There is something for everyone at this little Log Cabin- welcome to our Happy Place.
***IMPORTANT:
This is a family owned log cabin. We took a huge leap and bought it during the pandemic, renovated it and put all our love and energy into it to be able rent it out for other people to enjoy when we are not using it. We want people to be able relax, explore, and decompress at our little log cabin. We hope you sit on the deck with a cup of coffee, reading a good book overlooking the lake, feeling the sun touching your shoulders- and know that it's God telling you how much you are loved, just as you are. We want to share our little slice of happiness with others. When you stay with us, we will treat you like family- which includes expecting you to be respectful of the neighbors who are also our friends, respecting the nature and wildlife that lives here with us, and being a good human. This is a very, very quiet area, please be aware of that before booking- NO PARTIES or events. Quiet hours are between 9pm and 8am.
Please also note- There is NO air-conditioning. We do get a nice cross breeze off the lake at night, and there are extra fans under the beds in the bunk room and in the Queen bedroom closet. If you need more heat in the winter the Thermostat is on the wall by the bathroom, and space heaters in the closet in the Queen bedroom. It gets pretty toasty in the bedrooms, especially if the doors are closed.
Please only book if you are comfortable with such a stay and agree to all policies and house rules-
NO PARTIES OR EVENTS- Quiet hours are from 9pm to 8am to respect neighbors.
WI-FI: We do have Wi-Fi- it's not great. We have the "best that is available" in the area, but it is just ok. It works off cell phone towers, so it is incoveniently placed next to the glass sliding door for the best service. Hot tip- If you are trying to work on a computer and watch Netflix at the same time you will want to make sure your phones are not connected to the network.
FIRES: You will need to purchase local firewood (Kwik Trip has bundles) and check fire danger warnings before making fires outside. Keep fire inside firepit. All fires must be extinguished when you leave them.
TRASH/RECYCLING: Trash pickup comes on Thursdays- if your stay falls over a Thursday, we ask that you put your trash in the red trash bin Wednesday night. There are metallic garbage cans outside on the side of the cabin for you to store garbage before your departure. Please make sure the lids are on tight, so the animals don't get into it.
WINTER VISITS: There is a shovel on the property. You may need to shovel a path to from your vehicle to the door area. A plow is sent for any snow over 2 inches. The driveway makes an excellent sled area:-)
MIND THE WILDLIFE: To prevent mice, do not leave food out. Clean up all crumbs and spills right away. We work very hard to prevent mice but, being a cabin in the woods, they will be attracted to the heat of the cabin particularly if food remnants are available. There are bears in the area so do not leave food outside overnight or you may have visitors. There was a fox that lived under the deck- we have lovingly named her Dottie Fern. She had babies a few years ago and a few of them live in the area. The neighbors in the big house in the woods leave scraps out for her and you can see her lounging in the sun there sometimes.
NO EATING OR DRINKING IN THE BEDROOMS- we don't want bugs and mice in the cabin.
IT IS A CABIN- there are gross bugs, lots of sand from the beach, and other crawlies that will get in if you don't keep the doors closed. There is a broom, vacuum and swiffer in the Queen Bedroom closet if you wish to use it during your stay.
SEPTIC AND WELL- We have a sand point well and a septic system. Please DO NOT flush anything other than toilet paper down the toilet or put anything down the drains, or it can cause a backup of the septic. Flushable wipes are a no-no. The water has been tested and is safe for drinking- the test results are in the cabin manual at the cabin, or feel free to message for results. A big jug of bottled water is also provided for drinking.
NO CLEANING FISH IN THE CABIN- I don't like it, it's gross. There is a white folding table in the outside closet you can use to clean them. Use it outside, and thoroughly wash it and return it to it's place after use.
THE DOCK/LAKE-
The lake is weedier by nature, which makes it amazing for fishing. We have an Aqua Thruster from midnight to 4 or 5am- it is basically a huge underwater fan that helps to blow the weeds away from the beach/swimming area. DO NOT TOUCH IT OR LET YOUR CHILDREN HANG ON IT. It can be dangerous to touch if it is running, and it is stupidly expensive so even if it's not running or dangerous, we don't want it broken. Basically, pretend it doesn't exist- it won't bother you if you don't bother it. If you have any questions about it, please let us know!
NO UNREGISTERED GUESTS ALLOWED- we want you to enjoy your time here with friends and family! Just register them under your reservation when you book. Reach out with any questions!
WASH YOUR DISHES BEFORE CHECK OUT-there is a dish drying rack in the cabinet to the right of the sink. We supply dish soap, dish towels and a fresh scrubby for you to use during your stay. Once again, we don't want to invite mice and bugs in by leaving food out and our cleaners may not always be available to clean immediately after check out.
Guest access
There is a very long, skinny driveway to the cabin and plenty of parking beside the cabin. DO NOT park on the septic system- it will be marked off with sticks.
