The Space:

This incredibly romantic rock, straw bale and adobe carriage house is truly a unique space. The original carriage house to our 1884 historic adobe manor has stunning views of the Ortiz and Cerrillos Mountains and the village of Cerrillos and yet walkable to it. Hand-troweled Venetian plaster compliments locally quarried handsome stonework and eclectic up-cycled furniture with incredible art. Queen bed with high thread count cotton sheets and bedding, and low voltage top of the line, heated mattress pad makes for a luxurious stay in chilly weather. Chandelier opulence, velvet couch, and antique wood stove are perfect for relaxing or working. There is a hot tub on the property open all year, 24 hours seven days. Please note* We are not responsible for the hot tub not working due to cleaning or appliance issues during your stay, no discounts will be given. This unit has a private shaded patio with a daybed and water fountain feature, large walk-in rock shower, a charming well stocked eat-in kitchenette and work space, and has a lovely view of the gardens. The kitchen includes pots, pans, dishes, mini fridge, two burner stove top, convection/toaster oven large enough for a chicken, kitchen utensils, olive oil, salt, pepper, hot sauce, and your choice of multiple coffee pots. We supply organic coffee, tea and spices. We offer a Host Bar w/ local products and events including artist studio tours and morning yoga or workouts, the menu and pricing is in the unit. The grounds to the main house also offers an additional day bed, hammock, lounge chairs, eating areas and many private gardens with tables & chairs that look onto our sweet orchard and views of the Cerrillos Hills State Park that adjoins the property. Our hot tub has perfect views of the Milky Way and is located in a private area on the property, although other guests share the hot tub, no one would get in with you. There is a fire ring (under host supervision, and only in the winter), plenty of outdoor lighting at night to coax you outside to the multiple patios to listen to the coyotes and owls and enjoy a serene getaway from city life. We are walkable to a Black Bird Saloon restaurant and shopping, horseback riding, hiking, biking, and only 4 miles from Madrid with more shopping and eating. Enjoy Free WiFi, you won't have cell service here, but you can make calls and receive texts with wifi calling and stream once you're logged in. 1 Hour to ABQ airport. 20 minutes to Santa Fe Airport. 1 hour to Ski Santa Fe lift. 35 minutes to Santa Fe Plaza. Ideal for hiking, horseback riding or biking the Cerrillos Hills State Park with over 3000 acres of trails and mining history or walk the Galisteo River. As artists, our home reflects the love, and respect we share for this historic and magical place that we have lived for 30 years. The property has been designed to inspire guests to relax, create, and be curious. We are proud to support sustainable lodgings by using biodegradable cleaners and shampoo as our gray lines feed the birds and gardens. We use recycled paper products, avoid one-time use plastic and paper products, we compost all food waste to our chickens that you leave behind in the compost bin, and then fertilize our gardens and subscribe to wind energy. We do not implement ANY pesticides, so if you are intimidated by a cricket this may not be right for you. This adobe, rock building does not have AC, but the adobe walls are 18 inches thick and stay cool by opening the windows at 9 pm and closing them at 9 am in the summer, it will maintain a lovely temp on its own. Guest Access:

After parking in space (2) the middle space. Follow the rock skirting of the casita to your entrance in the back. You will see a lovely private patio with a daybed and a water fountain as you walk up to the door. Our property is designed for guests to enjoy, please make yourself at home. There is also a BBQ, guests can use. The hot tub is located in a private area with spectacular night sky views, although it is shared, no one will enter while you are enjoying. All the outdoor gardens are at your disposal for reading, games...



The Neighborhood:

While most travelers find Santa Fe enchanting, commercialism is obvious. Cerrillos and Madrid 13 miles SE of Santa Fe, continue to offer a real New Mexico experience, artists living and working in their studios, cowboys riding and hitching up outside of restaurants, unique pioneer characters.

Step back in time to this historic territorial village of Los Cerrillos where Young Guns, Vampires and Dark Winds were and continue to be filmed. This quiet and friendly neighborhood is walkable and has a restaurant (The Black Bird Saloon) open Thurs - Sunday (check hours online) and shopping at The Cerrillos Station Thurs - Sun, and a mining museum that are all walking distance to the carriage house for fabulous gifts and sunset charcuterie supplies, farmers market or local music. The views are spectacular here find your sunset or sunrise and enjoy the sounds of birds, owls and coyotes. Hike, bike or horseback ride (Turquoise Trail Horse Back Riding) in the 3000 acre Cerrillos Hills State Park behind our home or just enjoy a walk down the Galisteo River. Our home looks onto the village and stunning views. Or if you're looking for nightlife Madrid is just 4 miles South with live music at The Mine Shaft Tavern or Refinery 14 and patio dining 7 nights a week as well as seasonal parades and special events. Beer Creek Brewery is 8 miles North with a lovely patio for pizza, and Santa Fe Brewery is located 12 miles north with dining and incredible music throughout the year (check their calendar).

Every Thursday there is a farmers market in Cerrillos at the Cerrillos Station with local goodies and live music from 4-6 or whenever the music stops. Santa Fe is 14 miles, 35 minutes to The Plaza and 1 hour to the Santa Fe Mountain ski lift. 1 hour to Albuquerque airport.



Getting Around:

We are located 20 minutes to Santa Fe. ABQ airport. 15 minutes from Santa Fe airport. 1 hour to Santa Fe Ski lift. You will need a car but can walk to the village for dining and shopping once you are here. Bikes would be fun too!

Hike or bike The Cerrillos Hills State Park directly behind our property. Or horseback ride at Turquoise Trail Horse Back Riding,( walking distance from the house.)



Other Things to Note:

Our historic adobe manor is located on a large property that backs up to 3000 acres of The Cerrillos Hills State Park. The carriage house has 2 units, both are rock, adobe and strawbale with hospitality walls dividing one shared wall in addition to the original rock and adobe walls to prevent any noise or vibration and to ensure privacy and peacefulness. Sustainability is important to us, we subscribe to wind generated power, use environmentally safe cleaners, purchase 100 % recycled paper goods and compost food scraps to our chickens. We ask that no paper, including toilet paper is placed in the 1/2 gallon flush toilet to avoid issues. All guests are required to wash their dishes and tidy up before check out, we do not charge a cleaning fee to keep our space affordable, so, to avoid an additional cleaning fee of $50 please leave the space in the condition you found it. Place used towels on hooks, leave the bed and everything else. There are no firearms allowed on the property or in any of our units. If you are traveling with firearms, they must be locked in your car or truck. We strive to create a restful retreat for our guests full of love and creativity, enjoy!



Interaction with Guests:

Our trio now consists of my husband, myself and Mr. Darcy (our terrier) as our daughter lives in Boston. We live on the property in the main house and are available for our guest's needs until 8 pm usually. We will also leave you alone, if you are looking to retreat, no worries. Please feel free to knock or text, we are usually watching the sun go down with a glass of something.
