K & M, your time is valuable and we appreciate you writing a review for Seaside Serenity. Concerning the beach house and it’s location within Carillon Beach, I could not have said it better myself. Carillon Beach is a gated, family community so we don't get all the crowds and traffic that you typically experience with other beach properties, allowing you to escape and relax. The new owners are a delight to work with and have done a great job with new decor and kitchen. Thank you for choosing Seaside Serenity and check the calendar for your next visit. Thank you for your critique. Normally, we would do a Deep Clean after the heavy Summer rental usage and before the Holidays. Seaside Serenity was scheduled for renovation in late Fall. This year was and remains anything but “normal”. Unfortunately you came into the house on the heels of Hurricane Michael, which hit during Fall Break just after our very busy Summer Season. One hour before landfall the 4+ CAT storm tilted 15 miles East of Carillon Beach miraculously resulting in no major damage. Sadly, many friends and neighbors in Panama City and surrounding communities suffered profound devastation, including the destruction of Tyndall Air Force Base, the largest base in our country. I am proud to say, many Owners in Carillon Beach stepped up to help, donating funds, serving meals, and offering their homes to displaced victims of the storm, first responders, and workers. The Owners of Seaside Serenity offered their home to a construction crew. The house was soon occupied by a team of 11 men and women for 27 days until your arrival. In order to honor your reservation, the construction team was asked to leave and then returned after your stay for another 25 days before the Owners arrived last week. As previously planned, the rug has been removed from the lower level and arrangements are being finalized to renovate this area. The bunk bed has been tightened up, dining chairs replaced, new area rugs purchased with complete interior painting to be scheduled this month. As for the electric grill, the Owner is an officer for the fire department in his community and thought an electric grill next to the kitchen located on the upper level would be more safe and convenient than a gas or propane grill outside on the ground level. Yes, Seaside Serenity is a hidden jewel, situated as close to the beach and beach walkover as you can get without actually renting (and paying for) direct gulf front access and . . . with a gulf view to boot. It is extremely rare that we get a negative review of homes under our management. As attested by the average reviews of this home (4.9 before this review), something is not quite right with this most recent review. Our job, as property manager, is not only to assure, as best we can, a premium vacation experience for our guests, but also to preserve and protect the property entrusted to us by the owner. This renter abused the home and then lied about it. We allowed this guest to enter the home, 2 1/2 hours before check-in, at no additional fee (usually we charge an early check in fee). During her stay we received no notifications of any dissatisfaction with her rental experience. (As we live full time in Carillon, we always try to any address issues promptly). This guest opened an owner's closet and removed and used owner's towels, failed to removed trash from the home, left garbage and trash on the top bunk, used toilets left un-flushed, stained upholstered furniture with red gummies, left both entrance doors wide open, and failed to place the beach towels in and start washer before departure (essential for the cleaners to timely prepare the home for the next guest). Our rental agreement and "house rules" clearly state expectations of the guests’ departure and to respect the home they are renting. They were not followed. As a result, additional cleaners had to be called in at an additional expense of $75, as stipulated in the rental agreement. This renter disrespected the home and rental process and will not be renting from us again and, hopefully, from no other rental agent managing homes in Carillon Beach.
