Set in the middle of a 128-acre Wildlife Management Area, this gorgeous cabin offers a chance to view nature at its best. Take an opportunity to rest and recharge on the deck or around the Breo firepit on the terrace patio. View the sunset or stars from the outdoor claw foot tub! Silverthorn has a full-size kitchen, high speed internet and a smart TV in both the living room and bedroom. Austin to the west and Antiquing in Round Top to the east- you are less than 45 minutes away from top-tier restaurants or shopping, and when you get "home" you can spend a lazy evening enjoying a secluded retreat.

The driveway is not recommended for low profile vehicles.

This place is awesome and has so many nice amenities including fire pit with convenient wood plus kindle, soaking salts for the outdoor tub plus great shampoo for the really nice indoor shower with dual shower heads. The kitchen is top notch. The decor is really cute and bed so comfortable. We love it here and will be back since it’s only 4 minutes from Sherwood Ren Faire.

Great Experience!

We wanted to find a quiet place close to Austin for a relaxing weekend. This was the perfect place! The cabins were exactly as advertised. We were impressed with the attention to detail and creativity with the furnishings. The view from the large porch was a great location to watch the horses off in the distance, deer and variety of birds. Kellee did a great job communicating through several emails. We knew exactly what to expect and there were no surprises or disappointments. One of our highlights was meeting Kiki our first evening. She was very friendly and told us about the horses. She’s definitely a hard worker as we heard or saw her four-wheeler often as she took care of the horses and property. We could tell that she’s an asset to the daily operation of the large ranch. We had a great experience. Don’t hesitate to reserve this cabin.

Springtime Perfection

Surrounded by rolling hills this perfectly secluded home was just what we needed. Both cabins are beautifully appointed and offer everything you need and more. The bedding and towels were of the best quality and the kitchen lacked nothing. Turn off all the lights in the evening and enjoy the Texas night sky. Thanks for everything.

Weekend getaway

My wife and I stayed for long weekend and really enjoyed our stay. Visited family nearby and enjoyed evenings in Bastrop. Place was very clean and as advertised. No negatives but be aware it is bumpy gravel road to the house.

Even Prettier than the Pictures!

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend for our baby-moon. The pictures really don’t do this place justice. The property is large and private with multiple places to sit and watch the sunset. There is a fire pit outside that’s positioned to give you a great view. We didn’t use the outdoor tub because we visited in February, but it was still really neat! The interior is also gorgeous and feels luxurious. There are so many little amenities we didn’t expect. The hosts really thought of everything. Short drive to Bastrop, and about 45 to an hour from Austin. We did trips to both and loved being able to have a private area to retreat back to at the end of the night. 10 out 10. We would definitely visit again!

50th Anniversary Celebration

We stayed at VBRO Silverthorn in McDade, TX in January 2024 for our 50th wedding anniversary. It is a lovely property on a ranch with 40 Australian Stock horses. Silverhorn is on higher elevation on a hill that overlooks the ranch. The accommodations are top notch with everything you could possibly need for an extended stay. We had a great time on the property and did excursions to Austin, Round Top, Lockhart, and other small towns within an hour of Silverthorn. We want to go back in the future and give the property 5 out of 5 stars. You need to try their properties or you are missing out on a spectacular one of a kind accommodation.

Unique, private, beautiful getaway

This property is totally unique. It's two buildings connected by a front porch. One for the bedroom/bathroom and one for kitchen/living room. It was SUPER well stocked with everything we needed (and more)! Loved the decorations. Internet and cell coverage was strong - I worked remotely one day while there with no issues. Super comfy bed. 45min from downtown Austin, good BBQ nearby, too. The host was AMAZING and super easy to text with. We could tell they really wanted us to have a special stay. The property was at the top of a hill with great views and lots of privacy. We'll stay there again.

Sandhaven offers privacy and peace. Silverthorn is located in the middle of a 128-acre wildlife refuge. The Australian Stock Horse breeding operation is located on the lower 105 acres. Wifi (we have a cell tower on the property) offers the ability to work from the cabin. We are located within an easy drive to Austin, Bastrop or Round Top for shopping or entertainment, and 225 acres, surrounded on all sides by other large tracts of land, offers a chance to relax after your endeavors.
