Crystal Pines- 2BD House, 10 Minutes From Duke and Downtown Durham

Perfect for traveling nurses, medical staff, or families on vacation or relocation. Our places are designed for short- to mid-term rental. Located in a great community in North Durham, our peaceful home is fully stocked with amenities and is designed for a family, individuals or roommates. We accept pets! So come and stay with us and enjoy the best Durham has to offer!

You will first enter the family room which was inspired by our love for nature. We have added one of the most comfortable couches and a sofa we have ever tested. We promise that you will not want to get up once you sit down! the room is also equipped with areas for drinks or food that are accessible from each point of the furniture for your convenience, as well as a 55-inch smart TV that you can connect to any of your favorite streaming apps!

As in all of our properties, we have a Nest smart thermostat, to make the temperature control easy. We will provide instructions on how to use it with the house instructions.

If you walk to the back of the floor you will get to the kitchen, which is fully equipped with all you need to make a delicious meal or dine in from some of the best restaurants Durham has to offer (recommendations will be provided!). We have a really nice Nespresso machine, a toaster oven, microwave and more. Next to the kitchen, you will find a spacious dining area, with a table and six chairs, as well as another smart TV to enjoy while you are eating. Across from it, you will find the washer/dryer area.

If go through the back door, you will reach the zen area (AKA, the backyard). That is a great place to relax on the swinging chairs and listen to the birds.

Upstairs, you will find a spacious master bedroom, with a cozy queen bed, that has some cool lights and storage underneath. We have added room-blackening curtains to ease your sleep. Right across from it, you will see the second bedroom. It has a trundle bed with a full/twin beds, as well as storage. We also added a working space with a dedicated desk and chair.

We have a pack-and-play and high chair, as well as an option to install a baby gate if needed. Just let us know.

Not what we expected

We have used several Vrbo rentals in the past with a high level of satisfaction.Our experience with this stay did not meet the high standard we are used to. The management of the unit was sloppy and unorganized.The following is a list of our experiences: Unable to open back door, 1st day blew out circuit near microwave and refrigerator as microwave was prep-plugged in the circuit prior to arrival with the knowledge of owner this would happen (not notifying us ahead of time). Unable to access circuit breaker.Locked out of apartment 2x once due to locking mechanism inconsistently functional on storm door, other was when access code not updated after paying for additional one week extending stay.Nonfunctional air conditioning unable to adequately control range of temperature in home with Nest system as well as contacting owner to control causing home to be in the low 80s. Unable to access apartment during last full day of stay. Owner did send repairman to fix door issues and willing to send HVAC person for air conditioning issues yet these inconveniences should have been addressed prior to the availability of the unit.

Elizabeth, I will start by quoting your words on our place from chat: ‘We are enjoying the townehouse and the area. Thank you for your flexibility!’ And- ‘Love the place!!!!!’ I will also note that you originally booked for 2 weeks but asked to extend your stay. Typically, a guest would not request to stay longer if you didn’t like the place, so I do not appreciate the hypocritical words in your review. -Regarding the HVAC temperature - you received the house instructions, including a link to a video that shows how to operate the Nest, which is very basic. Unfortunately, you decided to ignore it and blame the host, even though you could have easily done so on your end. Yet, I was happy to help you each time you needed us. At the end of your stay, there was an issue with the HVAC, which, of course, I could not anticipated, so telling me that this should have been fixed before you entered is a bit ridiculous. Also, I offered you twice to come and fix it, and you refused. My HVAC guy was very curious why you wanted to wait and not get that fixed. I guess you did it to spice up your review. -Not able to open the door- that never happened, you just made that up. -Breaker issues and storm door- I was alerted by my repair people that all if these issues were cause due to human error. That never happened before you entered the property. I will summarize that any issue you had was addressed immediately and fixed within minutes to an hour or so. Will not recommend you as a guest
