Rememeber

The Check-in process worked flawlessly with no effort. The house was very clean when we arrived. The property sits right on the beach with only houses nearby so we felt we had a very private beach. The house came with everything we needed - pans, linens, dishes, bowls, sand toys, beach towels, and a few umbrellas that were useful. This was very useful since most of us flew into Tampa to stay at the house. We used the charcoal grill twice during the week. It was easy to start since they had a charcoal chimney and starter fluid. We did buy the charcoal. The house is pretty spread out with the bedrooms all having an outside door and patio area. 4 bedrooms and 2 and 1/2 bathrooms were plenty for the 7 of us. We never ran out of hot water. The washer and dryer worked perfectly and with 7 people we used them quite a bit. There is a Publix nearby, and a Walmart about 30 minutes away. We used them both. My wife likes Starbucks coffee every morning so I used the mobile app and ordered it at the St Armand’s Starbucks, 6 minute drive, parked the car and picked up my mobile order. I would recommend this vacation home.

My family had a wonderful stay at this beach house. It was very clean, roomy, and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything you will need. A wonderful screened in porch, nice outside deck, and the house is steps to the beach. Outdoor showers were a plus. Publix grocery store is minutes away and very convenient. We plan to have a repeat stay at this house.

Great Beach Front House

Very spacious and comfortable house right on the beach. The kitchen is modern and well equipped. We spent many evenings looking at the views of the gulf from the screened in porch. Very relaxing.
