I’m glad to hear you thought the condo itself was great, but I’m very sorry for the arrival confusion and the issues that affected comfort and the lake view. You’re absolutely right that the address/GPS directions need to bring guests to the correct entrance every time, especially when arriving after dark. We’re updating the listing and pre-arrival directions to include the exact building location, clearer landmarks, and step-by-step arrival instructions so guests aren’t routed to a nearby private residence. I’m also sorry about the glue/epoxy odor and the protective film left on the windows. While new windows are a positive upgrade, the unit should not be left with lingering construction smells or film that obstructs the view—particularly when the lake view is a major part of the experience. We’ve flagged this for immediate follow-up so the film is removed and the unit is properly aired out and checked before the next arrival. Thank you again for the honest and detailed notes. We apologize for the ant issue in the villa and the missing set of bed sheets. While we’re glad our property manager was able to respond and provide ant treatment the following day, we understand that having to deal with this during your vacation is not ideal. Cleanliness, comfort, and preparedness are top priorities, and we’ll be reviewing our pre-arrival inspection process to ensure these types of oversights are addressed moving forward. Regarding the outdoor patio and presence of geese droppings, we completely understand your concern—especially with children wanting to enjoy the outdoor space. While we do our best to keep outdoor areas maintained, nature sometimes has other plans, especially in resort environments like Boyne. That said, we’ll be working closely with our maintenance team to increase attention to these high-traffic outdoor areas to ensure they are more guest-ready, especially during peak seasons. We also want to clarify the resort access point. You’re correct—when renting through a private property management company like Northern Michigan Escapes, access to Boyne Mountain Resort’s pool and certain amenities is not automatically included. We understand this can be a disappointment, especially for families with kids excited to swim. This is something we’ll make more clear in our pre-arrival communications so expectations are properly set. We truly appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention and giving us the opportunity to improve. Your feedback helps us enhance both the quality of our accommodations and the transparency of the guest experience. We understand that in an area with limited cell service, reliable internet access becomes especially important, and we regret the inconvenience this caused. Unfortunately, internet outages and regional cell coverage are outside of our control, but we do work to resolve these issues as quickly as possible when they arise. We also want to address your concerns about the primary bathroom shower and the presence of bugs. The home is professionally managed with regular insect control services, and we will be having our housekeeping and pest management teams inspect the property thoroughly to ensure any issues are promptly addressed. Insects can sometimes be more prevalent in certain seasons and rural settings, but they should never interfere with your comfort, and we’ll take additional steps to prevent a recurrence. Your comments about the mold in the shower and window casing will be shared with our maintenance and cleaning crews for immediate attention.
