Most relaxing vacation ever - truly paradise!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our vacation here at Paradise Found in Pelican Point. The home was beautiful and the views are breathtaking. Even though there were none of the typical activities of our normal beach vacations, we all had an amazing time! (Yes, the kids loved it too). The locals were so friendly and helpful....they made our trip that much more special. Danny from Pelican’s restaurant and Bill (fishing guide) went over and above to help us enjoy our catches. The restaurant is a quick walk down the beach & offers great food and drink at reasonable prices. We drove down to the boat ramp where there is a beautiful beach where we saw stingrays, lots of fish and caught conch. Just a couple of minutes down the road and worth the drive.
My advice for future travelers is:
1. be sure to bring enough groceries from Freeport. We ended up needing to pick up a few items towards the end of the week. Although there are a couple of “convenience stores” (the best is in McCleans town), they don’t have much.
2. Bring water shoes. The beach is rocky. Once you get over the first set of rocks it’s nice soft sand, then another set of rocks, followed by more sand.
3. There is a nice liquor store in the direction of Freeport shortly before you get to Smitty’s in a small strip mall. The prices were better than we found in Freeport and the locals were super nice.
4. Bring bug spray...no joke. We brought plenty and were fine as long as we sprayed down before heading outside.
Chris was super helpful and quick to respond to our calls/texts, and we can’t thank him enough for all the help and for sharing his beautiful home! We are already planning our next trip back to Pelican Point!
Relaxing Week
Enjoyed our trip to Pelican Point very much. Everything is as described. People of Pelican Point and the surrounding areas have huge hearts. Strongly suggest going to EJs and have the lobster. The best I’ve ever had. Have Joe take you on the all day excursion, also the best we’ve ever done. Made our trip. Thank you for sharing this special place. Having the bar restaurant within walking distance was a huge plus also.
It’s a little slice of heaven!!
Most amazing beach vacay ever!!! It’s like you are on your own private beach!! It’s just awesome and we will be going back!!! See you next year paradise!!
Perfectly Paradise
5 adults and 2 small children stayed here this last week and had the most incredible time! We would definitely recommend this place to anyone and hope to some day be back!
Here are some tips I would pass along to fellow travelers.
Kitchen- well stocked. No need to bring spices / vinegar / sugar. They had plenty of ice trays to make your own ice. Definitely bring lots of drinking water- we would go through 8 gallons in 2 1/2 days.
The house was great - loved the palm trees for shade. Beds were nice. Bring lots of bug spray and sunscreen. Also- 2 of the adults started garlic tablets 5 days ahead of the trip to help with bug bites and they barely got bit but the rest of us were bit up!
The bar down the way was great - not open everyday and may want to head down early if you want to go to dinner to let them know you are coming. I think it makes it easier and faster for the local restaurants to know if you plan to come. So maybe call ahead.
Went into Freeport on Wednesday for golf at Reef resort which was good, also shopping at Port Lucaya, and then to Smith Pointe at Outriggers for the weekly Wednesday night fish fry which I highly recommend.
Bill the fishing/ snorkeling guide was great - would call the day you get there to set it up. He helped us get conch to make conch salad and showed us how to get coconuts down.
Charlie is a local taxi driver and makes about 3 trips to and from Freeport ask Ali for his number if you need it. We rented a car though from Hertz.
We brought sand toys and a large raft for the ocean which was fun! Would recommend bring goggles or snorkel mask and water shoes. Also recommend bringing your own beach side Yeti cups for mixed drinks. They have some plastic cups but also had mostly glassware.
Groceries are expensive - liquor was the same price but beer is very expensive (range from $45-90 a case).
Thank you to everyone in the small town of Pelican Pointe who made our trip wonderful!
Good time
Property is excellent
Fantastic Week At Paradise Found! 2/23-3/2/19
Just returned from our stay and it was tough waking up and not seeing the ocean out the bedroom windows! The house is great. All the people in the Pelican Point community were friendly and helpful - don't hesitate to ask Ali, Charlie and Bill for help, they will do everything possible to make your stay more enjoyable. We recommend calling Ali ahead of shopping to find out if you need to pick-up bath, dish soaps and condiments along with groceries you need to bring. Definitely recommend taking a snorkeling, lobstering trip with Bill and dinner and drinks at Paradise By the Sea just up(east) the beach. My buddie and I took the boat out several days and fished and the restaurant and Bill cooked up our catch - incredible! If you have extra fish the locals will gladly accept them and are available to cook a meal if asked. If you're in Freeport stop at Bell Channel Inn for a meal - always good. Can't wait to return to Pelican Point!
