Our lovingly renovated Maison de Maitre has all the modern comforts you need in the traditional decor. Our superb swimming pool can be enjoyed to refresh in the summer heat, or to simply relax in the quiet environs. The garden offers several seating areas to allow you to appreciate the surrounding countryside. Our rooms offer, air conditioning, heating, coffee / tea facilities and comfortable setting. We operate as a bed and breakfast and offer 2 rooms. One room can accomodate up either 3 Adults or 2 Adults and 2 Children, with a Queen size bed and a sofa bed (120cms). Our other room can host 2 adults or 1 Adult and child as it has a queen size bed only.
It is not possible for us to provide extra bedding. There are no cooking facilites for the guests. It is room only on bed and breakfast basis. We offer a Table D'hote where you can book your evening meal. Please give us Notice by the morning for us to provide you with a 3 course meal prepared by the owner a chef of 30 years experience. Contact us and we will discuss with you any preferences. Meals are prepared fresh from that day's market produce. The Cognac vineyards lead you to our home, the River Charente is a 10 minute walk leading to the 3 old bridges crossing the river all the way to Vibrac. Refresh your self by paddling in the river shallows on a hot summer day. Angeac Charente is famous for it's Dinasour era archeological site where some of the largest dinasour discovories have been made, the most recent a tree trunk 140 million years old!!. Visit old charming towns, Bassac and Saint Simon where the old boats used to carry merchandise down the river. Visit the Museam at Saint Simon, or the old Abbey at Bassac all 10 minutes away by car. Drive to La Rochelle for a day on the Atlantic coast, stop at Rochefort and see the old Galleons, or Royan and Blaye as well as the pretty villages on the Estuary coast. On the north East, a visit to Brantome is a must. Stop and visit the fortress at Villebois LaVallette and the Chateau Le Mercerie at Magnac Lavallete Villars, both less than 40 minutes away.
Visit the castle at Rochefoucould, where you can see the old Rock for which the Chateau is named.
Cognac and Jarnac homes of the famous Cognac houses, visits are organised where you can learn the history of Cognac and the process to get this famous spirit. For the art lovers, Angouleme the capital city of Comics, take the walking tour and see the Paintings on the houses around the city or come in January for the Comic Festival. September sees the Classic car race Rampart D' Angouleme for the car enthusiast. Visit Bordeaux the City of wine. You can visit the Cite Du Vin a half day experience in the world of wines from all over the world. The beautiful Boulevards, the markets, the Cathedral are all places to visit in this beautiful City.
