Steps to the Sand-Upscale Beach Cottage

Mission Beach is San Diego’s lively take on the classic boardwalk beach town with nearly two miles of oceanfront boardwalk, numerous rental shops and Belmont Park, a boardwalk amusement park, featuring the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster, originally built in 1925 but since restored, the Beach House Grill, miniature golf, bumper cars, rock climbing and an arcade.

There are plenty of bars in Mission Beach and adjacent Pacific Beach, and a hot nightlife scene for the young at heart.

There are also a host of activities for the whole family to enjoy including biking, beach volleyball, boogie boarding, surfing, whale watching, sport fishing and scuba diving.

A short walk across Mission Beach’s main thoroughfare leads you to the calm waters of Mission Bay, home to SeaWorld San Diego and the largest aquatic park of its kind, surrounded by grassy parks, playgrounds, picnic tables and miles of paved sidewalks. Rent a sailboat, take a leisurely bayside bike ride, or watch the kids play in this one-of-a-kind oasis.

This was the perfect little getaway spot! The home was spotless, recently remodeled, and had everything we needed. The location is amazingly, just steps from the boardwalk and within walking distance to great restaurants and bars. Having parking included was a huge bonus and made everything so much easier. We’d definitely stay here again!

Perfect little cottage

Nice clean place with everything you need. Lovely little monarchs would greet me everyday. Even some nice beach chairs and towels! Easy access to beach and boardwalk with good restaurants within walking distance. Hope to come back next summer!

Cozy Cottage Stay

We had a lovely time staying at the Steps to the Sand-Upscale Beach Cottage. The hosts were very responsive and made the check in/check out process a breeze! The location is very close to the beach. Extremely walkable neighborhood to local restaurants, coffee shops, and bars! We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back next time we are in the area. Highly recommend!

Perfect place for a couple!! The beach is steps away and within walking distance to coffee and food. We especially enjoyed Molly’s and The Olive Oven!!We rented a car and found downtown areas easy to navigate. Lots of pretty drives to different beaches and the coast line!

Quick stay but wish we could have stayed longer!

My wife traveled with me on a business trip, and we had a blast! The home is small but located in a great spot. Everything was updated, clean, and as advertised. Shannon was great to work with and communicated everything we needed to know. We would definitely stay in this unit again next time we are in San Diego!

Great location not only to both beach and bay but right in the middle to boardwalk and Pacific Beach area. Super cute and very clean. Responsive and quick communication to host. Only negative would be the bed but overall, enjoyed our stay.

Overall the property was great, clean and in a good location. It was slightly smaller than I expected and didn’t have the luxury feel that I was after. The kitchen and bathroom were very small, but definitely were well done. The rest of the house was really basic…Overall a win though.

Wonderful experience

I absolutely loved staying in this charming home by the water. When I first arrived, I noticed how clean and spotless the entire home was. Which I’m a big fan of especially when you’re that close to the water. The accommodations were amazing & very simplistic living. But everything that you needed was there. My only suggestion would be maybe an extra blanket for the couch area because it does get chilly at night..Other than that, I will be staying there again! I had such a wonderful and relaxing time and the owners and property managers were so attentive.

Short walk to beach

LOVE this updated charmer. A 2 minute walk to the beach - just one block! Plus so close to everything- little Italy, san Diego zoo. The place was spotless and so clean. The only thing to add is a cookie sheet and maybe aluminum foil, but the kitchen was stocked with keurig cups and toilet paper and paper towels, solo cups beach chairs and towels etc. Shannon was so great responding to any questions.

Our host was lovely and the location was AMAZING but it definitely wasn’t an “upscale” cottage. The air conditioners smelled like mold and though there were some nicer finishes it was really cheap overall. The bed and linens/towels were also very low quality.
