Fabulous relaxing stay

This was a much needed get away. The condo was absolutely beautiful and comfortable. It had everything we needed. Loves the towels service from the resort with the bands….was so easy! Communication with the owners was great! We will definitely be back!

Beach vacation

Very nice/clean property and good communication with the host. This would work well for extended stays due to the full kitchen, washer and dryer. The bed mattress was not the most comfortable and while we appreciated the beach chairs being provided, there was no umbrella. Overall, would recommend :)

Had an amazing time staying at this wonderful Vrbo. The condo was perfectly clean and exactly as described. The location could not be better! The resort beach is beautiful and there are many other beaches all within a 10 minute drive. The host was communicative and responded to all of my questions promptly. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to friends & family!

Perfect location for family of 4

4.5 stars! We've stayed at various units within Honua Kai, and the resort never disappoints, with its great location on the beach, access to numerous pools, and Duke's just steps away for an easy and delicious meal (don't miss the hula pie!). This unit was no exception. It was clean and a good size for our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 elementary-aged children). The fold-down bed in the living room was fine for our 8-year-old daughter but may be a tight squeeze for an adult. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare at least one meal per day, and we enjoyed many of our meals on the lanai, which had a peekaboo view of the ocean. The second floor location made it easily accessible from both the elevator and the stairs. We were unlucky enough that our vacation coincided with unusually rainy weather and a big storm coming in, but because the unit was so comfortable, we didn't mind too much staying inside more than expected! Fereshteh promptly responded to all our questions, and we really appreciated her letting us check in a little early! The only minor improvements I'd suggest are: (1) installing a few towel racks/rings in the bathroom for hand towels; and (2) installing brighter light bulbs in the kitchen and living area because those areas always seemed dark, even when all the lights were turned on. The dryer also takes a really long time to dry, requiring us to run repeated cycles, but that may just be a function of the type of dryer that Honua Kai installs.

Beautiful Condo!

We have stayed in the Honua Kai once before and our second stay didn't disappoint. The large acordian style patio door just opens the place up and makes you feel like you're outside the whole time. This condo was clean and they have just about everything you need to spend the day at the beach including four folding chairs and a large bag to carry all your stuff. There's a decent grocery store just across the street. We always go there to pick up some groceries for the week so we're not eating out for every meal. Dukes is a great restaurant right on site. And a few years ago they opened an empty lot right next to the Honua Kai with a bunch of food trucks as well. The only complaint we have has to do with the fact that the listing states that the condo "sleeps four" with a "queen convertible bed" in the living room. We looked for this feature specifically because I (the husband) snore pretty badly. Unfortunately the bed is not a fold out bed (it's a fold flat) and is quite small and uncomfortable. Definitely not a queen size.... My wife is only 5'4" and barely fit on it. She slept there on the first night and woke up with a sore back so I (6'4") slept on it for the rest of the trip with my feet hanging off the end. Had we taken our two smaller children assuming that they could sleep on this sleeper sofa, we would have had to have one of them sleep on the floor. If this hadn't been an issue for us, we would given 5 stars in all categories!

The room was great. It was clean and bright. My girls slept on the pull out couch and it was very comfy. The bed in the bedroom was ok could definitely use a mattress topper. There were 2 beach chairs an umbrella and 1 boogie board. The room was close to the elevator which made it easy to get to and from the pool. The kitchen was nicely stocked. Lots of plates, bowls, silverware pots and pans. It was nice to have a washer and dryer. We have stayed at this hotel a few times and love the pools and hot tubs

It was my 5th trip to the island of Maui, my happy place and the owner truly made it happy. First time at her condo and it was more then everything I expected. I had already researched the resort and new it was a gem but those windows just open up and your outside living is exactly that. My mom and I literally sat on that lanai every chance we got, coffee, breakfast made in the nice kitchen, dinner from locally sourced fish and veggies and rainbows!. This was my best stay in Maui and I look forward to booking with the owner again. Also the fact the check in was simple and Check out even easier made it nice. Boogie boards and chairs and comfy bed. No words for the peak a boo view of the ocean. Saw spinner dolphins from lanai at dinner. Planning next trip with same owner and condo. Book it!!!!

Beautiful condo in an amazing location

My family (wife, son 14 months) had an amazing time staying here. The condo was beautiful and the resort has everything you could need. The location was great as it was close to some really nice beaches, restaurants, and grocery stores. We would absolutely stay here again.

Controlling Owners

The owners seemed hyper controlling. We were to remove shoes when entering condo, for example. There were a plethora of do’s and don’t s We are both responsible adults and would have exerted the same care without the tight reins. People either have integrity or they don’t. We would have been responsible and neat without all the excessive rules. Irresponsible people are not going to become responsible just because they are bombarded with rules. In fact, those folks will probably never read all the excessive information.

We enjoyed stay!

The property was clean, quiet. Everything that we needed for our stay was included and more. Communication was clear and precise from the property manager. Overall our family enjoyed our stay here at Kaanapail.

Great 1 br condo

The condo was perfect for what we needed. couldnt have been in a better area and the beach was super nice and not that crowded and had incredible snorkeling. Loved our time here and will definitely be back!

Ocean view/garden view unit

The Honua Kai is a beautiful property, and this unit provides a nice view of the ocean and gardens and has all that's needed for a comfortable stay. The property manager is committed to making guests happy and comfortable and a pleasure to work with. The pull-out bed in the living room is surprisingly comfortable. Note for spring and summer 2022 visitors: the Honua Kai is undergoing painting so be sure to check if your unit will be affected. The property manager of this unit was very responsive to this issue.

Wonderful condo & resort

My family including a six-year-old and two-year-old spent one week in this condo and I highly recommend it. I can go ahead everything that made it convenient and easy for my kids including a pack and play, high chair, toys for the beach and pool. The location of the condo was great because it was quiet but easy access to the elevator close to the pool and beach. The condo is also located across the street from a supermarket which is very convenient. I highly recommend staying at this condo.

A Wonderful Spot

We just loved everything about our stay at 208 Honua Kai condos. Having never been to Maui, we weren't really sure where to stay. The location of this condo was perfect for us. We didn't rent a car, but we enjoyed a daily walk along the board walk and took an uber into Lahaina a few times. We walked down to Whaler's Village (about a mile and a half each way) several times. There is also a grocery store two blocks away. The resort has lovely pools and amenities, although we spent most of our time on the beach playing in the ocean and watching the whales. The condo was very nice! The kitchen area is a little dark, but as we didn't cook any actual meals there, it was fine for grabbing a quick breakfast or lunch. I loved sitting out on the lanai in the mornings. It's very peaceful on that side of the resort with a small slice of ocean view. The bathroom is quite large, but there isn't much storage in the bedroom for a week's worth of clothing. Overall, I would love staying at this property again.

Love Honua Kai

This property is our absolute favorite in Maui and this unit didn't disappoint. Although it wasn't a 'view' unit, from the balcony, you could see the ocean to the side. We'd definitely stay again. There were great extras available including a couple of nice Tommy Bahama backpack beach chairs that was super nice to be able to use. The Wusthof knifes were awesome - not what you'd expect from a rental. There are a couple of items the unit needs including a couple regular pans. The pans are all HUGE but we needed a simple fry pan to make scrambled eggs so that was challanging! ;) Loads of plates, but could use some more bowls. And a non-wood cutting board would be good addition as well. Overall easy process and nice unit. We'd definitely stay again.

This resort is beautiful. Duke's food is great and there is good snorkeling right on the beach there. The futon type bed is pretty small, good thing we didn't have a 4th person!
