This modern farmhouse is located on 22 acres in the Amana Colonies. The views are spectacular from both sides of the house. It is surrounded by friendly farm animals including mini donkeys, a mini horse, Alpacas, A llama, kune kune pigs, baby doll sheep, goats, chickens and free ranging peacocks! We are located just 4 miles from main Amana with shops, restaurants and bars. Grab a cup of coffee, sit on our patio to watch the sunrise and then take a walk around our beautiful 22 acre property!

Deda is an excellent host. She made sure to check in with our group to make sure we had everything and was very responsive to all questions. Beds are very comfortable. The animals were so entertaining (we gave them nicknames) and the location is excellent.

Wonderful stay. It was clean, well decorated and cozy. Snowed 6 inches overnight and the host cleaned off our car and had the driveway plowed by 8am. It was so considerate. We loved visiting the animals and the peaceful country setting.

Great location, fabulous hosts!

Great location to the Amanas. House was well stocked with all necessities and beds were very comfortable. The animals were a hoot and the hosts were the kindest we’ve ever had at a VRBO. They showed us around the property and the beautiful wedding venue they own.

The views of the Iowa countryside surrounding our vrbo were outstanding. It made for a relaxing couple days. Menagerie added interest. Lots of photos sent to kids/grandkids.Main spaces in house were neat, clean. Comfortable beds, well-furnished linens and decor. Lots of attractive living spaces in which to relax throughout house. Only complaint about kitchen was that the freezer was in need of defrosting. Otherwise, well-stocked kitchen with any utensils/appliances one would need. Having two bathrooms was great. The bath in close proximity to all three bedrooms was convenient. Now, I'm not a farm-girl, so bird poop on patio made me wish I had an outdoor broom to sweep. I enjoyed all the animals...and they weren't a problem even when they wanted to share patio with us. Fun seeing them up close...and friendly. We regretted that we didn't get to meet the hosts as they were out of town. We got to see the nearby event venue and were impressed. It would be cool to be there on a Thursday night when there's musical entertainment.

Oh my, did we have a wonderful weekend at the Modern Farmhouse! It was a perfect place to have Christmas with our two daughters, their husbands, and their little ones. The house had everything we needed. I was especially grateful for the Christmas tree to place our presents under, the large sectional, two dining tables, and views of the animals out every window! The friendly spotted pig was our favorite! Memories were made that we will cherish forever.

Our stay was peaceful, beautiful, and the owners were very kind. Just wish we could have stayed longer. Loving outdoor farm animals is a must, which we do love them that is one of the reasons we chose this place. I would recommend you staying there. 👍

Amazing Home with an Animal View

Had a Great Experience! Was so peaceful and relaxing with the Best view! We had Peacock’s and Chicken’s greet us when we pulled in. Loved walking around the 22 acres and looking at all the friendly animals. The house was completely redone with beautiful decor. We will definitely stay here again!

We are a creative couple! I am an artist/ Designer and Painter so a lot of the art in the house is by me (Deda). My husband is a landscaper that has designed and installed the patio and garden. Together, we have designed a beautiful place for our guests to enjoy and explore!

The 22 acre property is absolutely breathtaking. It is the quintessential Grant Wood landscape with its rolling hills and beautiful sunsets. Enjoy a walk around the property and check out our venue next door. (don't worry.. we never schedule an event on the evening of your stay. ) The venue is used mostly for weddings so if you have someone that is interested in getting married, this might be the venue for them!

Ahhhh the Animals... that is what makes us unique! Llamas, Alpacas, Pigs, Emus, Free Ranging Peacocks, Chickens, Donkeys, Sheep, Goats and a mini horse! We do let some of our animals free range so that you can get an up close experience!
