We returned because we love it!

We stayed in this house 5 years ago and we decided to return because it fits our needs. Being on the beach is the key. Not having the path in front of the house but just a block away is perfect. Being an older house makes it more comfortable for us. There are a lot of quirky things about this house (the ancient kitchen, the bunk room upstairs, the downstairs bathroom, the bed under the stairs) which suit us but maybe not everyone.

2nd time renting this beach cottage

Me and my family love this beach cottage! We had rented it back in 2018 and had a great time so we returned this year and will return again in the future. The cottage is right on the sand, 2 blocks down from the boardwalk, so you can easily walk or ride a bike to get to the pier or any of the many shops and restaurants. The only issues we had were: 1. The owner showed up and walked right into the apartment, where my daughter and grand children were getting ready for lunch, without knocking or identifying himself. This really scared my daughter, having a stranger walk in on her. 2. On another day, someone came into the house, took out the trash and pulled the bins out of the garage, for trash pickup, where our vehicles were parked. I appreciate that someone took the time to do this, however I was very uncomfortable with the fact that they were in the unit without my knowledge or permission, as well, when we were not there. We read the handbook and were prepared to put the bins out ourselves, as it stated. In the future, the owner should be more mindful of the guests privacy. Other than that I would recommend this place for anyone wanting a lovely experience on the beach. Although you may want to stay away on a holiday weekend, the beach goers get pretty rowdy!

Very pleased!

All in all our group was very happy with all aspects of the accommodation. There were a few housekeeping issues that needed to be addressed but the management team was quick to respond. It was amazing hearing the waves and watching the sunrise and sunset. Very comfortable. Could have been better cleaned, but not a big deal.

Location, simplicity, beach view and ocean.

Loved the location. Sunset views were amazing. Waves crashing all day and night. Just far enough that the boardwalk is not in the backyard. Walking distance to Newport beach. The home is dated but the beauty of is it is intended to be that way. Based on a picture they had hanging on the wall in the home this is one of the original properties in the area before all the other homes were built. Very nostalgic. Plenty of room for sleeping. My only gripe is the master bedroom bed was uncomfortable but I have back issues. Might be okay for someone without back issues. Definitely would stay here again if coming back to this area.

Great for Families

We loved this quaint old house on the beach. There was parking for my large SUV on the side. Love the outdoor shower with hot water! There are plenty of beds for kids and the views are great. We loved falling asleep listening to the ocean. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would love to book again.

Great location!

Great location, cute bungalow feel, but things were old, uneven flooring and blinds on kitchen door were falling apart, and it would have been nice to have a second shower, but there were lots of beds and we still had a really great time!

This was a perfect cottage for the week. It is built in 1913 and still has a lot of charm.

This was in a prime ocean front property. Parking was never an issue. Plenty of room. The only issue is, there’s only one shower upstairs. The second bathroom only had a small tub. I would recommend that cabinets in kitchen should be purged to a minimum. There are some old kitchen item and ills and ends that are duplicated. Can’t wait to book again.

Perfect location

Great beach house a block from the end of the boardwalk. Not fancy (on purpose) but very comfortable and usable. Perfect for our group and needs. The kitchen is very basic yet well equipped. An outdoor shower would be the only addition due to the nature of the downstairs bathroom.

The location is amazing. The home is quite rustic. Sloped floor, light switches in odd places. Tall steps (making them hard for my 2 yr old to walk down). Comfortable beds. Well stocked kitchen. We had ants show up in the bedroom. We texted the number fowe were given for any problems. He got back to us the next day. For the price when I looked after the fact, you can get a very similar location and a more updated cottage. We booked more last minute so availability was less. I would probably opt to stay elsewhere but in a similar location.

Perfect location. Property is exactly as described. Outstanding service from property manager.

Our group (two couples and our 5-year old grandson) enjoyed nine days here in February, 2018. The property fully met our expectations—the listing and photos are accurate. The views, patio, fenced beach area, and location are superb—200 feet past the boardwalk, so very little pedestrian and no bike traffic in front of the property makes it quite private. Easy walk/bike to the piers and services at Newport and Balboa piers. The soothing sound of the surf is heard day and night. We opted for the linen service which is a great value—good quality and quantity of bed, bath, and beach linens. Furniture, TVs, and kitchen utensils are all very comfortable and complete. Garage stahl accommodated our rental Tahoe. Washer/dryer work well. We had two minor requests of the property manager shortly after we checked in. Their response was instant and we were completely satisfied and very impressed. There are three separate sleeping rooms/areas—two on the main floor and then the “dormitory” upstairs. Property next door was recently demolished and new unit is under construction, so we had substantial construction noise M-F. That should largely be complete by March, 2018. If we took our chairs down by the water, we didn’t hear the noise. That is just a temporary issue and not anything the manager has any control over. It didn’t bother us. In summary, our entire group loved the beach home and would enjoy renting it again.

Charming Beach Front Location!!

This charming 1930's cottage was perfect for our family with teenagers! We had an amazing view of the water and beautiful beach out the front window and from the second story. The location was wonderful! We walked to the bike rental and explored Newport Beach by bike...the boardwalk was one block away. There were a few kitchen basics missing and several "extras" that cluttered the cupboards (which didn't leave a lot of storage room), but we definitely made do. For the price and location you can't beat it. We have already recommended this rental and would come back again if we had the opportunity.

Family Vacation!!!

We loved our stay at this home! It was first trip to California and we fell in love. We were close to everything and only 15 minutes from Disney. The beach was beautiful and we loved watching the surfers. We can't wait to come back!

Perfect cottage on the beach

Location, location, location!!! We loved the personal access to the beach. House was comfortable stocked with all necessities. We cooked all meals at the house. Garage was not tall enough for us to park our SUV all the way in, had to leave the garage door open. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Good price for a beach house.

WONDERFUL LOCATION

You cannot get better than this location. The sunsets were amazing. There were a lot of biking, jogging paths nearby. The management company was very quick to work with us with any issues we had. I would recommend any rentals managed by Villa Rentals.

Best location!

Comfortable old cottage :) Clean place, there was a little ant problem for a few days, but then it subsided. Best location! Would definitely stay here again!
