Our cabin, located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains is uniquely positioned overlooking a large open field where hawks hunt and bears leisurely stroll. Our neighbors have horses that peer over the fence (nosy) pet them but don’t feed them, please.
Our cabin was built in 1865 by a Confederate soldier returning from the Civil War. Eleven children were born and raised in John Pope Cabin. Our cabin is rustic. A large front porch with swing is waiting for you. @walnuthillcabin
The space
We allow pets but we are careful about how many. We prefer to discuss the pet situation before booking. Please include your pet when requesting a stay.
If you are a stickler for privacy…the bedrooms are adjoining but separated by a door!
A reminder...this is an old , rustic, vintage cabin so stairs are narrow to both bedrooms and bathroom so please be careful! Use handrails.
Please strip sheets and leave in pile on bed when leaving. This way I know how many beds were used.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE PARK IN DESIGNATED PARKING SPOTS(MARKED). DO NOT PARK ON CABIN LAWN.
Guest access
Feel free to hike! Hiking trails available! Stroll around the pond! Make yourself at home! The picture of the waterfall is on our property and easily accessible by map!
Other things to note
There is an outdoor shower behind the cabin! It works great and is very private!
Our cabin is now equipped with a Jotal wood burning stove as well as a split system to keep you warm as toast all winter and cool as a cuke in summer.
This winter we gave our beautiful cabin a makeover. We sanded and stained the floors and added a split system both upstairs and down providing extra warmth in the winter and cooling in the summer.
