Amazing views and perfect location

We absolutely loved our stay at this location. Waking up to the ocean and seeing the whales breach every morning was the highlight of our trip. The location is fantastic with lots of restaurants, food trucks, shops, and stores within a 10-minute walk. It’s also close to great beaches! Only downside was the A/C was out of order when we arrived. But the owner was quick to respond and accommodating.

Better than imagined

My 6th trip to Maui and this room is the best so far. Its simple, yet offers the best view that I've seen yet. The resort doesn't offer a ton of amenities, but that keeps it less busy and more peaceful. I absolutely loved it! Plenty of shopping, coffee and restaurants in walking distance.

A great place for a family with teens… on the water!

We had a fantastic stay with our 15 and 17 year old daughters. While the unit isn’t as updated as others it’s clean, comfy and the beds are comfortable! Who needs top of the line ($$$) when you’re hardly home! The corner unit provides wonderful views of the resort, turtles swimming by, sunsets, you name it. The a/c units were so helpful in the evening for swimming. Papakea itself is really nice. We wished we had more time to utilize all its amenities. We did get a chance to go to the lei making class which was fun. The pools are really nice and…shuffleboard! Nicole was easy to work with leading up to our trip. Basic amenities are provided along with leftover nonperishable foods/spices. That was super helpful. Plenty of tp, laundry detergent, dish soap, paper towels, etc. This is a great choice for your Maui stay!

The view was a 12/10. I would stay here again just for the view. The condo was a little tired with it's furnishing etc. and encountered bugs. This was our 3rd stay at the Papakea Resort and love this resort. I will say that this condo was the best supplied that we have stayed in except for soap and toilet paper. Would have loved having a tv in the bedroom, but not a deal breaker. The owner was great at communication and checking in and out was super easy. I would give this a good rating. There is a lot to do just staying at the resort, but a lot of things nearby also. Good supplied kitchen.

Breathtaking views!!

Breathtaking views from this beach/ocean front unit also situated just steps away from the pool and hot tub. We were there during whale season and watched all the action right from the lanai. The resort is kept very clean and the staff is extremly friendly. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and playing in the ocean. Made great family memories!!

The views from this unit are amazing, whales non stop! The beds and linens could use an upgrade. And we were a bit disappointed that there was a note on the washer requesting we wash and dry our linens and towels before we left. We did do it but I think we should have been made aware ahead of time so we could have planned our last couple days better. Overall it was a great trip.

Excellent condo! We couldn’t get any closer to the water!

This condo is amazing! One bedroom with two beds in the lofted area, plus a pull out couch. We did travel with a toddler and rented a baby gate to keep him from going to the loft. The kitchen was well supplied with everything we needed. Nicole was wonderful to communicate with and was incredibly prompt and friendly. The property is wonderful with lots of options for activities. We will definitely be staying at Papakea again! Thank you, Nicole, for sharing your condo with us!

It was worth the price considering other condos are a lot more expensive. No photos of the master bedroom means the room is at the back of the condo in a cave with no decorations, no light switches, a flickering table lamp, and a shaky, plastic covered double bed. If you're coming to Maui, find a condo with a beach. This complex pretends to have a beach but it doesn't. Air conditioning is weak and makes constant noise. Portable air unit is so loud, you can't hear the waves. Only one TV in living room. This place isn't terrible, just an old, average unit. Oh, and the remodeled bathrooms are okay. The bowl sinks wobble and the stone shower floors hurt your feet.

One of the best views in the place!

Our experience was nice even through we were there during the biggest rains! It came in so hard hrough our window and seals and made a mess to clean up. The condo has been around for a long time and needs some work. It would have been nice to have laundry detergent and dish washing soap available for the amenities advertized. We had to go out and buy some to clean up the towels. Although the owner was responsive in handling out situation, no one showed up. The rest of the trip was enjoyable and there are a lot of places to eat near by. Our favorites were the food trucks! Staff were all very nice and it's a very quiet place. We saw whales off the paito that was magical!! We might consider staying somewhere next time that has some sort of bar or place to get a drink without leaving the resort but you can't beat the view!

Cute place and amazing views!

My family and I loved staying at this property. It was just the right size for my family. It was stocked with everything you need such as kitchen appliances, plates, silverware, pots and pans, utensils, towels, boogie boards, snorkeling gear and rafts. Nicole was so accommodating! We asked to extend our stay for a week and she did everything she could to make it as easy as possible! Will definitely be staying here again.

If you can't give 5 Stars ANYWHERE on Maui, then you've got issues!

This property (Papakea) and A401 are by far the choicest places we have stay on the West Maui coast. We've stayed at the Papakea three times since November and have loved every minute. The property manager was quick to respond to any/all questions. The housekeeping lady was a sweetheart when it came to looking for something we left behind. THIS IS THE PLACE I will try to book every time for my trips to Maui.

A corner unit on the top floor offers great views of the ocean; with downstairs bedroom plus loft, well stocked-kitchen. Trade off is the dusty clutter in drawers, closets and storage areas; painters trays above refrigerator. Last night in, lost all power in the bedroom due to apparent short in lights. We love Papakea, but watch for slippery spots (when wet) on stairs.

Zero communication. Fees not disclosed. Broken appliances.

We had several issues during our stay. 1. When we arrived the front office had no knowledge of our reservations and were going to deny our checkin because the owner had not properly notified them of our reservations. After about a 30 minute fiasco of showing proof of our VRBO reservation and after unsuccessfully trying to contact the owner they were able to reach their house cleaner and finally decided to make an exception and allow us to check in. If we had been 30 minutes later in arriving we wouldn’t have been able to check in as their office would have been closed (according to the office person). They said the problem was that they need an email from the owner authorizing check-in which was not provided to them. 2. The dishwasher never worked. We informed house cleaner (Nani) and a new dishwasher was ordered. 6 days in, the installer arrived and while I was talking to him he said the replacement dishwasher is a specialty unit made to fit under a sink and since the dishwasher isn’t under the sink there is no reason to have it since it costs more than double ($1100) and is cheaper quality than a regular dishwasher. Since if this were my condo I would want a full size better quality dishwasher for a lower price - I suggested that the installer call the owner rather than just installing the special dishwasher. We had already gone 6 days hand-washing so were willing to finish out our stay without a working dishwasher expecting they would appreciate having the ‘right’ dishwasher. The installer told them they could easily save $500-$700 by going with a regular size one. He even suggested to Nani that they pass the savings on to us - due to the inconvenience. 3. Refrigerator leaks considerable water onto the top shelf. 4. there is something wrong with the electrical wiring in the bedroom. When things are plugged into the wall plug straight ahead of the door, the lamps flicker. Might be short? I’d suggest you have it checked out. 5. We were charged a daily resort fee by the resort which was not disclosed on the VRBO listing when we made the reservation. We messaged the owner three times and haven’t had any response. UPDATE: After my 4th message threatening further action I finally got a response. Great views of the ocean though.
