W Lake Mitchell cottage. 1/2 mile to Manistee Natl Forest access w/local trails for XC ski & snowshoe. Head out your door! EZ connect to snowmobile Trail 6. No need to trailer toys. Downhill skiing or snowboarding your thing? The cottage is conveniently located between Caberfae Peaks (15 mi) & Crystal Mountain (25 mi).
Ice fisherman: bring your hard water gear here and head out on the lake via the deeded private frontage, 250 yards out your door. The cottage is in the small cove area, known for some of the best fishing on the lake. Seasonal boat dock with soft bottom, not good swimming. Distant view of the water. Great central location for hikers. Either Manistee River Trail or NCT / Fife Lake Loop are 25 min.
Restaurants, shopping, all one needs, 4-8 miles.
Driveway parking for three vehicles with additional option for a trailer.
Master bedroom has private 1/2 bath. 2nd bedroom is a cozy double and 3rd with twin bunks for the kids or those single pals.
Full bath central to all. Small cozy cottage owned and managed by same folks for years. Regular updates and good maintenance.

Great Getaway

We stayed for mother’s day weekend. Hank provided all the check-in/out info well in advance and followed up during our stay to make sure everything was good. The new fire pit and outside chairs are awesome! You can see the lake and hear plenty of birds - so peaceful When we get back to Cadillac we look forward to staying here again.

Outdoorsman's paradise

We rented Hank's place to get out and about in the surrounding public lands. Hank was very knowledgeable of the area and more than willing to share his favorite locations and trails with us. The cabin was comfortable and very conveniently located. Hank was an excellent host making sure we were comfortable and satisfied with our experience throughout. Highly recommend.

Cadillac Retreat

Peace in the pines

We had the most amazing trip. The cottage is cute and cozy and had all the basic amenities we needed. The view out the front window was beautiful and peaceful. Enjoyed looking out by the fire and drinking our coffee every morning. Great location and not far from town for the needed grocery runs etc. It was a relaxing trip and we enjoyed our time on the trails. We are already planning our next trip back up to enjoy some spring summer and fall fun. Hank and Heather were excellent hosts.

Upnorth Trip

This place was misrepresented in the description that was online at the time. This place is not on the water. There is no view of a lake and the dock that is shown is about a half a block down the street. We were so disappointed and the owner did not work with us at all In fact, upon arrival, the book on the table described it more in detail, which should’ve been put on the description online, and the owner decided to change the description after we complained, Which was deceitful needless to say we had to file a claim with Vrbo.

This review is inaccurate. The guests reported that the cottage provided direct water frontage for swimming. It does not and was not marketed as such. It is one of 8 adjoining cottages that own 180 foot of frontage at the end of the row. Lake Mitchell is visible from the cottage, but not a direct view. All pictures in the listing were taken from the cottage or the private shared frontage. As a host I reached out to all guests who have future reservations following this person's comment. All understood and retained their reservation. As you consider visiting our cottage I encourage you to read reviews submitted prior to and following this guests stay (see both VRBO & Airbnb). I also welcome any inquiries & am glad to provide additional photos. I do hope that you consider staying at our place, I think you'll enjoy it!

We’ve owned the cottage since 1998! Enjoy what the area offers so much that when the opportunity presented itself we bought a place 1/2 mile from the cottage and moved here in June 2023. We’ll leave you alone, but if interested have a lot of info about all things Cadillac, the National Forest… so much available right from the cottage.

350 yards to Manistee National Forest foot trail access in the Brandy Brook Wildlife area. Abundant wildlife. (I spotted black bear the first Saturday in August) Great hunting or hiking.

1/4 mile to boat launch. Only 4 miles to Cadillac West for good restaurants and all the basics or 7 miles to downtown Cadillac for anything else.
14 mile drive to Caberfae, 30 miles to Crystal Mtn.
ORV-OHV -snowmobile trail 6= 2.7 rideable miles. Seasonal roads for exploring = 2.25 miles.
