Cabin 53 steps from Porter Beach on Lake Michigan: Family & Pet-Friendly

This cabin has the best view of Lake Michigan and the Chicago Skyline, inside and outside. This delightfully open cabin with two bedrooms and a perfect view of Porter Beach and Lake Michigan is nestled in the Indiana Dunes and just 53 steps away from magnificent Lake Michigan. The only thing between you and the lake is 53 stairs and a lovely sand beach. There is sleeping for 4 currently but the couch can be used to sleep 2 more people, all 3 beds are queen size. Ample seating in the living area includes dining room chairs and living room sofa with spinning chairs. The dining room table can be expanded to meet 9 persons dining needs or the leaves can be easily hidden away for a more intimate dining experience. The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped with a full size refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, toaster, Kuerig cup coffee maker, and Central Air (Furnace/Air Conditioning). All linens (bath towels, hand towels, wash clothes and dish towels, bedding) are provided. There is a full wrap around deck with chairs and a Weber propane gas grill. The beach is a public beach, about a half mile from the main Dunes State Park Beach, we have beach toys for children of all ages, footballs, spike ball, soccer balls and other beach games. This is the top level of a 2 story cabin with 2 parking spaces, there are no people staying in the basement of the property, it is unfinished. Should you want to venture beyond the beach numerous nearby attractions include Chesterton European Market (Saturdays), hiking, biking, dining, breweries, shopping, museums, art galleries, an arboretum, golfing, waterpark, farmers markets, live theatre, movie theatres, skating, bowling and much more.

I don’t know what to say other than it’s a great property! Excellent view of the beach and lake. We walked on the beach all the days even tho it’s December. Everything you need is supplied. It’s clean and fully functional. Our family, including our pups, really enjoyed it there! Would definitely stay again.

Will and Liz were very welcoming and communicative. We didn't have any issues or serious questions during our stay. The view is the star of this property, but the home was also comfortable and clean with everything we could have needed.

What a great place! Too bad the weather did not cooperate! We got there the day before a winter storm hit. The host, William, was very accommodating by offering us extra nights but we were a little wary of the 5–10 inches of snow predicted so we had cut our trip short. The view from the cabin is incredible and the beach was just lovely.Chesterton seemed like an interesting town to explore in addition to the parks. We will definitely be back - maybe when it’s warmer! Even though the weather was an issue we are still glad for the time we had!

Awesome location with amazing views of Lake Michigan. Very close to Indiana Sand Dunes. We really enjoyed hiking at the state park and visiting the National Park too. We loved our stay at the cabin on the lake! Really great location. Close to the National Park. Great views of the lake and lake access is super convenient with the steps down directly next to the property. Ours dogs also enjoyed the beach and laying on the deck! We would definitely stay here again!

We had an amazing time. The house was perfect for me and my two daughters and our dog. The views from the house and the porch are spectacular. The beach is literally just down the steps. The owners think of everything - paddle boards, beach chairs, sand toys, and more! We had a wonderful time and are already planning our next stay.

The house was AMAZING! The photos do not compare to the views of the lake - spectacular is the only word to describe it. The living space faces the lake with large open windows so your view from almost every corner is beach. The water was fairly choppy during our stay but it meant that we could hear the sound of the waves with the windows open constantly. The peace that we felt during this stay was unmistakable. My family had an amazing time with much needed peace, quiet and rest! Thank you so much.

Will and Liz’s cabin on Lake Michigan was a wonderful place to spend a long weekend with my spouse and our infant son. The views of the lake were remarkable. The beach was clean, quiet, and incredibly relaxing, complete with beautiful sunsets and crashing waves. The cabin itself was cozy and welcoming, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We hope to visit again.

We had a wonderful stay! The house was spotless and I especially appreciated that everything was on one floor, which made babyproofing much easier. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking and grilling, and the beach supplies (chairs, umbrella, toys, etc.) were such a thoughtful touch. The location was perfect—just a short walk to the beach with beautiful views both inside and outside the home. Will was communicative and helpful throughout our stay. We’d definitely come back!

We loved it! Amazing view, pretty house :) we traveled with our newborn and I was so happy to found a super cute white noise machine in our room because we have forgotten ours back at home and baby slept sooo good! On an another note, the stairs to the beach were very steep and A LOT! So, if you’re traveling with young kids and older folks, it can be stressful and exhausting. In general we loved everything about the house, it had everything we needed to cook and even beach essentials like chairs, kayak, toys, etc… Though I’d say maybe change the shower curtains for doors? They weren’t clean and they had hair and other residues on them as well as and old used bar soap in the shower, ugh…
