Still Waters - Lakefront Berkshires Retreat with Fall Foliage Views
There's no better front-row seat for a Berkshires fall than Still Waters. Our waterfront retreat sits right on the lake in Becket, Massachusetts, where the surrounding mountains put on their best show every October — and you'll take it all in from three walls of sliding glass doors that flood the home with light and frame the changing leaves like a living painting.
Curl up with coffee on the large deck as the morning mist lifts off the water, or gather the whole family inside for a low-key evening while the sunset turns the mountain across the lake into shades of orange and red. This is the kind of house that makes "just staying in" feel like the whole point of the trip.
The open-concept kitchen, dining, and living area keeps everyone together, whether you're cooking a big fall dinner, playing games at the table, or just watching the lake from the couch. One of the three bedrooms includes a built-in desk/office nook — perfect if you're stretching a fall weekend into a few remote workdays surrounded by foliage instead of your usual four walls.
Becket sits right in the heart of the Berkshires, putting you within a short drive of the region's best fall activities: scenic foliage drives, working farms, historic villages, and the cultural institutions the Berkshires are known for.
A few things to know before you book:
• The road to the house is dirt/gravel — fine in dry fall weather, but worth noting if rain is in the forecast.
• The washer & dryer are located in the basement, accessed from outside the home (not through an interior staircase).
• Kayaks, a stand-up paddleboard, and a paddleboat are available for guests who want one more sunny fall afternoon on the water before the season turns — boats without a lake association permit are not permitted on the lake.
• Outdoor games and fishing poles are also available for guests to use.
