This is our home when we visit Durham - so if you’re staying at the house, we’re out of town! Our friend Emily takes care of the place while we’re gone - your communication will be with her and she lives around the corner if you need anything.
This pocket neighborhood of mill houses within Old North Durham was originally built for the workers of the Pearl Mill on Ellerbee Creek. Though only ruins of the Mill remain, the creek has been transformed into a peaceful 1 mile nature trail - the start is just down the block on Trinity Ave. To the north we’re bordered by the future Durham Rail Trail, so nature abounds!
However, you are less than half a mile to the center of downtown Durham. Walk to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday, jog to East Campus, or take yourself on a progressive food tour through downtown and back! You will feel far from the bustle, but you can’t find a better location to relax between activities.
You’ll have the entire home and property to yourself, including off-street parking for up to 3 cars.
A portion of the backyard is fully fenced for any 2- and 4-legged rascals to run around!
We’re delighted to share our home with you! We’ve renovated and decorated this historic mill house to appeal to our funky side, while also making us feel comfortable and cozy when we come home. Brightly tiled bathrooms and MCM pieces sourced from local reuse shops provide accents to the rich original wood floors, classic molding and high ceilings.
The kitchen has been completely refitted with gorgeously veined counter tops and all the modern amenities - including a Viking range and Ninja coffee maker (Megan loves her coffee!). There's plenty of prep space for the most elaborate of meals.
You can take your meals in the delightful breakfast nook, dining table for 8, or even at the front porch bistro set.
The bathroom remodels are thoroughly modern, and each bedroom has its own powder room. The downstairs bedroom includes a full bath, and the upstairs bedrooms get to share the magnificent Green bath, complete with soaker tub.
Bedrooms include one king, one queen and two twin beds, comfortable for whatever family or group you bring with you. There's plenty of storage space, with roomy closets and dressers in each room.
NEW: a portion of the backyard is fully fenced, providing a safe spot for your pup to stretch their legs!
