The Calf Pen

Welcome to The Farm at Hyde Park; a micro farm experience like no other. The Calf Pen is a newly remodeled 2 bed, 2 bath home done with country charm and open space both inside and out. Bring your tent(s) and let the kids camp in the spacious yard. Or, pitch a party tent and have your backyard wedding with room to spare.
This spring we are planting the expanded berry patches and the new raised vegetable/herb gardens. Come stay and enjoy locally made honeys, jams and syrups along with fresh farm produce.
If the dates you are looking for in the Calf Pen are not available check to see if the Church (2 bed, 1 bath) is available (VRBO ID 3050854) which is another home on the farm property. A third home, the Chicken Coop (VRBO ID: 4388890) may also have the dates you seek.
If you desire a date that is not yet available for booking please contact us and we can unlock and allow for a booking more than 6 months in advance.

Very nice home. Everything was wonderful, especially the back deck at night. We didn't spend much time in the house, as we were there for work, but it was very comfortable for sleeping, with all the conveniences we needed. Super nice host too!

The place was bigger than we initially thought. It was clean and well maintained. The farm was beautiful and Glen was such a great host! He left us fresh milk, eggs from the chicken coop and homemade zucchini bread which was delicious and let us pick some vegetables from the garden which we threw on the grill. And the two dogs we brought loved it too. They made themselves right at home. The location is close to the rhinebeck downtown which is really cute. Wed love to come back to stay in the church at some point!

Great Location and Country Setting

Nestled at the end of a small suburban neighborhood this country compound of 3 rentals with the owner's home making a 4th, has a real farm and rural feel while being within 15 minutes of incredible historic sites in the Hyde Park area. The Calf Pen was well equipped, spotless, and had a very nice country feel. The owner was very accommodating with a checkout time adjustment, and very pleasant to see working about the property each day. We will be back !

The place is very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the setting is lovely. The fresh eggs, fresh milk and honey and syrup samples were a lovely touch. Glenn responded right away to a couple of small issues. Overall, a quite comfortable place---A floor lamp and/or a table lamp in the living room would be a nice addition for those of us who like to read!

Wonderful Accommodations

Glen was very responsive to our request. Place was very clean and well stocked. We had a great time at the sheep and wool festival and the Calf Pen was the perfect place to stay. The outside patio was great for knitting and relaxing away from the crowds.

Fall weekend getaway

My husband and I stayed at the Calf Pen along with another couple. My husband and I had previously stayed at the Church on the same property and thought the Calf Pen might be better for four adults. It was great! We were in town for two days to see the airshow at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome and had a wonderful time. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Perfect quiet spot

The property was very convenient for an event we had traveled to and it was a welcome relaxing spot at the end of a couple of long days. All we needed for a comfortable stay was supplied from kitchen to bathroom to bedroom.

Loved it!

We absolutely loved the place! Upon our arrival, Glen came out to welcome us. The house was spotless. Everything was clean. As other visitors have stated before, we did have our farm fresh eggs in the fridge. As well as fresh raw milk that was $7, but was well worth it. As a chef family we were totally surprised yet grateful for the nicely sharpened knives. That was a great bonus for us! We also enjoyed the samples of honey and maple syrup. And bought 1 of each to bring home with us. And another fresh dozen of eggs as well. Next time we'll bring a couple flashlights and more bug spray. Glen has a small rechargeable bug zapper as well as a couple Bull Frog citronella candles. However, it did not phase the mosquitos much! And be sure to arrive back home before dark. It gets pitch black out there! The overabundance of cherry tomatoes in the garden was spectacular. As well as the basil! We loved it! We even got to see a family of turkeys roaming around the property. We will definitely come back to stay there again! Thanks Glen for letting us stay there! eggsinbthe fridge

Week at the Calf Pen

My husband and I enjoyed our time at this rental home. It is rustic and comfy. We were able to enjoy a nice barbecue on the deck. Our dogs enjoyed the backyard too. The host Glen was very attentive and kind. We plan on returning sometime in the future.

Great country property!

We were looking for a nice quiet place to call home near Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie where family lives so we could visit easily. This was more than perfect! Glen was very hospitable yet we had privacy and a beautiful scenic property to relax at. I loved seeing the chickens in the yard and all the beautiful trees. The refrigerator had a dozen fresh eggs and milk already stocked and there were honey and maple syrup samples for us as well. It was a great experience.

Great place!!

Very peaceful place that backs up to a wooded area. The Calf Pen was very clean, plenty of room and has many comforts of home! Glen, the owner, lives on the property but is respectful of your space while being available to answer questions or for a friendly chat. The deck is a wonderful spot to enjoy the sounds of nature and visits from Glen's chickens.
