2 bedroom, 1 bath with shower and tub

A new shingled year-round cottage with old fashioned charm located at the end of a private road in a state that has been rated the most peaceful in the country and one of the top three states for bicycle touring. A hundred acres of woods are right out the back door, with hiking trails just 1 mile away, ocean and lake 1.5 miles, ocean beach and lobster pound 3 miles. It's a peaceful place that is private, but not isolated. Neighbors are very friendly and the town is community-minded.
This is a real neighborhood, with a village market a mile away where the locals meet for coffee every morning, farm stands for fresh bread, milk, vegetables and fruit. A local lobsterman whose wife cooks lobsters he caught in the morning to order for you to pick up in the evening is two minutes away. A local winery is five minutes further. Five minutes to the ocean, five minutes to the lake, five minutes to trails in the coastal mountains, 12 minutes to Camden Harbor, 20 minutes to Belfast, 30 minutes to Rockland, 1.5 hours to Acadia National Park. This is a safe location for solo woman travelers and perfect for a writer's retreat. Activities and Attractions: Hiking, fresh vegetables from a nearby farm, and wine tasting at local vineyards. During summer: Minutes to sailing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and more hiking to dramatic mountain-top views. Three golf courses within 20 minutes, two of them with ocean views. Dine at Francine's Bistro or Long Grain in the village of Camden (open year round) after an afternoon sail across Penobscot Bay, or get fresh lobster from a fisherman a minute down the road (cooked to order and pick up) to eat at the cottage picnic table or dine at internationally rated Primo's in Rockland after touring local museums and galleries, lighthouses and cobblestone beaches. There is no shortage of year-round fine dining and views on the Maine coast. Back at the cottage at night, loons call from a nearby pond, owls hoot from several hundred acres of woods out the back door. Wild turkeys and deer regard the field as their own and moose and bald eagles make periodic visits. This is the real Maine --all the amenities and stunning beauty the Penobscot Bay area is known for are just ten minutes away, but the serenity and simple beauty of the cottage is far enough away from the tourist hustle to really relax. Summer Amenities: Washer and dryer. Full Kitchen. Herb garden growing outside door. Linens, towels, soap, paper products included. Gas grill and picnic table. Books, board games. Basic satellite TV. DVD/VCR. Tons of old movies. For other gear: Kayak rentals, bicycle rentals, guided trips, two-hour sails are all close by. Solid recommendations for where to go and what to see, on and off the beaten track, from a local who knows the area inside-out. This is a modern, private Maine shingled cottage-style house built 12 years ago as a year-round house. The owner is on the property in another cabin not visible from the cottage.

Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 von 5

The comfortable, spacious and spotless cottage nestled among lush green trees and colorful wildflowers was my perfect vacation retreat. I enjoyed the opportunity to just relax at the cottage or visit coastal towns, lakes and hiking trails close by. I always felt like I was coming home after a day of sightseeing, shopping or hiking. Christine's hospitality and knowledge of the area is unbeatable. She always made sure I was comfortable. Her helpful tips of the area made all the difference in making the best use of my time here. This was truly a dream vacation for me.

Wildflower Cottage is the most comfy, cozy, relaxing hideaway!

  • 5 von 5

To stay here is to know complete relaxation. We were close to all the wonderful things we wanted to see and do. But when you got back "home" the serenity of the cottage made you feel so peaceful. Christine is a wonderful host. She can share the secret places that only a native would know how to find. We have stayed here before and hope to go back many times!!

Peaceful and comfortable vacation week.

  • 5 von 5

The Wildflower Cottage is lovely, fresh and clean, with a nice layout for relaxing, cooking and dining. It is like the description on the web. We found it to be well located for its quite and for access to hiking, the beaches and other towns. Our host had good recommendation which we followed.

Outdoor activity highlights were hiking up to Bald Rock and bald Mountain among others. Cellardoor winery for a break between hikes. Lincolnville restaurants good for typical local fair. Cooked lobster from down the street for take home was delicious and easy. Green Tree coffee roasters and Dot's across from them. In Belfast, amazing Neapolitan pizza at Meanwhile in Belfast restaurant, with nice wine list and Italian beers. In Camden, I recommend the lobster stew at Waterfront. Many bookstores in Camden to explore on rainy days.

We thank our host for providing the lovely cottage and would recommend it to others.

Vermieter-Kommentar: In the five years I have been renting I have had wonderful guests! I think the reason is that I get a chance to talk to every single one on the telephone before they rent to see if this is what they want and I give them a week to ask questions before they commit to renting. The result? MY GUESTS LOVE THE COTTAGE! The most common response I get is: "This is much better than the photos."

Beautiful little house

  • 5 von 5

This house was a great find! Set back from the road and nestled in woods, it is very secluded while only 4 miles or so from the Lincolnville beach on Penobscot Bay. Everything was extremely well-finished, clean, and worked well. The kitchen/great room was well stocked with more than the basics; spices, teas, coffee, lobster-eating necessities, books, pillows, park passes, etc. The owner was available via cellphone when I had a question. Hummingbirds came to the window boxes. All our meals in town and in Camden were excellent. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone.

Vermieter-Kommentar: Renting your house by the week is a business. After five years, I've worked out the kinks! Every year, I upgrade the cottage in the spring. Before I rent I talk to all guests to make sure the cottage is what they are looking for, I require a modest refundable deposit, and greet guests when they arrive to answer questions and provide directions to local attractions. The result is my property is treated well and that allows my guests to have a great and relaxing vacation!

A lovely cottage

  • 5 von 5

Wildflower Cottage is a beautifully kept and charming place to spend a relaxing vacation -- the photos really do match reality! We enjoyed hiking in the area, the ferry to lovely Islesboro, daily lobster consumption, exploring local towns - esp. Camden, Belfast, and Rockport - and hosting old friends from Portland for a day. Christine does a wonderful job managing the house. 100% recommend!

Charming & Relaxing

  • 5 von 5

We had a fantastic time at the Wildflower Cottage. It was clean and attractive and the owner was extremely helpful and friendly. We hope to visit again. The house is perfectly situated close to the lake and the ocean. The drive from Camden to the house is both dramatic and gorgeous. No need to promote the wonders of Camden either - great restaurants and shops and views!
